Android Fitbit app not tracking food and calories intake

I've had an issue for a few months now where my logged food doesnt accurately show up on the main screen icon, and instead have to open the full food log to view my calories.

Starting yesterday, the food log is not displaying my calories at all after adding them. Hours later, they might show up, along with all my other attempts to log my food. It's been a mess, and I've had to resort to just writing it all down.

Customer Support told me to log out, restart my phone, log back in, and try logging. That didn't work. Then they said to uninstall the app and reinstall the app. That didn't work either. I'm still having this issue today, and it's quite frustrating because it's like the main thing I use this app for.

Is this some bug that just needs addressed in an update? My app is up to date, having an update done two days ago. Anyone else having this issue?

Edit: I would like to add that this only seems to affect the quick calories input. Any specific measured food I add seems to show right up, but since I use quick calories throughout most of the day, I cant accurately track my food anymore.

A few weeks ago Fitbit did an update called 3.60. However the way Google and android works didn't allow everyone to get the update at the same time.

The good news is that android 10 is the minimum version needed to run the update.

The bad news is that the Google play store decides when the update will be available for you.

When you get it, it will be called 3.62.

The work around for the moment is to log your meals via fitbit's website. After the update, restart your phone and your data should sync automatically.

I'm on Android 12 and just went through these steps this morning.

I know that isn't as convenient as simply logging food via the app, but it will work until Google makes the update available.

This is an issue many of us experienced after the 3.60 update.

Apparently Google play store staggers the availability of the update based on your version of Android.

Im on Android 12 and got the 3.62 update this morning. At first things looked worse than ever. I had zero calories for the day and was somehow over budget. However once I restarted my phone, the issues were fixed and the app automatically synced with all the meals I had logged via the website for the last week.

Hope this helps.

Hi @KrisAnderson16,

Someone else just posted a similar question.  The fact that you have a Fitbit is great, however, the ability to log food has nothing to do with the type of device you have.  The ability to log your food is available for all Fitbit devices.

With that said, the ability to log food, while available on both Android and iOS, is totally dependent on your app version.  Can you please provide details about your OS and app version so I can move your post to the right forum?

I've got good news and bad news.

The good news is I did manage to fix the logging issue.

The bad news is, depending on your version of Android that fix may not be available.

I'm on Android 12 and the new 3.62 update went through for me yesterday morning. I had to restart my phone to make it work, but after that the app ran as well as it did a month ago.

The update will require at least Android 10.

If it isn't available for you yet, I do have a workaround.

You can log your meals via the Fitbit website. It will show up on your phone, but I wouldn't try to use the app log beyond looking at calories in/out.

When you get the update, simply restart your phone and the app should sync with the data you put in the website.

Happy 4th.

I agree. I've just bought a Garmin. When I made this post, I had no idea it had been going on so long and its disheartening to see so many people frustrated. If we have invested in fitbit for whatever reason, from improving fitness and trying to get healthy or as very athletic people, we deserve better customer support. I had a very jaunty initial response to my post but all I've had since is a realisation from all the replies that no one is getting any real help. These devices cost a lot of money and they are not going to last much longer as alternative options are becoming more available and affordable. I did three different surveys to find the best device for me, and not once did I get Fitbit as a match. I wish you all the best of luck and I hope you get the results you deserve. I'm charging my Garmin now, so signing out, logging off and unistalling.

Is this going to be fixed soon, having issues where the tracker has failed for over a month now. Still putting my food intake in because I can still manually track CICO on a spreadsheet, but it's frustrating that I'm paying for a subscription to an app that doesn't correctly do what I bought the subscription to do more frequently. Macros are a mess and the graphs are completely out of whack.

Yes, that's what mine has done.  Very annoying

Had this problem for a while, now, updated app, this coupled with my earlier problems and that it is impossible to actually see the display on the band except in the dark mean this will be the last Fitbit I ever buy, gawd knows what I'll get yet.

Sounds like the brightness on your device is set to "dim". On my Charge 4, I can go into the settings on the device itself and change the brightness between "normal", "dim", and "auto".

For the food tracking issue, log out and back in and don't add any custom foods in the app. Add them on the website. Then you'll be fine until the bug is fixed.

Nah the brightness is up on normal, over the last year it's faded to the
point where in direct sunlight it's unreadable. The software is lousy as is
the hardware I've had cheap xiaomi mi band with similar issues before I
didn't expect it on something several times the price.

I'm tired of waiting for a fix. This has been going on for several weeks. After paying as much as I did for the Versa 2, I shouldn't have to track my food using another app. Granted, it syncs with Fitbit, but I have to log the food in the other app and look at the totals and nutrients there because when it syncs to Fitbit, only the actual number of calories shows up in Fitbit, not what they are or what their nutrients are. This is the second time I've had a major issue with Fitbit that took weeks (months?) to fix so I've ordered a smartwatch from another manufacturer. I won't be buying from Fitbit again.

Oh my god, it's happening to me too. Turned my phone on and off, I have logged out, now when I do that I lose 3 -4 days worth. I'm trying to calorie count and this really not helping. Today I lost everything from July 1st. I had already re- input calories a couple of times. But I can't remember 4 days worth. Fitbit sort it out!! Also mine is all forms of input not just quick calories. And my saved custom things disappear too. Let me know if you get a fix and vice versa. X

Still not fixed! This is really bad. Does Fitbit not care at all about their customers? For a brand that is all about fitness, to have such a deal breaking bug in the system for so long is unacceptable.

Most recent Android version, most recent Fitbit version.

Adding a custom food is what triggers everything to break. So now that you've logged out and back in, don't add custom foods in the app and you'll be ok. Only add custom foods on the website until the bug is fixed.

From everything I've seen in the last few months custom foods are definitely the trigger and customer support has no clue how to help.  I can't believe this still isn't fixed.  I've been entering my custom foods as quick calories but I can't track my macros.

Add your custom foods on the website and you'll still be able to track your macros.
