My emails started coming through in the middle of the night. I have spent the last hour trying to turn them off, but it resets and turns it back on after syncing. I won't be able to stand getting my notifications on my watch. I get hundreds of emails a day, which as someone has already stated, is going to drain my battery. I noticed that my app updated and tried uninstalling and reinstalling and unpairing and repairing, but I'm still getting the notifications. This needs to be fixed.

So it's not just me! Maybe now we might get some attention....but it has been a looooong wait!

I don't want email notifications on my fitbit that's why I've disabled them. However the email notifications in my settings won't stay disabled! I turn it off and then go back to the device settings and then it's turned back on when I go back to the notifications settings.

Came here to find out how to fix it. I figured it had to do with the update 🤦🏻:female_sign:😡 Hopefully it can get fixed quickly.

I've just turned off my vibration - guess what else doesn't work? Disabling all notifications?! It still leaves the email one enabled. This is an annoying glitch that needs to be fixed.

I have found out by accident that if you turn off your email notification but don't back out of your fitbit app they will stop coming thru. Pain in the butt that you have to do this everytime you look at your app for something else.

Ive been in contact with technical support and they seem to give the standard fixes...turn on off ...log out in ... turn off phone back on....like everything was working before update. They asked me to factory restore my fitbit.... i wasn't going to but i did..... after getting everything back the way it was, guess what..... problem was still there. Useless when they blame the user instead of recognizing the issue is with the update. They act like its just me.... told them to take a look here. Thumbs wayyyyy down to fitbit support!

Same problem here and already tried all the fixes listed. So annoying. Come on fitbit get your $hit together and fix your bugs.

What is the best answer

There is no official best answer atm, as nothing much seems to help.
I have a minor workaround that is helping me. I installed a second email app and set it up with my least used email account (a sock-puppet burner signup account, so it doesn't get much email). I then went to Fitbit, Profile, Charge 4 (or your device), Notifications, Email. Then change the default email App to the newly installed one with a low volume of incoming mail. This has pretty much stopped the issue for me. Waiting for the proper fix now.
(As a side note, for an email app to show up as an option in Fitbit, it needs to have an active email account associated with it).

Im tired of doing work arounds why cant they do a new update , remove the recent one....take us back to before....then figure out s fix this is annoying. Especially when they say they are aware but through email support they act like its just me. Happens way to much.

For now, the only solution, downgrade to 3.40 version from 22 march if you've a backup anywhere or disable the whole notification permissions for fitbit (it's a bit tricky and varies from phone to phone even from Android version, but in general something like Settings->Apps-> (three dots upper right corner)-> Special access -> Notification access, you'll see some apps on, disable fitbit for sure, it'll stop every other notification, as phone or text, but at least you get rid off email too).
It's the only way to turn off the notification from fitbit, even if you disable everything else, the email notification will be on as soon as the tracker sync again. Don't even try to reset the tracker, nor unpar-pair, nothing works, the email thing will turn on every time.

Funny thing, I got the same idea about trying to install another email app, but the two options I did try wasn't showing under the email notification menu, only in the app notifications in general.
So I read that some people got the issue with outlook, I'm lucky that I don't have that app installed. You can install the official outlook from Play Store and you don't even need to configure an account, it would show in under the email notification (I'll rename that menu as forced gmail in your tracker, yes or yes).
Just select outlook, turn off all permission from the new app, don't even open it -i did it and it tried to switch my samsung account to outlook, sorry but nope-, turn off the notifications from outlook just in case, and done.
No more emails, everything else working just fine.

Fitbit is getting worse and is making the iWatch and other smart watches look good.
I have a versa 3.
What have you done with Fitbit?
I disable email notifications in my settings because I do not want email notifications on my Fitbit. Yet, some 5 minutes later, the email notifications is automatically turned on and emails are coming through on my Fitbit.
Why??????
How can you get something so simple so wrong? Every time I disable it, the setting is automatically turned on for some stupid reason.
Why do email notifications not disable when I set it?

Why because of a known problem.
I'm moving your Android question out of hardware support, and into the thread on this subject.

Ever since the update yesterday, I cannot disable email notifications for my charge 3. I turn off the email notifications in the app and it just turns it right back on. I don't want email notifications being sent to my watch.

Can you tell all of us when on earth this nonsense is going to be fixed?
Why do fitbit have backyard programmers who cannot ensure that when email notifications is set to disable, to stay disabled?
I am continually being spammed by emails that I do not want to be notified about.

It seems that this is a known bug that Fitbit are working on. Keep an eye on the following thread where they are posting updates:
