Fitbit Update: 3/6/19
Hello everyone!
We have some updated troubleshooting suggestions we'd like for all of you on Android Pie (9.0) to try.
First, turn off Background Restrictions/Limitations: Phone settings > Apps & Notifications > Fitbit app > Background restrictions or Background limits.
Then, disable battery limitations:
Please give the steps above a try to improve syncing with your Fitbit device and Android 9.0 OS. We're still researching and testing out long-term solutions to this ongoing syncing issue. We thank you for all your patience while we continue to work on this effort.

Hey Everyone!
Our team is still working on implementing a longterm fix for syncing with Android devices on Pie (9.0).
For the background syncing issue, I have posted an update in the other floated thread which you can find here.
We released Fitbit for Android version 2.80 today which contains improvements for that syncing issue.
I'll make sure to keep you all updated with more information, as soon as I have it available. We're still working on this and I really appreciate everyone's patience.

I will continue to provide updates here, so keep an eye on this thread.
Fitbit Update: 9/10/18
Hi, everybody!
Thanks for your patience while our team continues to work on improving syncing for those on Android Pie (9.0). They are actively working on this and for the time being, I recommend you keep the Fitbit app updated on the latest version for best syncing results. Right now that is version 2.78, so if you're not on this version please update! Also, another troubleshoot we recommend is performing a restart on your phone.
When there are more improvements made in the future I'll announce them here. Stay tuned and subscribed to this thread.
Fitbit Update: 8/19/18
We have escalated these syncing issues for those who are now using Android Pie (9.0) to our team for investigation. There aren't any updates at the moment, but rest assured we will keep you informed in this thread when more information is available.
Thanks for your patience!
Fitbit Update: 8/11/18
Hi, everyone! Thanks for stopping by the Community Forums.
Seems like many of you who updated to Android Pie (9.0) are now having trouble syncing your Fitbit trackers. I'm going to escalate this to our team so they can look into it.
In the meantime, please update the Fitbit app to version 2.76.1 if you haven't yet. Let me know if that changes the syncing behavior. Please follow this thread for updates. I'll keep you all posted here!

These problems seem to vary completely with what model tracker, phone, and Android version&date. If i could suggest: End each message with what you have!
(I have a Zip and an Alta HR, and a Pixel 3XL with Android 9 (March 5 2019 security patch). The Alta works OK with my phone, the Zip has all the problems we've had 7 months and 97 pages or complaints about.)

Hello, same thing happened to me, I have done what they recommend in the last AlessFitbit's post update (03/06/19) and I have solved it by doing one more thing:
Go to Settings -> Applications -> Search for Fitbit.
Check all the stuff that AlessFitbit says in the last post update.
Next,go to Notifications and
check that the Synchronization service option is enabled. Seems like if this option is disabled, the sync service fails to start.
Within the Fitbit App, activate the options: continuous synchronization and always connected.
Now, i'm able to sync everytime without any problem.
I hope it helps someone.
Regards

Fitbit Charge 3
paired to Pixel 3 (Running Pie, and on March 2019 patch)
Most of the time, if it works it would work properly, however if the sync cycle broke (most of the time when I am sleeping), getting it to sync manually currently require at least 2 reboots. The support is suggesting me to plug it to the charging clip, not sure if helps.

Pixel2xl
Twice this week my charge HR lost sync. I have not seen this in over a year.
Google did update my OS a week ago so maybe it is the source of the problem.
I toggled Bluetooth off and on. That fixed it for me. Annoying but not time consuming.
Hope that helps!

I tried the suggestions that were made and am still having issues with syncing my fitbit zip and galaxy S9. I've chatted with customer support multiple time and have had no resolution. It seems the only way to sync my fitbit is to take the battery out and put it back in. Anything else that I can do?

After reflecting on this for months, I decided to change my approach. I think we're being too scientific. So I went to see my local Shaman (you can do this in Malaysia) explained the problem, and got his solution which I will share with you.
1. Wait for the night of the new moon.
2. Take out your Fitbit and chant "Aduuh sakitnya saya beli barang mahal gilerr tak guna kenapa tak beli itu Gahmeen atau Hwaweh? Aduuh Aduuh Aduuh"
3. Rub your Fitbit with a mosquito heart dissolved in 3 cc of cat blood. (I don't know why, but both my cats run away and hide now when they see me wearing my Fibit).
I tried this, and it worked just as well as every solution suggested by Fitbit.

Same issue here on a Samsung S8 / Fitbit Zip, works with my old S4, but that's not really the solution 😞
Tried the recent suggestion, but could NOT find the Background restrictions or Background Limits
Fitbit sync does really annoy me. I have a Garmin, which just works. I have a Flex 2, as well and often have to remove and add it to get it to sync (it's not paired at the moment) as FB support suggested that was causing the problem, which it clearly wasn't.
Support wanted me to remove all my Bluetooth devices from my phone and leave the FB as a test but that would be a lot of work, to get everything setup again and I didn't believe it would work

I am running all the latest and greatest for my Versa and S10+ and am getting very frustrated with syncing issues. Guess I might have to look into matching my "Gear."

I did all of that and it would only sync once, but then not again the next day. I'm going to try upping the cat blood to 6cc.

Are you sure it was a mosquito heart you used?

hello fellow malaysian (:
anyway I managed to get my Charge 3 to sync to my Pixel 3 reliably without magic heh
Just disable WiFi completely when you run a sync (disable the setting to automatically switch on WiFi as needed too). So far it works flawlessly since last Friday heh.

Ok, I'm trying to ask nicely if this is real . . . The mosquito and cat blood threads are killing me! So if you are serious, disable the FB wifi settings? Or is this in the mosquito heart muse? Sorry, I'm still trying to get my FB to sync for once. I'm actually thinking of switching to a Galaxy Watch Active so I don't have compatibility excuses like I have been given for over.a year, now.
