Hi everyone,

I just received my Alta after pre-ordering.  I am currently in the process of setting it up using the android app.  Right now it is not seeing it while my bluetooth is on.  The first screen says Power Up, and it is searching for it but does not find it.  After that, the Not Working? screen comes up, and you have the option to try again.  After selecting try again, It then says Bluetooh Issues.  This is where you can restart Bluetooth, which I've done multiple times already.  I know my bluetooth works on my phone because I have it setup to work with my headphones with no problems.  I have it securely connected to the USB pin connecter which is then connected to my PC.  It is charging so I know there is connectivity.  I've restarted my phone a few times, but to no avail.  I never had any problem connecting with my HR.  Has anyone else experienced this with the Alta, does anyone know of anything that I could do to fix this issue.

Hi SandrasingerGive fitbit support a call again and have them walk you through that part as well. Make sure you stay on the phone and follow the steps they give you. You can try looking at your phone and going to the notifications and make sure you enable it. If that doesn't work then call Fitbit support like I said and have them go step by step with you to get that on. I had to do that as well. Because I was so excited about getting it synced when we first called them and went through the step-by-step process. I forgot to ask about the notifications so we called them again the next day and went through a very short step process to get the notifications active. Hope that helps good luck.

Thanks a lot!
I did call them and let them walk through the entire process. But
unfortunately nothing worked. I'm afraid my Alta is a faulty piece and gave
me a case no. They said they would have their agent contact me regarding
further instructions soon.
I'm hoping to have this thing fixed asap. If not waiting for a replacement
soon. My first fitbit watch and I'm already disappointed 😞

The same thing has happened with me. Looks like I might get a replacement

Hi! I use Ubuntu and unfortunately, fitbit devices aren't compatible with
Ubuntu. 😞

Fitbit alta was dead on arrival. It would never charge or respond to any input right out of the box.  I spoke with customer service after waiting over an hour and was told that he would send me a FEDEX tracking label for return. I then had to take it to the post office (yes, the post office), and when I got a confirmation that the item was in transit from the tracking number, I had to email the representative with this confirmation number (which was already provided by the FEDEX tracking label initially), and he would authorize fitbit to send me a new one.  After I corrected him about the item needing to go the FEDEX office and that I would not get a confirmation that the item was in transit, he hung up the phone on me. Great support right? It is going back to Amazon and I will not be ordering a replacement. By the way, I am a middle aged Systems Engineer for an Aerospace company so I think I can line the little dots on the charger up according to his initial suggestion.

Will this help with syncing to my android? I want to make sure I can use the text/call/calendar notifications. Thanks!

Finally after trying to reset several times with no luck, deleting app then reinstalling it, turning my phone off and back on, trying setup with dougle. I finally decided to delete all other fitbits I had connected to my phone and finally it instantly found my alta. So if you have tried all other options with no luck delete other devices and try again. It worked for me.

It seems thst different things work for different phones.  Both of mine are synced together but the Alta is the primary.

Update on the situation. I went to Best Buy and purchased a new alta. No issues with charging or syncing.

 

Hope this one works out.

I'm having the same problem everything working except notifications, it's listed in Bluetooth but can't find it, was on the phones with support for a long time now that are getting in touch with tech and I have to wait for an email, not a happy camper, I've tried all the suggestions several times.

Make sure that motificstions are enabled on your phone.   If thst doesn't work csll fitbit support and stay ON the phone and let them work you through it.

I reieved my Alta last Wednesday after pre-ordering it.  I've downloaded the app on my  Android phone. I did find that I had an account a few years ago.  I am trying to set up my device then sync it and have failed numerous times at trying to figure out both.  When I tap my screen I get fitbit.com/setup.  When I put the button 3 times to restart it, I get picture of the battery but then nothing changes.  I thought I needed to sync it but it doesn't recognize my bluetooth.  I've reset, turned things on and off.  I just don't know what to do anymore.  This has been more frustrating than I imagined!  I hope this device is worth it!

It's worth the wait,I had same issue, also I send them snap shots of messages I've gotten from fit bit Alta app. They RE within 24 hrs 🙂
