Fitbit Update 06/7/17: Thanks everyone for your feedback on the new Android dashboard. We have relayed this information to our Android team. This thread will now be closed, as the Android team has no plans to revert back to the old dashboard. We're always working towards making improvements to the app and appreciate your cooperation on future app updates.

Fitbit Update 05/22/2017: Hi everyone -- I've read through every post in this thread and the major feedback points and concerns can be summarized as the following:

  • General disappointment with the change (no specific details provided)
  • Lots of empty space/more scrolling/clicks required
  • Bottom tiles don't scroll data with days
  • Unable to fully customize top section with tiles from the bottom section
  • Prefer linear UX design
  • Difficult to read/no dark theme available
  • Can't swipe between days, only able to click to scroll through days
  • Can't to resize tiles

Please let me know if there's something specific that is not on this list. I have relayed this information to our Android team and at this time, it doesn't sound like there are any plans to revert access to the old Dashboard.

I know that any change is going to be a little jarring, but please remember to keep your posts respectful and on-topic, per our Community Guidelines. This thread will be better for everyone as a constructive conversation.

Fitbit Update 04/24/2017: Hi everyone -- Beginning with the release of the Android app version 2.48, the new Fitbit app Dashboard with the updated look will be fully implemented. Users will no longer have the option to switch to the old Dashboard design, so I encourage you to check it out if not already using it.

We're constantly striving to improve Fitbit products and services and we appreciate all of the feedback we receive from our customers. We currently do not have any plans to revert this change; you can find more information about the app and how to start using it by clicking here.

Unfortunately the request to regain lost features in the Android dashboard has been declined and the petition closed by a moderator.

See the moderator's comment here:

I'm afraid that their earlier posts asking the customers to vote for this suggestion were hypocritical at best.

I agree with @Alegrya that voting with your wallet seems like the best thing to do, in this situation, and look for other brands of trackers.

I'll never spend another penny on a Fitbit product. Even Comcast doesn't ignore their customers to the extent Fitbit does.

I want the old dashboard back. 😞

Which is why I have stopped using my Fitbit Charge 2 and WILL NOT recommend it to any other potential users.  There ARE better options out there.  too bad !

I absolutely HATE the new dashboard. It's not as easy to read nor does it present information in the same way. I've been in love with my Fitbit and raved about it for over 18 months now and feel like you've just kicked me in the teeth. That's how much I hate it! I won't be recommending Fitbit to my friends any more after this.

I have PM'd the Moderator not that it will do any good the contents of that email are as follows

I am one of hundreds that is disappointed with this decision, you have also posted the link to the forum which indicates that Fitbit are aware of the discontent with the New Dashboard, yet a moderator has not visited the page for comment since posting 3 weeks ago, which to some people starts alarm bells ringing (its ok to ask for feedback but at least return the favour and not close a subject with no real information or when it doesn't suit)  - especially after the product had been beta tested and several updated suggestions for improvement have been ignored (or so it seems) - the new dashboard in its present state is unfit for purpose and until these are rectified we should have the choice of both - you CEO stated back in April that the APPLE dashboard was confusing (Telegraph - April 2016) - it looks like Fitbit have since decided that they want to BE APPLE - We the customer are not impressed with the go to 3rd party apps to get what we paid Fitbit for - so to take back to your highers - re-instate the old dashboard until the improvements for the new dashboard have been implemented as what we currently have does NOT WORK on any level - and for information there are at least 4 links on this subject running as far back as October 2016,

If you want to view past data for the bottom half of the tiles, simply click on the tile of preference to check out historical data.

That can hardly be called “simply”. Every unnecessary extra click one have to do cannot be called “simply”. An app update should strive to remove clicks, not add them. When clicking in to view historical data, the context goes away. If I eg. would like to compare the food and water intake, this is not possible anymore as I have to “simply” click my way back and forth, back and forth.

That's the main objection I have to the new dashboard. Can't be called dashboard anymore.

The other consern is: I don't give a **ahem** about my step count. The things I care about have been move to the bottom section, out of the way. So the dashbord is in a way useless to me now.

I believe I am not the only one to bring up these two issues. Because of this I have not upgraded the app to the latest version.

I have rated the app 2.48 as 'poor' on the fitbit app install, with associated comments. It needs upgrading again, very quickly, so the dashboard is reverted to something resembling the previous format, or at least to give us a choice. I won't be recommending fitbit to anyone else based on this experience. I know it's on a different scale but imagine taking your car in for a quick service and having it returned with a totally different dashboard layout! Can I have a refund? This isn't what I paid my money for...

