Fitbit Update: 3/6/19
Hello everyone!
We have some updated troubleshooting suggestions we'd like for all of you on Android Pie (9.0) to try.
First, turn off Background Restrictions/Limitations: Phone settings > Apps & Notifications > Fitbit app > Background restrictions or Background limits.
Then, disable battery limitations:
Please give the steps above a try to improve syncing with your Fitbit device and Android 9.0 OS. We're still researching and testing out long-term solutions to this ongoing syncing issue. We thank you for all your patience while we continue to work on this effort.

Hey Everyone!
Our team is still working on implementing a longterm fix for syncing with Android devices on Pie (9.0).
For the background syncing issue, I have posted an update in the other floated thread which you can find here.
We released Fitbit for Android version 2.80 today which contains improvements for that syncing issue.
I'll make sure to keep you all updated with more information, as soon as I have it available. We're still working on this and I really appreciate everyone's patience.

Fitbit Update: 9/10/18
Hi, everybody!
Thanks for your patience while our team continues to work on improving syncing for those on Android Pie (9.0). They are actively working on this and for the time being, I recommend you keep the Fitbit app updated on the latest version for best syncing results. Right now that is version 2.78, so if you're not on this version please update! Also, another troubleshoot we recommend is performing a restart on your phone.
When there are more improvements made in the future I'll announce them here. Stay tuned and subscribed to this thread.
Fitbit Update: 8/19/18
We have escalated these syncing issues for those who are now using Android Pie (9.0) to our team for investigation. There aren't any updates at the moment, but rest assured we will keep you informed in this thread when more information is available.
Thanks for your patience!

Hi, everyone! Thanks for stopping by the Community Forums.
Seems like many of you who updated to Android Pie (9.0) are now having trouble syncing your Fitbit trackers. I'm going to escalate this to our team so they can look into it.
In the meantime, please update the Fitbit app to version 2.76.1 if you haven't yet. Let me know if that changes the syncing behavior. Please follow this thread for updates. I'll keep you all posted here!

This worked for me. I don't know if it'll stop syncing later (have read about that happening multiple times in this thread), but as of now, it's working. Will update if it stops syncing.
Using a Charge 2 with a OnePlus Six.

I have a OnePlus 6 and had no end of problems syncing my VERSA when I upgraded to Android Pie 9.0 but I have just upgraded to 9.0.2. I did delete the Fitbit app and reinstall and also removed my versa from the Fitbit app and added it back in. As a side note I did not do a complete install of the watch because I am on holiday so I do not have WiFi but it has been about an hour and it all seems to be working fine. The watch will also connect to the GPS of the phone when tracking a run which was a great feature.
So I hope this is finally a fix because I do like the watch. I hope others have the same success.

None of these workarounds worked for me (using Nokia 6.1 plus). Looking forward an official fix.

So i had sync issue with Nokia 7 Plus and Flex 2, today i managed to sync for the first time after almost a month.
Exact steps taken (i will list everything i did, just in case)
- paired my fitbit with windows and tried to sync (did not work)
- unpaird my fitbit on my Nokia in bluetooth setting (not in the app)
- after this i was not able to pair my flex to my phone again (it did not see it as available device)
- attempted to sync without being paired to my flex (i would swear it did not work)
- uninstalled Fitbit app (and fitbit coach) and cleared cache for settings as mentioned in the post above (> settings>>apps¬ifications>>see all apps>>settings>storage>>cache clear)
- restarted phone, installed fitbit and my data appeared stating that sync was 7 minutes ago, which likely means it synced when i unpaired my device and attempted to sync without pairing
I will post back here in a few days if the sync will be working or not. No other workaround worked so i am happy i will not loose data on my tracker.

@LanuzaFitbit Any new updates ? I've tried all of the described workarounds but nothing helped.
I tried uninstalling the app, rebooting, removing bluetooth pairing and everything in between !
It's really getting ridiculous ! Android 9.0 has been out for more than 3 months ! Talk about product maintenance !
And by the way I haven't been able to sync my versa for almost a month so how much data can it hold before starting to remove old entries ?!

Pixel 2XL. Android 9, 5th Nov Update
Fitbit One: 6.64
Fitbit App 2.82
After a sync via Win 10 app it worked on my Pixel2. However this only worked for ~24-36 hours and then stopped for a day. I then did another sync with Win10 App and my syncing has returned via Pixel.
Guess I'm going to need to use both apps for the foreseeable.

A few days ago my charge 3 stopped syncing om my MotoG 4 android phone. Cannot synch and says firmware update is available. At one point it seemed to work and downloaded new firmware, next day back to same problem. I have wasted several hours on this with no success.

I have a Fitbit Blaze and Oneplus 6. After Android 9.0 update, my fitbit was not able to sync with my phone. Several updates from fitbit, but same results. Oneplus released update 9.0.2 and fitbit starts sync with my phone.
I uninstalled fitbit app from my phone, forget device from bluetooth. Updated Phone OS version to 9.0.2. Installed latest release of fitbit app. Paired Blaze with phone and tried to sync. It failed. Well, tried again and it worked.
It's been more than a day and everything is working fine - sync, notifications and updates. God knows when it will stop working again. I am not sure, it was a Oneplus issue or a fitbit issue but never should have happened and never should have taken so long to fix. I will think twice before going for another fitbit product in future.

1 month, no updates...3 months, no movement to resolution!
You can have your devices back if this is how you do business.

Got my first Fitbit a week ago. 3 days ago my phone (Nokia 6.1) updates to Pie. Now I can't sync even after trying all the workarounds in this thread. Not a good first impression. Seriously considering taking my Fitbit back and getting my old Pebble out of the drawer.

Just started trying to really use my Fitbit zip regularly and I'm very disappointed that it's not working with my Pixel 2. If a resolution isn't worked out soon I will have to figure out how to return the zip and just use some other tracking device.

My Nokia 6.1 auto updated to Android 9, and I am now having the sync error. Disappointed to hear this has been a known issue for several months!

Nokia 6.1, Android 9, Fitbit Versa
Uninstalled Fitbit app. In system settings I selected "Reset Wi-Fi, mobile & Bluetooth", then rebooted phone. Rebooted Fitbit Versa. Reconnected Wi-Fi and reinstalled Fitbit app.
After that, I followed the steps in https://www.androidauthority.com/fitbit-sync-android-pie-901608/
Sync is working again now.

Update to 9 two days ago and Charge 2 stopped synching. Connecting to a computer USB port with the charging cable and holding down the button for 12 seconds until it does a reset fixed the problem for me. This did not work connecting to a charger. For some reason it must be a computer,.
By the way, I had this problem a couple of times in the year before the Android 9 update and found the same solution. My Fitbit has always had synching issues since I bought it a year ago. I often need to force a synch 3 or 4 times before all my data shows up in the app.

Hey everyone.
Unfortunately, there haven't been any updates. As I mentioned, we are working on this situation.
If you have not, please try going through all of the troubleshooting steps listed in this help article. While not guaranteed, there is a possibility that it could sync.
Thanks for your patience and understanding. As soon as there are any news we'll be letting everyone know.
