Android Fitbit app not tracking food and calories intake

I've had an issue for a few months now where my logged food doesnt accurately show up on the main screen icon, and instead have to open the full food log to view my calories.

Starting yesterday, the food log is not displaying my calories at all after adding them. Hours later, they might show up, along with all my other attempts to log my food. It's been a mess, and I've had to resort to just writing it all down.

Customer Support told me to log out, restart my phone, log back in, and try logging. That didn't work. Then they said to uninstall the app and reinstall the app. That didn't work either. I'm still having this issue today, and it's quite frustrating because it's like the main thing I use this app for.

Is this some bug that just needs addressed in an update? My app is up to date, having an update done two days ago. Anyone else having this issue?

Edit: I would like to add that this only seems to affect the quick calories input. Any specific measured food I add seems to show right up, but since I use quick calories throughout most of the day, I cant accurately track my food anymore.

I am now on version 3.62.1 and still no luck. Why even bother to send out an update when the main issue is not fixed??

As many others I experienced that the calories didn't show at the food log icon in the fitbit android app. Now it's back but along with the calorie problem and several other issues with adding foods, I was unable to add new customised foods. Whenever I try customising a new food I can put in the details as normal but as soon as I tap "save" and get to the part when I can log the item for the first time, it just changes my measurement of the item to "serving" even tho I choose "grams" or "mls" every time. Ok, I think, I can convert the 134g to 1.34 servings as the macros are for per 100g. But whenever I try to find this food item later to log it again, it's gone. It's lile I lost contact to the database or something so my new items won't save.

Ofc I have tried logging out, reinstalling the app, re-pairing the versa 3 with my phone and so on. Nothing works and this has been going on for a month.

Please help

Just chiming in to say the fix is temporary at best. I too have logged off and out, Uninstaller and reinstalled. Problem is fixed for a moment, but resumes shortly after.

The problem resumes when you add a new custom food in the app. So don't do that (until it's fixed). Use the website to add any custom foods and it won't happen again.

Since the app updated yesterday, I've been having this same problem.

  • I can enter my foods, and they show up in the day's list. The running calories-in tally doesn't show up at the top of the list nor on the button on the home screen.
  • I can enter a custom food's information, and it will appear in the day's meal list. But it won't show up in the Recent database.

Then what is the point of this app?  I guess it's time to research a new tracker.

With the update a couple months ago came a glitch where the app doesn't save the serving size properly for custom food. I will change it from bar to gr (or ml, or whatever) and serving size to 100, but when I save it reverts to 1 Bar. I tried leaving it at bar and just changing to 100, but same thing.

I thought, ok, I will just put in how many calories for 1 gr, but I can't use decimals.  This means that I have a lot of 'quick calories' every day and have to constantly look up the calories in things I eat. Its really annoying, especially as this happened right at the beginning of summer when I started eating a bunch of new things that weren't in my list yet.

Please, please, please fix this!

I have a problem that when I track my calories, it will not display in the chart so it seems like I am always under budget when in reality I am at the budget or have exceeded it.

Anyone else having this problem?

I'm starting a diet and wanted to start tracking my food. I started yesterday, 7/6/2022. It worked fine most of the day yesterday, but this morning I'm finding that anything I've tracked since about 5pm yesterday isn't saving in the app. Custom foods aren't saving in the app. Manual calories are not saving in the app. I add the stuff, the totals don't update, I log out and back in, and everything I've added is gone. Nothing is showing up on the website.

From what I can tell, this has been an issue for a long time. Fix your app!!! 😡

Also, I'll note that I've logged out and back in. Same issue. I've cleared cache and data. Same issue. I've uninstalled and reinstalled. Same issue. App and Android are both on the most recent versions available.

I finally gave up and ordered a new tracker. This is the second time in the last few years that Fitbit has had a problem that's taken them weeks/months to fix.

I'm now having other issues besides the food tracking portion. It's showing I've met my goal weight even though I'm still several pounds away from achieving it. I've checked and it shows the correct goal weight, but when I go back out to the opening page of the app it shows the correct weight but with the message "You did it!"

My Sleep Profile is showing only 7 nights have logged and encourages me to "wear your Fitbit device to bed for at least 14 days" even though below that message it shows months of scores.

The frustration continues . . . anxiously awaiting arrival of my new smartwatch by a different manufacturer.

Mods haven't replied in a while so im wondering if this is still even being looked into. Its July now and this started months ago. I suggested Fitbit to many people because of how much i enjoyed my watch and app, but this has been extremely disappointing. At this point ill have to suggest a different smart watch.

After updating app to the version 3.62 (running on Android 11) the problem still remains the same. What was this update good for???

Really good question. That's why I'm still using version 3.58 😊

My phone just updated the Fitbit app to version 3.63 from the Android Play Store, and I have some good news to report. (Finally!)

Just a quick side note: to be safe, I installed it to a separate profile on my device (a fresh installation of the app), so as to not mess with what's currently working in my main profile. (You know, just in case the problem still wasn't fixed.)

So anyway, I logged in to the app. I created a custom food. After that, it took me to the screen to log the food. When there, I saw the serving size drop-down show up. Immediately this was an improvement over the past few versions of the app. I proceeded to log the food, and I added another food just for fun. And after a few minutes, voila, it all showed up on the Fitbit dashboard.

So it looks like the problem is finally fixed with version 3.63, as far as I can tell. Hope everyone else's experiences are the same.

That's really good news. I will test this version soon, but according to your experience I think it will be fine.

Would have loved to have heard about the new version from Fitbit first, though.

These updates don't usually show up for everyone all at once. If you don't see it today, my guess would be that you'll likely see it sometime in the next few days.
