Fitbit Update: 3/6/19

Hello everyone!

We have some updated troubleshooting suggestions we'd like for all of you on Android Pie (9.0) to try.

First, turn off Background Restrictions/Limitations: Phone settings > Apps & Notifications > Fitbit app > Background restrictions or Background limits.

Then, disable battery limitations:

  1. Go to Settings > Apps > Fitbit app > Advanced > Battery > Battery optimization
  2. Change view to All apps
  3. Search for Fitbit app
  4. Choose Not optimized

Please give the steps above a try to improve syncing with your Fitbit device and Android 9.0 OS. We're still researching and testing out long-term solutions to this ongoing syncing issue. We thank you for all your patience while we continue to work on this effort.

Fitbit Update: 10/3/18

Hey Everyone!

Our team is still working on implementing a longterm fix for syncing with Android devices on Pie (9.0).

For the background syncing issue, I have posted an update in the other floated thread which you can find here

We released Fitbit for Android version 2.80 today which contains improvements for that syncing issue.

I'll make sure to keep you all updated with more information, as soon as I have it available. We're still working on this and I really appreciate everyone's patience.

Fitbit Update: 9/26/18

Hey everyone!

Thanks so much for your patience and cooperation. We are aware of the issue and working with Google on a solution.

I will continue to provide updates here, so keep an eye on this thread.

Fitbit Update: 9/10/18

Hi, everybody!

Thanks for your patience while our team continues to work on improving syncing for those on Android Pie (9.0). They are actively working on this and for the time being, I recommend you keep the Fitbit app updated on the latest version for best syncing results. Right now that is version 2.78, so if you're not on this version please update! Also, another troubleshoot we recommend is performing a restart on your phone.

When there are more improvements made in the future I'll announce them here. Stay tuned and subscribed to this thread.

Fitbit Update: 8/19/18

We have escalated these syncing issues for those who are now using Android Pie (9.0) to our team for investigation. There aren't any updates at the moment, but rest assured we will keep you informed in this thread when more information is available.

Thanks for your patience!

Fitbit Update: 8/11/18

Hi, everyone! Thanks for stopping by the Community Forums. Smiley Happy

Seems like many of you who updated to Android Pie (9.0) are now having trouble syncing your Fitbit trackers. I'm going to escalate this to our team so they can look into it.

In the meantime, please update the Fitbit app to version 2.76.1 if you haven't yet. Let me know if that changes the syncing behavior. Please follow this thread for updates. I'll keep you all posted here!

I have tried everything on this board, Reddit, everywhere.  I have had problems syncing to Google Pixel 2 for months.  I give up.  I am going to return or sell this, and go buy an Android watch.  I have been a Fitbit user for years and extremely disappointed.  How their product management team didn't test all these issues before releasing is ridiculous.  Good luck everyone.

I'm on 2.7.6.1. It doesn't show 0 steps, I got it sync once. It keeps saying it can't find the tracker.

I was seeing that with 2.7.whatever it is. Pie just came in last night and I've been seeing the behavior you describe for several days.

This worked. It's dumb but it worked. At least I won't lose my tracker data. Thanks.

Same with me also. I have a ionic and a Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and since they both updated on August 8th they are no longer compatible.  What a double drag. I pray they fix it soon.

Same with me. They say this issue will take 2 weeks to fix. The android updated as well as the fit bit app updated they are no longer compatible.  so since they know what it is, I pray it's a matter of making the two systems compatible again.

I am having the same issue after updating my Pixel XL to Android Pie (9). My Fitbit app is the latest version, 2.76.1 and my Zip no longer syncs. Very frustrating!

Thanks for any help you can give.

I solved it.

In Android 9 Settings in 'Connected devices' I tapped 'Forget' - then connected my Fitbit again. Now sync works! 🙂

I didn't remove my watch in the Fitbit app.

My Fitbit one is updated to the latest version, and I am still having sync issues since the android update. As well as not displaying steps, an already known issue. Hopefully this can be sorted asap! It will sync briefly after a reset, but I can't do this every time I want to check progress.

I had same sync issue with my Pixel and Pie OS as others have experienced with my Zip. I just cleared the Fitbit App cache and now sync appears to be working.  We shall see how long it continues, but I've been able to make multiple manual syncs without issue.  I'm running version 2.76.1 of App.

I have the Fitbit One, and have the 2.76 version of the Fitbit app, and even though my one shows up in my list of devices, it will not sync.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Fitbit app.  This happened after I upgraded to Android 9 Pie.