Excellent!! So simple and back to old version - thanks v much!

Hi

I need the old app back. How do I get the old .apk with the old dashboard?

The new dashboard has too many icons and I don't understand what the icons are supposed to mean. It's also very slow to download data from your website (and slow to upload data from Fitbit device to your site).

Instead of a single API call why not update field by field?

Hi @ErickFitbit,

Sorry to see this thread is filling up with so much general change hate. That's not me--I like the new dashboard.

I just have one nagging irritation with the new dashboard that's bothering me a little more every time an app update rolls out and this feature doesn't get fixed. I tried customer support first since this thread is now a **ahem**show of new-dashboard-hate, but customer support just sent me back here.

I'm confused by the inconsistency of date choice not applying to all tiles on the dashboard. Here's how I see it from the outside, as a plain ol' user with no knowledge of your design process:

  1. I open the app, turn on bluetooth, swipe down to sync, see a progress bar and then new totals display. "Today" label at the top. (This must be today's data. Sweet.)
  2. I see my progress (steps, water, active hours, sleep, etc) for today.  (ok, as expected.)
  3. As a user, I want to choose a different date in order to see my progress toward my goals on that date. There's a nice affordance for this. Big obvious left arrow. Sweet. I touch the arrow.
  4. "Yesterday" appears at the top of the display. I seem to have accomplished my goal. This must be yesterday's data. I view the tiles assuming they show my data from yesterdary.

However, not all tiles correctly update to show yesterday's data. The top/main tile shows yesterday, but the others are stuck on today no matter what day I navigate to. It sure feels like a bug.

Yes, I can work around it. If I want to see yesterday's stats, I can touch water, look at yesterday, return. Touch sleep, look at yesterday, return. I don't really *want* to do that though. It feels like a cumbersome workaround, an irritation every time I do it. I'd prefer to see "yesterday" all at once.

Updating all tiles to the current day of focus would be consistent with the behavior of the old app dashboard and the current online web dashboard.

So. If this is a bug, can it please be fixed? If it was a conscious design decision, will you please explain the intent so I can quit being irritated every time I use the app?

Thank you!

I know we all loved the old dashboard, but rather than continuing to beat my head against the wall, I am looking at other compatible apps. There are lots of them out there, some focused more on exercise and some more for food tracking. So far I have not found a good mix like the old dashboard, but I love my tracker and don't intend to give it up. Any tracker you move to could change their app just like Fitbit has done after you make the purchase.

If if anyone tries a new app that they like, please pass it along. Thanks!

What apps have you found?  Do they sync to the Fitbit via Bluetooth, like the Fitbit app does?

I am looking to upgrade and I'm not going to hold my breath for fitbit to care about my disappointment.

After 6 months of owning my fitbit altra I am very disappointed to discover that this week my dashboard has changed and I cannot change it back to the old version. I have found for the first time this week I have hardly tracked my progress or even viewed any exercise I have done. Surely this goes against the purpose of owning a fitbit? Please give people the option to go back to the old dashboard!

Bob,

If you go to the Playstore, or just google fitness apps, you'll find dozens. All of them I've looked at utilize Bluetooth.

@ashwolve  Again I appreciate your attempts to get this fixed.  I've given up.  I don't use the Fitbit app anymore, I only keep wearing the stupid thing to track my heart rate for my doctor and the sleep part to prove that I don't.

I will never suggest to anyone to get a Fitbit again.  Go Garmin!

Good luck to those enjoying the new dashboard.

@bobby2478 @Mitch1905 To clarify, the change to only scroll the top half of the tiles with the day was an intentional change, it is not a bug that requires fixing.

If you want to view past data for the bottom half of the tiles, simply click on the tile of preference to check out historical data.

Hi @ErickFitbit,

I'm confused by the date choice applying to only a subset of the dashboard display. Updating the entire dashboard to the selected day of focus would be less confusing, and would be consistent with the behavior of the old app dashboard and the current online web dashboard.

I assumed this was a bug or an incomplete implementation that got bumped in favor of higher priority features. Since you say this was actually a conscious design decision and not a bug to be fixed, will you please explain the intent so I can quit being irritated every time I use the app? If you weren't responsible for this design decision, will you please bring it to the attention of whomever was?

Thanks!
