Fitbit Update: 3/6/19

Hello everyone!

We have some updated troubleshooting suggestions we'd like for all of you on Android Pie (9.0) to try.

First, turn off Background Restrictions/Limitations: Phone settings > Apps & Notifications > Fitbit app > Background restrictions or Background limits.

Then, disable battery limitations:

  1. Go to Settings > Apps > Fitbit app > Advanced > Battery > Battery optimization
  2. Change view to All apps
  3. Search for Fitbit app
  4. Choose Not optimized

Please give the steps above a try to improve syncing with your Fitbit device and Android 9.0 OS. We're still researching and testing out long-term solutions to this ongoing syncing issue. We thank you for all your patience while we continue to work on this effort.

Fitbit Update: 10/3/18

Hey Everyone!

Our team is still working on implementing a longterm fix for syncing with Android devices on Pie (9.0).

For the background syncing issue, I have posted an update in the other floated thread which you can find here

We released Fitbit for Android version 2.80 today which contains improvements for that syncing issue.

I'll make sure to keep you all updated with more information, as soon as I have it available. We're still working on this and I really appreciate everyone's patience.

Fitbit Update: 9/26/18

Hey everyone!

Thanks so much for your patience and cooperation. We are aware of the issue and working with Google on a solution.

I will continue to provide updates here, so keep an eye on this thread.

Fitbit Update: 9/10/18

Hi, everybody!

Thanks for your patience while our team continues to work on improving syncing for those on Android Pie (9.0). They are actively working on this and for the time being, I recommend you keep the Fitbit app updated on the latest version for best syncing results. Right now that is version 2.78, so if you're not on this version please update! Also, another troubleshoot we recommend is performing a restart on your phone.

When there are more improvements made in the future I'll announce them here. Stay tuned and subscribed to this thread.

Fitbit Update: 8/19/18

We have escalated these syncing issues for those who are now using Android Pie (9.0) to our team for investigation. There aren't any updates at the moment, but rest assured we will keep you informed in this thread when more information is available.

Thanks for your patience!

Fitbit Update: 8/11/18

Hi, everyone! Thanks for stopping by the Community Forums. Smiley Happy

Seems like many of you who updated to Android Pie (9.0) are now having trouble syncing your Fitbit trackers. I'm going to escalate this to our team so they can look into it.

In the meantime, please update the Fitbit app to version 2.76.1 if you haven't yet. Let me know if that changes the syncing behavior. Please follow this thread for updates. I'll keep you all posted here!

OMG how do I unsubscribe? I've tried and it keeps sending me to my
community name page, and when I put my community name in, it says sorry,
that's already been used.

I just updated the app and my fitbit still won't sync. I have a Fitbit One and a Galaxy S9. My fitbit hasn't synced sit 8-09. Any other ideas?

Have you tried rebooting the one while it's in the dongle ? I have a one. I can manually sync it by rebooting it, then opening the app. It stays connected for 20  minutes or so.

I have also been unable to sync my Fitbit since I had a phone upgrade to a Samsung 9 plus.

Just wondering if there is an update to the issue of the tracker not syncing after upgrading my Pixel2 to Android 9?  It's been more than 2 weeks and still doesn't sync.  Thanks.

I have the 2.77 version of the app and sync doesn't work well. I can force it to sync once by manually adding my Zip as a Bluetooth device and then initiate a sync. But i have to do this several times and it doesn't stick. When can we expect a fix?

Best Answer

I'm pretty sure it's an issue with the Fitbit app v2.76.  I noticed it after installing that version while still on Oreo.  I have since updated my Pixel 2 to Pie, and I still have the issue.

Happy to hear. Without describing what the fix is, your comment isn't very useful. Sorry, if this is a bit rude. We've had a number of people post that they're fixed, only to post a few hours later that they aren't fixed.

DelilahF - Have you tried rebooting your phone?  Open the Fitbit App and swipe down.. If it doesn't sync, try rebooting your One. Try swiping or click into the step detail to see if it will sync. I'm not running the latest Fitbit app. My one will sync by rebooting, 8 - 10 times, then it won't. It will sync if I reboot my phone then open the app.

Thanks Mike, but still no go. I've rebooted both, and can see that Fitbit recognizes my phone. I have all day sync on, always connected, bluetooth on, keep alive widget on. It recognizes calories burned for today, Sept. 1, but not steps, floors, miles, etc. This is crazy.

I am using version 2.77 but haven't been able to synch since August 13th - about the time I updated to the new android operating system. I tried uninstalling and then re-installing but still no luck. Help!!

Fitbit, please get this fixed!

Please see my earlier post for the only workaround that seems to work reliably for me and others here.

I'm running Fitbit App 2.62.1 with Pixel on Pie. The problem started for me the day that I installed Pie. I'm also running firmware 6.60 on a Fitbit One. Both are older versions, but firmware 6.64 destroyed my One and many others. I bought a used One with 6.60 and have refused all updates, either firmware or app.

Best Answer

This doesn't work for the One because it doesn't grab a continuous Bluetooth connection.

I've been using a One with a Pixel 2 XL on Pie since this whole mess started and the method I posted earlier continues to work today as the only workaround I've found to work reliably.
