Fitbit Update: 3/6/19
Hello everyone!
We have some updated troubleshooting suggestions we'd like for all of you on Android Pie (9.0) to try.
First, turn off Background Restrictions/Limitations: Phone settings > Apps & Notifications > Fitbit app > Background restrictions or Background limits.
Then, disable battery limitations:
Please give the steps above a try to improve syncing with your Fitbit device and Android 9.0 OS. We're still researching and testing out long-term solutions to this ongoing syncing issue. We thank you for all your patience while we continue to work on this effort.

Fitbit Update: 9/10/18
Hi, everybody!
Thanks for your patience while our team continues to work on improving syncing for those on Android Pie (9.0). They are actively working on this and for the time being, I recommend you keep the Fitbit app updated on the latest version for best syncing results. Right now that is version 2.78, so if you're not on this version please update! Also, another troubleshoot we recommend is performing a restart on your phone.
When there are more improvements made in the future I'll announce them here. Stay tuned and subscribed to this thread.

We have escalated these syncing issues for those who are now using Android Pie (9.0) to our team for investigation. There aren't any updates at the moment, but rest assured we will keep you informed in this thread when more information is available.

Is there any intention of fixing this app? This has been bugged for over a month with no response or reasonable acknowledgement from the developer. I'm glad I was given this device as a gift instead of purchasing it myself. I'd be pissed if I had put money into this thing.

Still broken. In fact the update means my "work around" no longer works as well.

Ive resorted to using the Windows 10 app which works fine.

Any update on this? I have tried two different trackers and neither is able to connect/sync.

There will always be Bluetooth issues when a project uses the latest open-source Bluetooth stack and tries to connect to other devices that use proprietary older versions of the standard. This is why some companies are late to adopt the newest version of Bluetooth and why Bluetooth in your car — which is probably a very old version and in dire need of an update — can suck. Google will get these issues fixed in time for the next version of Bluetooth to arrive.

I guess fitbit just doesn't care. this is crazy. It's either arrogance or
they are in the process of being sold ... tho why anyone would buy a
company that cares so little about its customer base is beyond me
Best regards,

That's not even remotely helpful. I take it you haven't been reading this thread because if you had you would know that the latest version of the Android App breaks syncing entirely and not even the manual work arounds function any more. Why don't you go find someone else in Fitbit who can actually speak to the issue?

AlessFitbit, I appreciate that you have a thankless job in this particular situation. I would note that, at this point in time, many companies would have a representative of their engineering organization provide a status update indicating the apparent nature of the problem, an overview of the work being done to address the problem, and a commitment to keep affected customers apprised of the situation every day or two until the problem is resolved.
On a different (but related) note, is there anything we can do to help? I for one would be gladly willing to run prospective fixes and/or instrumented code, if your engineering team would find that useful.

SheWatt, sorry to hear that. Thanks for posting. You probably prevented someone else from breaking the manual work around.

I lost my other Zip and paid $78 for a new one and am extremely dissatisfied that it won't sync. I have pie and 2.78. Frustrated.

I just wanted to say that I am extremely disappointed in the Fitbit team's treatment of this issue and in the future will purchase a competitor's fitness tracker. Mine has been worthless for a month now.

I'm really sorry you're all having trouble syncing your Fitbit devices. As I mentioned earlier, our team is highly aware of these syncing issues with Android Pie and are actively investigating. As a troubleshoot, I recommend that you perform a restart on your phones.
I appreciate that some of you are willing to help out with this situation, but at this moment I just ask for your patience. If we do need any additional information in the future, I will make sure to ask. Thank you!

I too have been having issues with my Charge HR syncing. Obviously I have made sure everything is updated and performed numerous restarts of my phone. As of right now it hasn't synced any of my information that I'm tracking since August 24th. Because of health issues I use my fitFit to track my sleep patterns, heart rate, and more. I've read through this thread several times and can't believe that in over a month the best advice is restart your phone and make sure the app is updated. I think I need to say goodbye and go with a different tracker.
Very disappointed!!

Hey all, an update on my issue.
It has ben resolved and is un-related to the rest of the issues here. I think.
The solution however, might be helpful to some of you that are having issues with Fitbit not tracking your path correctly
With Android 9.0, the new Power Management setting when the Battery Saver is set to ON, Location Services is OFF when the screen is OFF.
So, any app that relies on location services (FitBit, Strave, Google Fit - I tried them all, same results) will most likely only get your location at the start of the run, bike, then screen goes off and Location with it. Then you finish the run, ride and look at your phone and there is your end point.
This little nugget was on a Strava board.

See reply above to my own post.
Turn off Battery Saver and see if it resolves your issue.

Did anyone here try a Pixel Factory Reset?
I know is is a major pain, I went thru multiple ones after my Pixel update to Pie and I even had Google replace the motherboard on my Pixel after the Pie update as it killed the audio and that required a factory reset on the Pixel (of course!).
You can read about that fun ride here: Pixel - Plagued with Android Pie 9.0 Issues
I am not saying it is a Pixel issue (vs. a Fitbit) however, it is worth a shot because I for one, have no issues synching on my Pixel 1 with Pie and Fitbit.
All I am saying is that there are a LOT of issues with the Pixel Pie update and some unlucky few have jump thru hoops to get things fixed.

Fellow Fitbit Suffers, I tried this and have successfully sync twice on swipe. I went into Settings-Battery- turn off Adaptive Battery. I already had Battery saver off. This makes some sense to me. The description says that Adaptive Battery limits battery for infrequently used apps. Since the One doesn't have a bluetooth connection, it is probably considered infrequent. I would certainly try this. I will update the thread, if this solution proves temporary as many others have.
