Hey there @SunsetRunner, thanks for stopping by! Can I have the model of your Android phone? Have you checked if it's included in our list of supported devices?
If so, I'd like you to give a try and follow these troubleshooting steps to see if they might solve the issue:
- Make sure that your Fitbit App is up-to-date
- Log out of your Fitbit App
- Force quit the App
- Restart your Charge 2
- Turn off the Bluetooth
- Shut off your phone and turn it on after 1-2 minutes
- Turn on the Bluetooth
- Log back into your Fitbit App
- Make sure that "Enable Notification Widget" is turned on. This can be found with other notification settings in the Fitbit Android App.
- Turn on "Always Connected" in the Fitbit Android App. What this does is improve the Bluetooth connection between your Charge 2 and your mobile device.
- Verify that you have notifications turned "On" on-device by holding the button on your Charge 2 for two to three seconds when your Charge 2 is displaying its clock face.
PS: I moved your post to the Android App board as here are more chances to get app related replies.
Looking forward to your response!

Thanks for letting me know the mobile phones you're using @SunsetRunner @AndreusMaximus! The reason why your trackers are not syncing/pairing with your Xiaomi Redmi 4X or your OnePlus 5T is due to these devices are not compatible with the Fitbit app.
This means that our Android team has not yet tested them for compatibility and added them to the list what means that we don't have a estimated date on when they will be added. If the device supports BLE (AKA Bluetooth 4.0), that would be an explanation of why the tracker were syncing.
Note that if the tracker gets to sync (like it happened in this case for both devices), we don't guarantee that the functionality will be optimum as we are still testing on this phone model.
If setup/sync does not work, I recommend setting up and syncing via a device listed as supported or using a Windows 10/Mac computer with integrated Bluetooth 4.0 running the Fitbit Software.
My sister owns a Huawei which is not yet a supported device, but she has tried the following (which I think won't hurt if you try that as well):
1. Your phone must not be set to "visible for other devices"
2. Your phone must not be "searching for other devices"
If either of these two things are active, the Fitbit cannot connect.
In other words, you have to set it to invisible, and you have to click the stop button if it is searching for devices. So, Bluetooth should be on, but not doing anything at all in the Bluetooth menu. Then force quit the Fitbit app and it'll sync. At least it has done with my sister's phone for over a month or so.
If you're able to connect your phone to your tracker but you keep having syncing issues, keep in mind that this will be due to the incompatibility of the phone. What means that the functionalities have a chance to work if you try some troubleshooting steps, I'd suggest following these steps:
- Uninstall and reinstall the Fitbit App.
- Turn off the Bluetooth, WiFi or mobile data and phone.
- Once the previous steps are done, restart your Fitbit.
- Turn the phone, Bluetooth and Internet connection back on and try to sync again.
In addition, I recommend double check the following for the notifications:
- Open your "Messages" app on your Android device.
- Go to "Settings."
- Click on "Notifications."
- Make sure there is a checkmark next to "Preview Message" (As shown below).
If the previous steps does not work, you can also try the syncing process with a different mobile device or use the computer by downloading the Fitbit Connect software as I've suggested before.
I'll be around if you need further assistance!
