Fitbit Update: 3/6/19

Hello everyone!

We have some updated troubleshooting suggestions we'd like for all of you on Android Pie (9.0) to try.

First, turn off Background Restrictions/Limitations: Phone settings > Apps & Notifications > Fitbit app > Background restrictions or Background limits.

Then, disable battery limitations:

  1. Go to Settings > Apps > Fitbit app > Advanced > Battery > Battery optimization
  2. Change view to All apps
  3. Search for Fitbit app
  4. Choose Not optimized

Please give the steps above a try to improve syncing with your Fitbit device and Android 9.0 OS. We're still researching and testing out long-term solutions to this ongoing syncing issue. We thank you for all your patience while we continue to work on this effort.

For the background syncing issue, I have posted an update in the other floated thread which you can find here

I will continue to provide updates here, so keep an eye on this thread.

Fitbit Update: 9/10/18

Hi, everybody!

Thanks for your patience while our team continues to work on improving syncing for those on Android Pie (9.0). They are actively working on this and for the time being, I recommend you keep the Fitbit app updated on the latest version for best syncing results. Right now that is version 2.78, so if you're not on this version please update! Also, another troubleshoot we recommend is performing a restart on your phone.

When there are more improvements made in the future I'll announce them here. Stay tuned and subscribed to this thread.

Fitbit Update: 8/19/18

We have escalated these syncing issues for those who are now using Android Pie (9.0) to our team for investigation. There aren't any updates at the moment, but rest assured we will keep you informed in this thread when more information is available.

Thanks for your patience!

In the meantime, please update the Fitbit app to version 2.76.1 if you haven't yet. Let me know if that changes the syncing behavior. Please follow this thread for updates. I'll keep you all posted here!

Definitely not another fitbit product as long as I am on Android Ecosystem. Must discourage prospective buyers from Android community.

I finally updated to Pie on my oneplus 6 and as everyone said it wouldn't sync.  I removed the versa from the bluetooth devices, unpaired it with the fitbit app, uninstalled app, rebooted phone, and did a factory reset on the versa and it would find the versa and say connected and then give me an error saying that i needed to restart my bluetooth by turning it on and off and it was unable to sync and the versa was stuck on the screen telling you to install the fitbit app to your phone in multiple languages.

As some others have said, I went ahead and did a factory reset on the phone itself.  After setting that up again I tried the fitbit app and this time it was able to connect to the app and sent me the numbers and is installing now.  A little ridiculous imo that I would need to even do this just to sync with the watch after an update.

This process is how I lost all my data as my fitbit was not originally paired on this device.

This is just awful. I hope that they can figure out the problem.

Still completely amazed that this problem has not been fixed.  Was considering upgrading to the latest Fitbit watch, but that's not under consideration any more .

OnePlus 6 Pie with Versa.  I did same steps as you, after the factory reset, I was able to connect and Versa showed me the numbers to pair.  It paired after the initial install.  However, it lost bluebooth connection again about 30 minutes later, and could not pair / sync with the phone again.

I was so frustrated with this I rolled back to Android Oreo. FitBit needs to come up with a fix for the Android Pie connectivity issue ASAP.

Well thats the thing, they dont have to, as the phone is not on the supported list........

That list is laughably short though...

They need to fix the Bluetooth connectivity issue with Android Pie in general.

The Versa worked just fine on Oreo, with my unsupported OnePlus 6.

The ONLY time my older devices will sync now is when my flex is dropped into the charger. On my wrist, even my Samsung tablet cannot locate the flex. This is the opposite of progress

This worked for me as well. Thank you for the information. Hopefully, it continues to sync.

Are we close to resolution of this problem?  My Fitbit syncs with my employer's health program where I earn money for participation.  3Q is done and they are moving forward with 4Q.

You can add me to the list of people that could not sync my watch with Android 9.  I had to downgrade to 8 to get it working again.

You have pretty much been saying "we're working on it" since 8/11. That's two months. Fitbit is starting to lose customers because of this issue. You might want to give a few more details in your "updates". I already have a $130 brick with my Aria scale which will no longer work with today's WiFi technology. Now I have a $100 mini brick with my Fitbit One because it won't work with new technology. I'm questioning why I would want to stay with Fitbit who can't seem to make products that keep up with evolving technology.

I just updated the Fitbit app on my Google Pixel 2 to Version 2.80. It still does not sync with my Fitbit One. Any other suggestions?

Upgraded Fitbit software to 2.8 on my stock Pixel 2 running Android Pie.  No change.  My Fitbit One still does not sync.  The Fitbit app cannot locate my One.

I reset my Fitbit One and then waswable to sync, but I will hold out final judgement for a day because it has worked in the past for a while and then stopped.

Just updated and my Fitbit Versa is still showing "Unknown Caller" when I get a phone call. Anything else? Because now, it's either back to Pebble or Amazfit Bip.

So I just updated the app to 2.80 and I don't have my Fitbit anywhere near me. It is at home and I am at work, but the app thinks I walked 18miles!Screenshot_20181003-161929.png

Upgraded to 2.8.  MyPixel 2 running Pie synched for about 10 minutes.  I used the Bluetooth with my earphones and then my car.  Now it ill not synch.  Back to my Nexus 5X running Oreo for synching.
