Fitbit Update: 3/6/19

Hello everyone!

We have some updated troubleshooting suggestions we'd like for all of you on Android Pie (9.0) to try.

First, turn off Background Restrictions/Limitations: Phone settings > Apps & Notifications > Fitbit app > Background restrictions or Background limits.

Then, disable battery limitations:

  1. Go to Settings > Apps > Fitbit app > Advanced > Battery > Battery optimization
  2. Change view to All apps
  3. Search for Fitbit app
  4. Choose Not optimized

Please give the steps above a try to improve syncing with your Fitbit device and Android 9.0 OS. We're still researching and testing out long-term solutions to this ongoing syncing issue. We thank you for all your patience while we continue to work on this effort.

I'll let you know if I receive any additional information on this matter.

Fitbit Update: 10/3/18

Hey Everyone!

Our team is still working on implementing a longterm fix for syncing with Android devices on Pie (9.0).

For the background syncing issue, I have posted an update in the other floated thread which you can find here

We released Fitbit for Android version 2.80 today which contains improvements for that syncing issue.

I'll make sure to keep you all updated with more information, as soon as I have it available. We're still working on this and I really appreciate everyone's patience.

Fitbit Update: 9/26/18

Hey everyone!

Thanks so much for your patience and cooperation. We are aware of the issue and working with Google on a solution.

I will continue to provide updates here, so keep an eye on this thread.

Fitbit Update: 9/10/18

Hi, everybody!

Thanks for your patience while our team continues to work on improving syncing for those on Android Pie (9.0). They are actively working on this and for the time being, I recommend you keep the Fitbit app updated on the latest version for best syncing results. Right now that is version 2.78, so if you're not on this version please update! Also, another troubleshoot we recommend is performing a restart on your phone.

When there are more improvements made in the future I'll announce them here. Stay tuned and subscribed to this thread.

Fitbit Update: 8/19/18

We have escalated these syncing issues for those who are now using Android Pie (9.0) to our team for investigation. There aren't any updates at the moment, but rest assured we will keep you informed in this thread when more information is available.

Thanks for your patience!

Fitbit Update: 8/11/18

Hi, everyone! Thanks for stopping by the Community Forums. Smiley Happy

Seems like many of you who updated to Android Pie (9.0) are now having trouble syncing your Fitbit trackers. I'm going to escalate this to our team so they can look into it.

In the meantime, please update the Fitbit app to version 2.76.1 if you haven't yet. Let me know if that changes the syncing behavior. Please follow this thread for updates. I'll keep you all posted here!

@Solrcg

Yes, as I said above I have my Charge 2 syncing w my Nokia 6 also now.

NOTE: no need to have bluetooth connectivity to sync.

but also NO notifications and NO GPS connect (cause can't get bluetooth to connect).

I am trying to change my exercise shortcuts too, but suspect that won't download to the tracker either.

Getting a tad fed up with the syncing issues on android phone is an understatement! Any idea how much longer this is going on? Seriously thinking about selling my Blaze and get a Sumsung.

Please go ahead and if you are successful in selling your fitbit I will ask you for a favour in selling mine too! I doubt with this news spread worldwide about the issue of fitbit not syncing with android, no one will buy it, especially a used one. The doubt will be looming large! Smiley LOL

I couldn't sell this junk in good faith.  I'd be selling a known defective device to someone who would probably just turn around and complain because it wasn't working correctly.  My only two choices are wait it out and dump it in favor of another device.  Either way, this is my last Fitbit product.  I have nine years of data collected with them, but if it doesn't matter to them, why should it matter to me?

Its shocking and seriously cant believe it takes this long to resolve this issue!

How long are we supposed to wait! Its utterly ridiculous. I feel like I've been miss-sold a product that clearly does not work with android phones. I wish I had gone with a Samsung now! I shall be making a noise about this to anyone that will listen. We cant be the only ones with android phones, we all need to be shouting !! 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

I am ready to shout! Let's do a signature campaign or a viral social media shout maybe!

This is ridiculous! This has been going on for months now with no fix at all. I now can't get my family on our workweek hustle. I have to sync on my iPad and it is super annoying.

Same issue.  Samsung S8+ and pie iOS.  Can't sync unless I turn off Bluetooth and turn it back on, and take out the battery and put it back in.  Very frustrating.  Now my zip has a different step count from the app!🤯

@spatulamine is fixed after applying the april patch, at least I do not have to always switch off WiFi to get it to sync (however, switching it off does still make the process smoother, i.e. more reliable sync).

Anyway I shared the data I collected through this form

4/17/2019 20:11:45 No Samsung Galaxy s9+ April 2019 Zip The only "fix" (it's not a fix) is to pop the battery out for a few seconds, replace and then the zip will sync a single time. It will not sync again until repeating the battery removal. Luckily data saves on the zip for a few days so I am ...

This is the response I have got from Fitbit:

Thanks for providing your email address. We've found your case and seen that the issue isn't about compatibility but a sync issue on Android Pie which our team is still looking into. However, you may still try the troubleshooting provided to you over Chat such as restarting the tracker, rebooting the phone, uninstall and reinstall the app and etc. We appreciate your patience on this. Let us know if you have other concerns in the meantime.

I got a replacement tracker after arguing with customer service last week. The replacement tracker now syncs with my Xiaomi Mi 8 phone, for the time being! I have promised myself not to be very excited about it and hence I am not using any more words or emoticons.

Note that, I also reinstalled the latest version of the app, i.e., V2.93. I have also noticed one thing in the meanwhile that whenever my phone says I have an update for Fitbit app, it actually downgrades the version to version 2.91! I am not sure if that was the case of my charge 3 not syncing or any other issue which we as a layman are not aware of.

Let's see how long the replacement tracker works properly. For the time being, I will be quiet, but I will keep watching this space to see if the big bosses have found a permanent solution to this issue. Also, my sympathies and emotional support will be always there with those whose Fitbit devices are still behaving mischievously.

Well that's good news for you, hopefully it stays working for you. They've fobbed me again which I'm not surprised, I think I'm just going to go with a Samsung watch, fed up with it and lost the will to live now 😩 I'm glad they've done something to help you
