Fitbit Update: 8/15

Hey all!

This week we released the option to opt-in to use the new dashboard to everyone. At this time, everyone should have received the option to opt-in already. If you didn't opt-in, we will transition everyone into the new dashboard in the coming weeks.

A reminder, after you've opted into the new design you cannot revert and go back to the old one. Read more about the new interface we've designed here: What’s the new Fitbit app experience?

Make sure you're also on the latest version of the Fitbit app.

Thanks for your patience while we completely released the new interface to everyone. We hope you're enjoying the improvements that have been made and appreciate all the feedback.

Fitbit Update: 8/6

Hey everyone!

Thanks for all your feedback on the new dashboard design. We're still in the process of releasing it to all of our users. If you don't see it yet, you will have it pushed to you in the coming weeks! This has been a slow process for the past few months to ensure a smooth rollout.

We're currently on app version 3.3, so please make sure as always that you have the latest version of the Fitbit app

Once we've released this new dashboard to everyone, we will announce it in this thread.

Fitbit Update: 6/17

Hi Fitbit Family,

We are still rolling out our updated Fitbit app design to more users currently with v.2.95. Please make sure to update the Fitbit app by visiting the Google App play store if you haven't already. If you don't see the new dashboard just yet, you will be receiving it at some point in the coming weeks.

Thanks so much for your patience throughout this rollout. To read more about this new dashboard experience, please check this article out: What’s the new Fitbit app experience?

Once this rollout is complete, we will let you all know in this thread.

Fitbit Update: 5/23

Hi everyone!

We’ve rolled out another phase of testing for the new app dashboard experience. If you’re one of the lucky people to see it before the full release, you can read more about it here: What’s the new Fitbit app experience?

We’ll continue to slowly release this to all Fitbit customers on iOS and Android. Once we receive more information on this, we’ll let you know.

Hope you’re all enjoying this new layout!

Fitbit Update: 4/24

Hi everyone!

Beginning today with app v2.92, we're excited to announce a new dashboard experience for the Fitbit app, currently by invitation only. If you are invited to opt-in, you can see the new design and try our new app experience to access all your stats and information in a way that’s more dynamic, integrated, and highly personalized.

You can read more about it in this help article: What's the new Fitbit app experience?

As with all our new dashboard updates, this is a progressive rollout. If you don't have an invitation or see the dashboard immediately, you will receive it later on.

We will update this thread with more information later, so stay tuned!

@Rich_Laue just to clarify: in EU (so also in UK at least until it's part of EU) warranty is by law at least 2 years, regardless where the object has been purchased.

Therefore any Fitibt purchased from any retailer must have 2 years warranty, not only those purchased directly from Fitbit Store.

Not quite any retailer - it has to be on the approved reseller list to qualify for the Fitbit warranty. So not, for example, eBay

But what if someone buys their Fitbit from a Canadian store while visiting, @Giampi71. this is why I added this

Eu is treated as one country from a manufacturer's standpoint. In UK buyers contract is with seller so if product fails buyers returns to seller and he has to fix, replace, refund etc.  Manufacturers warranty it not really the issue in UK except in the case of large white goods where the manufacturer or his agent needs to do a field repair. Ask whirlpool!

@Rich_Laue

Differently from US in EU laws protect the rights of every citizen in Europe and not only European (see GDPR for example). Hence if a non-European purchased something in Europe the warranty applied is 2 years (this is technically valid also if the purchaser is no longer in Europe, in this case however the shipping prices to send back the good could represent a problem).\

However the law doesn't apply in other countries so if an European buy somethings in Canada the warranty is as in the country where he purchased the good. Because you can't impose your law to another country (again, differently than what US want to do).

Hi Giampi71,

True, we are moving into a technically complex, if you buy from Ebay it is not clear whether you are contracting with a European seller or if seller is Chinese for example in which case you have virtually no rights at all.

What I do if in doubt is email seller with a question check time I get response and look at header to track sender origin.

Unreliable connecting to fit bit one since the July update. Requires reset ever morning then keeping fingers crossed it will connect and sync.

Is the pre Jul version available? It was rick solid

Glad ur happy. Don't forget to turn off auto update otherwise the app will be updated and you will be back to problems.

Assuming you are on android it you don't know how to do it send private message.

Pity my post was edited by moderator others could have benefited.

Ive given up. My Charge2 is still not syncing. Ive done all the trouble shooting methods suggested by the Fitbit Community and team. Nothing has worked. I enjoyed the device, but im on the hunt for a different device.

I'd like to have the New Dashboard too. It looks quite interesting.

So would I. This "hurry up and wait" is getting ridiculous. Are you rolling out one per day?

They may have edited your post but they sure can't pull back all the email notifications of these posts.... GAME OVER FITBIT!!! Now we can all roll back to the previous version.

What has support responded with when reaching out to them.

If we annoy support enough something may happen.

I haven't heard anything but have seen reports of missing data for some with the new UI and this may have something to do with the delay.

Best Answer

Thanks, @Rich_Laue. In theory, that's a great idea (annoying support). However, the people I've chatted with have told me to look for the next Android app update (which at the time was 3.1) and then I would have the new UI. That came - no new UI. Then came 3.2 - still no new UI. As many have said here, they are not related. I am not sure the support folks know that. Lots of people here have mentioned going back to an earlier version. I am reluctant to try that because 3.2 is working and syncing well. I'm afraid I'll break something that's working if I do that.
Truly, no one (I think) will be mad if Fitbit simply says that a small quantity were released for testing, some issues have been identified, and they're working to fix those. That would be much better (and much more professional) than this business of it's coming, but who knows when. Besides, the other frustration is that help instructions now all say things like "click on the Today tab." That's useless if you don't have that.

The moderators say that the app update and the UI update are unrelated.

My experience, I was white listed on thef server almost 2 months ago, and the experience of others confirm that the UI update is released through the Fitbit server, not an app update.

Your post also confirms this.

My advice as an old timer if it's not broke don't fix it it took me weeks to get my fitbit versa and app working reliably and I shall not be upgrading any thing until I see a great more user satisfaction with new versions new UI's etc. I have turned off auto updates for the app and saved a copy of 3.1 just in case.

Me too. Ever since the July update my Alta HR sync with the Android app has been very unreliable and sometimes very very slow (30 minutes vs. 30 seconds). Phone is Droid Turbo 2 currently running Android 7.0.
