Fitbit Update: 3/6/19
Hello everyone!
We have some updated troubleshooting suggestions we'd like for all of you on Android Pie (9.0) to try.
First, turn off Background Restrictions/Limitations: Phone settings > Apps & Notifications > Fitbit app > Background restrictions or Background limits.
Then, disable battery limitations:
Please give the steps above a try to improve syncing with your Fitbit device and Android 9.0 OS. We're still researching and testing out long-term solutions to this ongoing syncing issue. We thank you for all your patience while we continue to work on this effort.

Fitbit Update: 9/10/18
Hi, everybody!
Thanks for your patience while our team continues to work on improving syncing for those on Android Pie (9.0). They are actively working on this and for the time being, I recommend you keep the Fitbit app updated on the latest version for best syncing results. Right now that is version 2.78, so if you're not on this version please update! Also, another troubleshoot we recommend is performing a restart on your phone.
When there are more improvements made in the future I'll announce them here. Stay tuned and subscribed to this thread.

We have escalated these syncing issues for those who are now using Android Pie (9.0) to our team for investigation. There aren't any updates at the moment, but rest assured we will keep you informed in this thread when more information is available.

Anyone got this working on a Xiao Mi A1 with a Charge2?
Best Answer
You will not believe what happen today. My android Galaxy note 8 updated the system today and I got knocked back to the stone age. In other words remember what happen in August? When the heart rate stopped beating and it took all day to sync? Yep, I'm back there.
Best AnswerMy Mi A2 Lite does not sync with Fitbit Versa after upgraded by Android Pie. Sync Fitbit One with upgraded Mi A2 Lite is still OK
I have fixed all sync issues by video https://youtu.be/G6_fcpJUOZ8
Best AnswerIt seems the Android Pie bluetooth stack has a quite strong power saving setting and in some instances this will prevent the device syncing properly. Also if you are upgrading from Oreo to Pie the Bluetooth encryption stack is modified so some previously connected devices will need to be removed and forgotten in order for them to sync again.
More info in the video here.
Hope this helps someone

Seems like there is no way out of these problems at the moment. Mine was syncing for a while and recently noticed that is stopped for 5 days. And I can't get it to work again. I know one thing, I will not be buying Fitbit for a VERY LONG TIME. Just not going to precipitate myself into another smartwatch with potential OTHER problems. I'll take my time and wait until the Summer time to assess what I will be doing.
Did you get your new watch?
Best Answer@SunsetRunner
Like many of us (disappointed). And it is not like I can resell this to someone else. The way the app is being rated in Google Play Store, who would want a Fitbit now. Unless you are still with Android 8.0 and below, Fitbit smart watches are not useless.
Following up my Fitbit Charge 3 status...
On Friday 25 Jan, I did one thing and it works well so far. My Charge 3 has communicated with my Fitbit App (on My Google Pixel 3 XL, running Android Pie) since. Collecting all my exercise data and sleep again. Also receiving all Notification from my mobile phone.
Here is what I did:
(On my Fitbit Charge 3) Settings > About > 1. Clear User Data; 2. Reboot Device.
It works to me. Hope this helps others.
Fitbit Charge 2, I had followed the same process as you @Kimurabenny and had the same results. Prior to doing a complete wipe sync between the device and the phone was at best patchy. Real time activity tracking was very poor (would lose 50% of exercise data -- e.g. cycling) while at the same time other applications like Strava and other fitness apps having 0 issues. Tentative steps, but since doing this it seems to be happy and collecting all data.
Did Fitbit remove the Fitbit widget?
Yesterday I managed to get my Charge 2 sync with my phone again.
I am not sure on what did the trick but I can tell you what changed since the last time I tried.
- Updated to Fitbit version 2.86
- Installed new Security patch level: version 1 January 2019
- Removed my Charge 2 from listed devices in the App and re-added (as described in the manual)
Hope this works for others too!
Hello,
After perform the master reset in my Charge HR will sync running fine again for now!

Welcome to the Forums @Pagani, @Beckero, @mikechurchill and @Icemonkey. Hello @SunsetRunner, @uval972, and @Kimurabenny.
@Pagani, @Beckero @Icemonkey, @mikechurchill, @uval972 and @Kimurabenny. Glad to read that everything seems to be working correctly with all of those steps and processes. Thank you very much for sharing all of them.
@SunsetRunner In your particular case it is possible that it is happening because the Note 8 is not part of the supported devices list. This means that the app has not been fully optimized to work with that phone. As long as it fulfills the minimum requirements, Android 4.4 and Bluetooth 4.0, there is a possibility that it can work but we cannot guarantee it.
Feel free to reach out with any further questions.

Some companies, when they don't see a need to do anything, they wont until they really have to.. Perhaps they are working on the issue.. but they didn't come out publicly to really say or do anything, what measures they are taking... People continue to buy stuff from them and they hope they will fix the issue.. keep the watch, too late for them to return the product.. All I can say is I'm very disappointed by their product and lack of engagement.
Just received the official Android Pie update on my Nokia 8 yesterday and now I keep getting a sync error whenever I open the Fitbit app and a message "Bluetooth Issues" when trying to sync with my Alta. Restarting Bluetooth or the phone doesn't help. The Fitbit app is version 2.86.
