Android Fitbit app not tracking food and calories intake

I've had an issue for a few months now where my logged food doesnt accurately show up on the main screen icon, and instead have to open the full food log to view my calories.

Starting yesterday, the food log is not displaying my calories at all after adding them. Hours later, they might show up, along with all my other attempts to log my food. It's been a mess, and I've had to resort to just writing it all down.

Customer Support told me to log out, restart my phone, log back in, and try logging. That didn't work. Then they said to uninstall the app and reinstall the app. That didn't work either. I'm still having this issue today, and it's quite frustrating because it's like the main thing I use this app for.

Is this some bug that just needs addressed in an update? My app is up to date, having an update done two days ago. Anyone else having this issue?

Edit: I would like to add that this only seems to affect the quick calories input. Any specific measured food I add seems to show right up, but since I use quick calories throughout most of the day, I cant accurately track my food anymore.

Not sure if this will help anybody else, but I finally was able to restore the calories showing on the dashboard:

1. updated to 3.62

2. logged out of fitbit (lost today's meals)

3. forced stopped the app

4. restarted my phone

5. logged into fitbit

6. entered today's meals

and the dashboard calories works again along with updating my online gym app with the calories (I was unable to do this since June 10th.

I hope this helps somebody else

Good to know, thank you - I'll wait until tomorrow to log out, before I log any food! Then I won't have to re-enter anything.

You're fine as long as you don't create a NEW custom food. This breaks the app as it does not communicate correctly with the fitbit servers.

I wish they'd hurry up and fix it

I don't know, my log is completely empty on the app now. I can only see past food logs on the website, not on the app.

What would you suggest doing now? Is It worth It to start again with food entries or will the data get lost again as the problem isn't fixed yet?

The app has a bug starting with version 3.59.1 as described in my analysis

Unfortunately, no one from Fitbit has reacted yet - @LizzyFitbit

Mine started randomly working for like a week and now no longer working again.  Also it looks like mine did update to the 3.62 but clearly that is useless.

Everyday I log my food, but recently the food I log is fine that day, but the next day the food and amounts are still there, but my Fitbit says I ate zero calories.....but it is not doing it everyday.  Looking at the last seven days Sunday, Wednesday, and Friday say zero calories (even though they are logged in) and Monday Tuesday and Thursday are fine.  Is it my phone?  I have a Pixel 3.  It is not the sane days.  It started on June 9, 2022.

I had to log out and back in for mine to start working properly. I only
lost what I had put in that day.

Something wrong with the food logging part of the app again. You can enter or log in your food and it would keep a running total. Now it has stop working. This is 2 days in a row and the second time this has happened. It needs to be fixed. Im a first time user. Probably wouldn't recommend a fitbit watch to anyone. And definitely wouldn't go premium for sure.

I only have had the watch for 33 days nows.

My phone operating system is Android 10.

I haven't used the feature in a while and wanted to use it again.

I experience the same issue. No reboot, cleared cache, update has helped so far. New custom food can only be measured in bars which frankly broke the functionality entirely. In the current state, it is basically useless to me.

It is pretty dishartening that this issue has been affecting users for over a month and hasn't been resolved.

Will this issue be fixed anytime soon? I would like to know so I can decide if I should cancel my premium and move to another app.

I'm now on 3.62 and adding a custom food still breaks everything. I need to log out and back in for everything to start working again. Adding the custom food on the website (https://www.fitbit.com/foods/log) works just fine.

Unfortunately, 3.62 is still broken and has the same bug as version 3.59.1. If you're interested in technical details: https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Android-App/Android-Fitbit-app-not-tracking-food-and-calories-intake...

Yeah, I saw your post. That's good info. I'm a web developer myself, so I understand all that 🙂 I more just wanted to share the workaround of using the website to add the custom food until the bug is fixed.

I have been creating new food on website for a while. Have a shortcut to my dashboard on phone home page. Then going to app entry to edit as required. If food log/tile doesn't update I just log out of app and back in and things correct. I have also disabled auto update for fitbit and will wait til I hear issues resolved. I am still on 3.59 and know how to get around food logging issues.

Same here.  I noticed that the app keeps removing what I log for food.  It is not allowing me to keep accurate track.  I have tried going in and deleting all my foods online.  And starting fresh with adding new foods to my app yesterday.  today, the food doesn't show entered.  shoot the food i logged 30 minutes ago doesn't show.  It is so FRUSTRATING for it to just disappear.  Then I log out and back in and poof more is gone.  This is ridiculous.

I haven't lost any entries or created items. My entire history is intact. I may lose a new logged item from app but just log out of app and back in and reenter item and all is fine. I sometimes find that after creating new item on web and adding to food data base and logging it I have to log off website before going to app where I can edit item if required.

So, not sure what is happening. Since the source of problems was identified as adding new products, I haven't added anything in the app. Yesterday the app updated to the 3.62 and after that my calories were not adding correctly anymore. I did everything once again, from cleaning the storage to reinstalling the app, and I see again that the calories don't add up correctly today again.. Really tired of this lol not sure the only problem are new products, perhaps there's something more going on?

When is it going to be resolved? I'm sure I'm not the only one who is getting totally fed up with the complete mess that is being made when logging food

Best Answer

This may not get resolved. It's been going on for quite some time. Fitbit is a hot mess. My wife bought a fitbit 4 years ago and that was a disaster. Recently my son bought  me a Charge 5 as a gift and I have this issue. Fitbit is not going to put forth any extraordinary effort as long as product keeps selling. Terrible company.
