Fitbit doesn't sync with Samsung?

I used to use Fitbit and bought them as gifts for my employees, friendss and family. Nothing like a high-tech gadget at a reasonable price.. the only challenge is the apps are no longer cutting edge but in fact dinosaur technology. It has become evident to me that Fitbit is no longer investing and it's apt software. This is evidenced by how it will no longer sync with Samsung phones such as the s10, the s20, the s21, and now the s22. Such a poor experience and shame on Fitbit for continuing to market that their app and Fitbit devices compatible with these phones.

**Fitbit buyer beware**

Hello everyone!

Thanks for your posts about syncing your Fitbit with Samsung devices. Please note that Samsung devices have power-saving features that can prevent the Fitbit app from running in the background. That will surely affect syncing. I recommend you take a look at the following articles:

Source= me... I have tried to connect Fitbit to my Samsung s10, s20, s21 and s22. Sent from my Galaxy

Source? Me. I have tried to connect the Fitbit to my S10, s20, s21, and now s22. It will not connect. I've also worked with Fitbit tech support and they were unsuccessful (and apologetic) that it will not connect.

I have found several places saying they are compatible, including here on these forums, some from users who had problems, but then got them it work.  I am trying to compile some sources for you to look at to see if they have any suggestions that might help you.

I might add, in my opinion, Fitbit support is not necessarily the end-all with all answers.  I can understand why, being expected to know everything about every product and app, but I also often see people who find answers here on the user forums to problems that official support could not solve.

Also note the minimum Android version requirement has recently been raised from Android 8.0 to 10.0.

etc - I got those by googling "Fitbit Samsung Snn"

I got the idea there may be some idiosyncrasies connecting to Samsungs, but ways around them by people here who have done it.

@ZenZenTraveler Nice to see you here again in the forums. Thanks for your feedback and the explanation. However, I do believe Fitbit devices can sync with the Samsung models you just listed.

I suggest you try the tips in the following articles:

I forgot how I connected, so I checked, and I am updating Samsung Health via Strava.

You have to treat it like a new fitbit. So in other words you have to re-pair with the fitbit with the app.  Go to Set-up a device, select the one you want and go from there.

Huh?  I had my Charge 4 paired with a S10 for years.  I just upgraded to a S23 and had to reboot the Fitbit to get it to pair, but it then paired fine.

I have a Samsung s22 and my fitbit syncs perfect....can also sync all information between fitbit and Samsung health as well you will need to download health sync in order for the 2 app to communicate with eachother.....so IMO something is an issue on your end of things and has nothing at all to do with fitbit nor Samsung.....but maybe I'm just one of the lucky few idk...BUT THEY DO INFACT SYNC WITH SAMSUNG.....I do hope you can solve the issue for you and anyone else..........take care stay happy healthy and blessed in whatever way you feel best

Hello everyone! Welcome to all newcomers.

Thanks for sharing your experience with Fitbit and Samsung devices. All Android devices are compatible as long as they support Android 9 and they have a Bluetooth connection enabled. Thanks to all for sharing ways to get to sync the Fitbit data with other accounts. That will surely help other users.

Update to my previous comment:  After having had to reboot my Charge 4 to pair with my new phone I later was trying to pair my wife's Charge 2 with the old S10--wasn't working, I reached the point of going to look up how to reboot the Charge 2 and that scared it into behaving--paired while I was walking to the computer.

(Yeah, I know, it didn't actually get scared.)

I have Charge 4 and new Samsung S23.  Can't get them to pair.

Have restarted Charge 4, the phone, Bluetooth, uninstalled and reinstalled Fitbit app on phone.  The phone sees the Charge 4 in the "add new device" step, sends a code to the device, then never pairs.  The Charge 4 flashes a message that I need to download or upgrade the Fitbit app.  That's as far as I get.

Just sharing, I've used a pixel phone for years, pixel 1, 4, always working perfectly with fitbit and all bluetooth pairing in all of the 7 personal and work vehicles I use.

I went with a samsung A54 fitbit paired but doesn't sync automatically.  Often shows not connected. It drives me insane. No updates on wrist for msg and notifications.

And my samsung doesn't pair automatically to some of my vehicles.

Also I have a samsung s21 fe and it doesn't connect bluetooth automatically.

The issue is a Samsung issue.  I've spent hours googling it. Samsung is junk in this bluetooth area from s20, s21, s22, a53, a54 and others! Updates from samsung have no effect or change in behavior.

Ready to throw samsung in the trash.

Welcome to the Fitbit community, @ZenZenTraveler!, @Jw22ca and @Speenaksh22!

Are you running One UI 5.0 on your Samsung devices? There seem to be issues with that Samsung update based on Android 13 and Fitbit devices:

One UI 5.0 update breaks Fitbit Charge 5 sync on some Galaxy devices

This issue already has been acknowledged by Fitbit:
