Fitbit Update: 3/6/19

Hello everyone!

We have some updated troubleshooting suggestions we'd like for all of you on Android Pie (9.0) to try.

First, turn off Background Restrictions/Limitations: Phone settings > Apps & Notifications > Fitbit app > Background restrictions or Background limits.

Then, disable battery limitations:

  1. Go to Settings > Apps > Fitbit app > Advanced > Battery > Battery optimization
  2. Change view to All apps
  3. Search for Fitbit app
  4. Choose Not optimized

Please give the steps above a try to improve syncing with your Fitbit device and Android 9.0 OS. We're still researching and testing out long-term solutions to this ongoing syncing issue. We thank you for all your patience while we continue to work on this effort.

Fitbit Update: 10/3/18

Hey Everyone!

Our team is still working on implementing a longterm fix for syncing with Android devices on Pie (9.0).

For the background syncing issue, I have posted an update in the other floated thread which you can find here

We released Fitbit for Android version 2.80 today which contains improvements for that syncing issue.

I'll make sure to keep you all updated with more information, as soon as I have it available. We're still working on this and I really appreciate everyone's patience.

Fitbit Update: 9/26/18

Hey everyone!

Thanks so much for your patience and cooperation. We are aware of the issue and working with Google on a solution.

I will continue to provide updates here, so keep an eye on this thread.

Fitbit Update: 9/10/18

Hi, everybody!

Thanks for your patience while our team continues to work on improving syncing for those on Android Pie (9.0). They are actively working on this and for the time being, I recommend you keep the Fitbit app updated on the latest version for best syncing results. Right now that is version 2.78, so if you're not on this version please update! Also, another troubleshoot we recommend is performing a restart on your phone.

When there are more improvements made in the future I'll announce them here. Stay tuned and subscribed to this thread.

Fitbit Update: 8/19/18

We have escalated these syncing issues for those who are now using Android Pie (9.0) to our team for investigation. There aren't any updates at the moment, but rest assured we will keep you informed in this thread when more information is available.

Thanks for your patience!

Fitbit Update: 8/11/18

Hi, everyone! Thanks for stopping by the Community Forums. Smiley Happy

Seems like many of you who updated to Android Pie (9.0) are now having trouble syncing your Fitbit trackers. I'm going to escalate this to our team so they can look into it.

In the meantime, please update the Fitbit app to version 2.76.1 if you haven't yet. Let me know if that changes the syncing behavior. Please follow this thread for updates. I'll keep you all posted here!

Bought my zip thru amazon in sept 2018. When you say RMA, you are referring to returning it? Replacing it?

Returning it for your money back.

Replacing it won't do any good, because the defect is something universal, not an individual problem with one device.

A new version of the Fitbit app was released yesterday. However, the no-sync issue still persists on the Versa.

I don't think the app itself is the problem.

Update! Update! Update! My Fitbit charge 3, after being unable to sync for a week, today totally got dead!!Smiley Mad Rest in peace charge 3 ("piece" applies too, as I could convince the customer service to send me a replacement and I won't be using this particular piece). I am sincerely hoping the replacement model proves to be a positive outlier and syncs well with my phone, fingers crossed!

This morning I was right back to "Bluetooth Issues" again.  So I'm leaning toward the fix on Google's end hasn't made it to a release yet, or they just didn't actually fix the problem

I got the new 2.93 App update from Fitbit this morning.  Still does not sync my Moto Z3 with Android 9.0 to my Zip.  Restarted phone.  Removed Zip battery.  Syncs and first after removing the Zip battery but no sync after that.

I am facing same issue with my charge 2 and Nokia 6 with pie upgrade. None of the workaround works. Restarted device multiple times, not synching.

Does anyone have a Versa that actually syncs with their Android 9 device?  Is this a universal problem?  If so, there should be a general Versa recall.

My son-in-law and grandson and his wife all three each have a versa that work flawlessly. I don't know about my grandson and his wife but I do know that my son-in-law has a pixel 3 with Android p.

In my family we are all Google Pure experience users as following:

Me: Pixel 3XL + Ionic

Wife: Pixel 3 + Versa

Son: Pixel 2XL + Charge 3

Of course we all are using Android 9 (latest security patch) and we don't have problems.

You are, by far, in the minority.

With my Ionic and Pixel 3 I have fewer problems than many folks here, but I still have to cycle airplane mode at least once every 2 days to keep things working.

"by far"? Not even close! Read the thread that is over 100 pages dating back nearly a year!

Also, you are not using ZIPs, these never work

Same here and I'm on the Q Beta 3 update with Pixel 3. I think most Fitbit-ers don't have a problem.

That's because a lot of the same people keep posting. They quit selling the Zip so I'm thinking they don't support it anymore. They should have put that out there.

Yeah, it seems like the newer high-end models generally work, with some intermittent problems (which the "tips checklist" may even help with). However older and more basic models (including definitely the Zip and the One) do not work at all, have never worked, and seem unlikely to ever work.

And, these models were supported when Android 9 came out; they've been discontinued rather than fixed.

Fitbit's strategy seems to be to lie and wait it out. For this reason, I would recommend reconsidering being a customer even if you have a model which happens to work now.

I have a Versa and suddenly it stopped sync with my phone and my Bluetooth app tells me that Bluetooth is off on my Versa.

I finally got my fitbit to sync to my Nokia 6 phone by downloading the Windows 10 app, syncing to my PC and then it appeared on my Fitbit app.  Still waiting to see if notifications appear.

YES, Syncing on my Nokia 6 is working. Previously had tried everything recommended and was not able to get my Charge 2 to connect.  It would send a sync code and stall "connecting" before not working.  Downloaded the PC app on my Windows 10 and then synced to my PC and then without any other action my Charge 2 appeared on my Nokia 6.  It is syncing fine.  BUT still does not send notifications from the phone to the Charge 2.  But At least it is syncing FINALLY
