Fitbit Update: 3/6/19

Hello everyone!

We have some updated troubleshooting suggestions we'd like for all of you on Android Pie (9.0) to try.

First, turn off Background Restrictions/Limitations: Phone settings > Apps & Notifications > Fitbit app > Background restrictions or Background limits.

Then, disable battery limitations:

  1. Go to Settings > Apps > Fitbit app > Advanced > Battery > Battery optimization
  2. Change view to All apps
  3. Search for Fitbit app
  4. Choose Not optimized

Please give the steps above a try to improve syncing with your Fitbit device and Android 9.0 OS. We're still researching and testing out long-term solutions to this ongoing syncing issue. We thank you for all your patience while we continue to work on this effort.

Fitbit Update: 10/3/18

Hey Everyone!

Our team is still working on implementing a longterm fix for syncing with Android devices on Pie (9.0).

For the background syncing issue, I have posted an update in the other floated thread which you can find here

We released Fitbit for Android version 2.80 today which contains improvements for that syncing issue.

I'll make sure to keep you all updated with more information, as soon as I have it available. We're still working on this and I really appreciate everyone's patience.

Fitbit Update: 9/26/18

Hey everyone!

Thanks so much for your patience and cooperation. We are aware of the issue and working with Google on a solution.

I will continue to provide updates here, so keep an eye on this thread.

Fitbit Update: 9/10/18

Hi, everybody!

Thanks for your patience while our team continues to work on improving syncing for those on Android Pie (9.0). They are actively working on this and for the time being, I recommend you keep the Fitbit app updated on the latest version for best syncing results. Right now that is version 2.78, so if you're not on this version please update! Also, another troubleshoot we recommend is performing a restart on your phone.

When there are more improvements made in the future I'll announce them here. Stay tuned and subscribed to this thread.

Fitbit Update: 8/19/18

We have escalated these syncing issues for those who are now using Android Pie (9.0) to our team for investigation. There aren't any updates at the moment, but rest assured we will keep you informed in this thread when more information is available.

Thanks for your patience!

Fitbit Update: 8/11/18

Hi, everyone! Thanks for stopping by the Community Forums. Smiley Happy

Seems like many of you who updated to Android Pie (9.0) are now having trouble syncing your Fitbit trackers. I'm going to escalate this to our team so they can look into it.

In the meantime, please update the Fitbit app to version 2.76.1 if you haven't yet. Let me know if that changes the syncing behavior. Please follow this thread for updates. I'll keep you all posted here!

Holy mackerel...it actually might be a fix. (Trying not to jinx it). Downloaded Version 2.83, Updated 11/14, and my One actually synced, WITHOUT A RESET.

Relevant specs:

Pixel 2 XL, Android 9; Security patch level: November 5

Fitbit App 2.83, 11/14/18

Fitbit One, Firmware 6.64

Here's hoping that tomorrow it syncs all day!

Google updated their connectivity services app today. That may be what has
changed things. Actually says the update is to work better with Android Pie.

Pixel 2 with stock Android Pie synched with Fitbit One with no resetting of anything!!  Thanks Fitbit and Google.

It's a sync issue with Android 9. Very widespread. No real fix has been
provided. Been way too long.

Go to the app store and download version 2.83!. My Pixel synced with my Fitbit Flex right away and has been behaving properly for a couple of hours for the first time in months! I think we may finally have a solution here! Yay!

Another one fixed here - Pixel XL with Fitbit One.

I'd downloaded Fitbit app update 2.83 yesterday afternoon. My Fitbit One
synced without pairing and has repeatedly synced since then. My phone is
the original pixel. Seems fixed at least after about 8 hours. Thank you
Fitbit.

Fitbit app 2.83, Flex, Pixel XL with Pie and November patches. After 3+ months, I can finally sync with my phone again.

I don't normally do "me too" posts, but version 2.83 of the Fitbit app seems to have done the trick on my Pixel 2 XL--my One has been syncing regularly since updating the Fitbit app this morning.

So a big thank you to the dev team for what must've been a rough slog these past few months! And thank you as well to our moderators for bearing the brunt of the many frustrated customers on this thread; I wish you'd been able to bring more transparency into this entire process, but perhaps that's something that you weren't allowed to do.

I do have to say, though, that the techie in me would *really* love to know what the problem was, and how it was fixed!

2.83 worked for me as well. Thank goodness!

Hey everyone.

Thanks for the update on the ones that have tried the version 2.83.

Could others with that version of the app also chime in? We'd like to have more updates on the matter. If you already have the 2.83 version and it hasn't synced, please try to follow all of the steps listed in this help article. Those are the regular troubleshooting steps but since we've had some reports that the new  version is working, it might be worth a shot to try them again.

Keep us posted on how it goes.

I have a Zip with a Google pixel 3, and I uploaded 2.83, and I am not syncing. I was syncing last night a bit with 2.82-maybe that was Google's update. But not this morning with 2.83.

Hi Lanuza,

I've gone through the steps following the release of 2.83, and still no syncing.

I have a Charge 2 and Oneplus 6.

Thanks!
