Fitbit Update: 3/6/19

Hello everyone!

We have some updated troubleshooting suggestions we'd like for all of you on Android Pie (9.0) to try.

First, turn off Background Restrictions/Limitations: Phone settings > Apps & Notifications > Fitbit app > Background restrictions or Background limits.

Then, disable battery limitations:

  1. Go to Settings > Apps > Fitbit app > Advanced > Battery > Battery optimization
  2. Change view to All apps
  3. Search for Fitbit app
  4. Choose Not optimized

Please give the steps above a try to improve syncing with your Fitbit device and Android 9.0 OS. We're still researching and testing out long-term solutions to this ongoing syncing issue. We thank you for all your patience while we continue to work on this effort.

Fitbit Update: 10/3/18

Hey Everyone!

Our team is still working on implementing a longterm fix for syncing with Android devices on Pie (9.0).

For the background syncing issue, I have posted an update in the other floated thread which you can find here

We released Fitbit for Android version 2.80 today which contains improvements for that syncing issue.

I'll make sure to keep you all updated with more information, as soon as I have it available. We're still working on this and I really appreciate everyone's patience.

Fitbit Update: 9/26/18

Hey everyone!

Thanks so much for your patience and cooperation. We are aware of the issue and working with Google on a solution.

I will continue to provide updates here, so keep an eye on this thread.

Fitbit Update: 9/10/18

Hi, everybody!

Thanks for your patience while our team continues to work on improving syncing for those on Android Pie (9.0). They are actively working on this and for the time being, I recommend you keep the Fitbit app updated on the latest version for best syncing results. Right now that is version 2.78, so if you're not on this version please update! Also, another troubleshoot we recommend is performing a restart on your phone.

When there are more improvements made in the future I'll announce them here. Stay tuned and subscribed to this thread.

Fitbit Update: 8/19/18

We have escalated these syncing issues for those who are now using Android Pie (9.0) to our team for investigation. There aren't any updates at the moment, but rest assured we will keep you informed in this thread when more information is available.

Thanks for your patience!

Fitbit Update: 8/11/18

Hi, everyone! Thanks for stopping by the Community Forums. Smiley Happy

Seems like many of you who updated to Android Pie (9.0) are now having trouble syncing your Fitbit trackers. I'm going to escalate this to our team so they can look into it.

In the meantime, please update the Fitbit app to version 2.76.1 if you haven't yet. Let me know if that changes the syncing behavior. Please follow this thread for updates. I'll keep you all posted here!

Just for your info.

Pixel2, Android 9 November update, flex

I gave up with Fitbit back at the end of September when it was still not fixed. Use a different tracker now, cheaper than Fitbit and just works.... Anyway I've still followed this and read with interest that it seemed to be fixed. So I tried again out of curiosities sake. And guess what? Still not working. How surprising, not....

Unbelievably poor. Nearly 4 months in and no fix, it beggars belief,  it really does.

My Fitbit flex and pixel 2 started syncing as of Saturday. So far only one instance where I got the tracker not found message, but it only did that briefly and synced after a minute or two. I'm happy to have it back, but I'm not sure I'll buy another Fitbit product when this one dies.

Hello everyone.

Thanks to all of you that have been reporting whether the latest version of the app helped you sync or not. Also to the ones that have shared that their Fitbits are syncing suddenly.

All details on the matter are being shared with the team so that they can continue to work on this issue.

As soon as we have any updates we'll let you know.

My Fitbit One started syncing with my Google Pixel 2. Not exactly sure when it started, but I checked on Thanksgiving again and it is consistently syncing.

Two days after working it has now stoped syncing again and the work around will not work. I tried to reach sync the watch in the settings bluetooth menus but the surge keeps rejecting the pairing. Anyone able to help? As I said before I have a One Plus 6 running Android Pie.

Fully updater 2.83 pixel 2 pie 9.0.   with version 2.8 3 my Fitbit one started working. Thought the problem was solved. Celebrated by pulling the trigger on a Black Friday deal for a charge 3 and ran that since Friday. Stopped working on cyber Monday. Coincidence I don't think so. Glad I kept the receipt.

This is getting absurd, is there a timeline of any sort towards a solution???

Its almost 4 months since android 9 was released

Still is not working. Tried to set it up as a new device as suggested, but my phone could not detect it. It kept trying to restart the bluetooth. If bluetooth was restarted, it just failed outright.

Lucky I have a computer with bluetooth so I could re-attach it to my account, otherwise my Blaze would be useless.

FitBit version: 2.83

With the update to Fitbit 2.83 on my Pixel 2 running 9.0, I've been able to sync to my Flex since November 21st. However, similar to before syncing stopped working for me on September 5th, I need to restart my phone daily to successfully sync to my Flex.

10/3 you said the app updated to 2.8

My version of the Fitbit app is 2.83 and the sync issue is worse, because now my app CRASHES every time I try to sync.

Also still not able to sync, beyond fed up with this mess, every time it seems like one issue was fixed an even major feature stops working. Sunday it was to the point that only my sleep was being tracked. Now my fitbit hasn't synced since the weekend!!!

My original Pixel finally got the November update.  Everything is up to date.

As usual, when I opened the app today, "tracker not found."  No improvement.  Cycling Airplane mode fixes it, but I shouldn't have to do this every time I want to sync my Fitbit.

Four months and no improvement whatsoever.  What a pitiful performance.

I also have the OG Pixel... Just a thought:

I saw on the original thread fot this that someone had success with turning OFF the"always active widget". I tried it earlier, and while my phone doesn't think my device is connected, it IS syncing, getting notifications, and activating my smart Lock trusted devices. (For now anyway) *fingers crossed*
