Issues with nutrition and weight graphs after update

With the latest app update, most of the charts have become unusable. On the weight chart, I can no longer distinguish between the weight and the trend (because they are the same color). Also, I can no longer tap on the screen and get the date for that data point. Also, the x axis on the charts is now fixed to the range of the chart, not the range of the data. Also I can no longer swipe to move from one chart to the next. Also, many chart have been removed.

Who thought that this update was a good idea? Did they do any user testing on this update?

Please rollback this update so I can get the old charting behavior back.

Agree! This "update" is completely backward.

Same issue here.  Using an Android.  So very disappointed I can no longer see my weight trend, especially on the "ALL" settings.  The new view is basically a squished, useless, demotivating mess.  This happened after the "NEW IMPROVED" graphs were released.

How do we do get this feedback to the developers?

They seriously need to fix this. I was happy with the app but this has changed everything.

And please don't forget about the bad and tiny distance/kilometre graph revision.

Y'all, the review team has seen the votes on suggestion page
please comment on this and vote it up, we need to get it above 40-100 for them to even consider **ahem**

Did that and changed my review in the Play store to 1* as well.

There is a simple solution: revert to the old version, scrap the prototype
and start over. I understand you want a light/dark mode enabled version,
but it has to have same quality as the old one. This is really the work of
an apprentice playing around with a graphics library, it's totally
unacceptable.

Your developers are so keen to keep themselves busy that they will do anything to justify a change. One of the best features of the app has been flushed down the pan. There not a single change in this 'upgrade' that makes it better. Starting with the message: we made the background white so that it is easier to read! In case your developers are living on another planet, here on earth we are trying to make screens less damaging to the eye by turning them DARKER. Now, even if easier to read for some there is no point looking at them because all useful information is gone. Not going to repeat what others said in this thread just to add that we now cannot zoom in on any graph to see details of time and values.

One last thing, don't forget that we are actually paying for the premium service so with every update you are supposed to ADD functionality. Please roll this back and pay your developers to rethink it. If the reason is to make it easier to read make the background dark/ bright a selectable option and leave the graphs alone

The chart only displays a few of the available data points if I take any action that hides the chart and redraws it. An easy one is if I flip to a web browser then flip back to the app. Samsung S10, Android 12.

(I have a separate issue with some of my weight records having disappeared, but that isn't related to the chart.)

And to piggyback, when you click on the calories in for the month, there is no longer the weekly avg of both calories in and calories out. It does give you the average cal in for the week below the graph, but when you click on calories out it gives you the total for the week. Now I have to look in 2 places, and then break out my calculator to get my numbers. I'm all for making things better, but not at the expense of what is already there and unusable charts.

Absolutely garbage update, the designer and product manager incharge of this update really need to be questioned on why they took the decisions they did.

Best Answer

Honestly the update is terrible overall. I do like that the day-year tabs are now available at the top, and there's buttons for the data, but the displays are certainly not "easier to read" as they claim. I actually thought colors on a dark background were easier...and also made the charts better separated from the lists of data below. Now the whole app is bright white. There's a reason I prefer dark mode in most apps.

Not to mention the mass panic they are putting everyone through thinking they've had undetected sleep apnea.

And yeah...no longer being rolling data and instead split off at the first of the week/month/year...not sure how I feel about that. I do like having the split off charts available, but having a "last 7/30/365" days option as well would be nice?

I use this visual for fluid overload on my heart. I need to see a pound or two fluctuation.  Can't find a setting to change the chart range to 10 pounds instead of the 55 pounds they just changed it to.  This is useless as a visual graph.

@LizzyFitbit so we won't see anything like the preferred charts again? Will the "amendments" at least make them readable - because currently they aren't. They're completely illegible. And given past experience with tech queries it'll probably be some time next year before it's addressed. Extremely unhappy with this this, I've cancelled premium and I've gone back to using an old version of the app. Not happy with doing that one bit but otherwise I can't use the product at all.

Best Answer

@DeinGesicht I have premium but don't want it any longer since the update ruined the charts. How did you go back to an older version? Did you keep your data when you went back?

Best Answer

@LizzyFitbit does this include the scaling of the chart and inability to zoom/pan across the data? I mean, yeah I guess every intern on the design department can see the new colors make the two lines completely indistinguishable and I take it on your answer they'll fix that.

The main issue however has to do with the scaling being completely stupid right now, for example, in my month view the scaling on my chart is now sitting at 7kg's above my highest data entry and whopping 13kg's below my lowest entry when looking at a single months graph. Result: The line is pretty much straight, showing little to no information about my month.

Let's take a look at my chart from this month to hopefully illustrate the issue and why this chart update needs to be sent back to development straight away:

Mobile:
-zero info, unless you manage to awkwardly press a data point which is so tiny you won't even be able to read it because of the scaling.
-Scaling in general is just broken: why the hell is it scaled from 106 down to 84 and is there no option to set this yourself, OR zoom/pan etc.
-So yeah, RIP the option to zoom/pan/scroll etc. give us back the option to scroll through all the data!

-Colors: fine, have your fancy blinding white background for the chart, but atleast fix the colors of the lines so we can set them apart?

Dashboard (let's call this "the old graph style"):
-Clear difference between trend/actual measurements
-Scaling makes sense, picking up 95 as my goal weight

-Graph scales horizontally nice as well, making hovering over data much more easy.

-I believe in the old mobile graph you could just zoom and scroll, making viewing entry points nice and easy.

I totally agree. I am especially upset about the weight charts. Everything is so compressed so now you can't see fluctuations. A change of 5 lbs shows up as only a tiny bump. Charts should reflect real life data where that much of a gain or loss is huge. These charts are now garbage.

Best Answer

The weight and trend lines being a very dark green and a very dark blue also help to make them close to unusable.

Also, when selecting each of the week, month, 3 month and year charts, it only displays points from the current one of each of these, so on a Sunday, you can only see the current day. on the 1st of the month, you can only see one day, on January 1, you get to see a single day.

Why not make them the previous 7 days, 30(31) days, etc?

It would have been nice to see the bugs in the energy section fixed.  Using it when kJ is selected gives the wrong amount or wrong bar heights. With no official way to report bugs, they sink without a trace in these forums and don't ever get fixed.  One of the bugs is now gone because the chart was removed.

The height of the current day is in calories compared to the other days being the correct height. Strangely, it shows the right height for a second or so after opening, but then drops to the smaller height.  I'm ok with it saying 11301 calories when I press on the days.

It's even better when you use kilojoules. Either bar heights of some bars are 1 / 4.18 times as high as they should be and some of the totals are 4.18 times what they should be, as though the code multiplies from calories to kJ twice.
