Fitbit Update 06/7/17: Thanks everyone for your feedback on the new Android dashboard. We have relayed this information to our Android team. This thread will now be closed, as the Android team has no plans to revert back to the old dashboard. We're always working towards making improvements to the app and appreciate your cooperation on future app updates.

Fitbit Update 05/22/2017: Hi everyone -- I've read through every post in this thread and the major feedback points and concerns can be summarized as the following:

  • General disappointment with the change (no specific details provided)
  • Lots of empty space/more scrolling/clicks required
  • Bottom tiles don't scroll data with days
  • Unable to fully customize top section with tiles from the bottom section
  • Prefer linear UX design
  • Difficult to read/no dark theme available
  • Can't swipe between days, only able to click to scroll through days
  • Can't to resize tiles

Please let me know if there's something specific that is not on this list. I have relayed this information to our Android team and at this time, it doesn't sound like there are any plans to revert access to the old Dashboard.

I know that any change is going to be a little jarring, but please remember to keep your posts respectful and on-topic, per our Community Guidelines. This thread will be better for everyone as a constructive conversation.

Fitbit Update 04/24/2017: Hi everyone -- Beginning with the release of the Android app version 2.48, the new Fitbit app Dashboard with the updated look will be fully implemented. Users will no longer have the option to switch to the old Dashboard design, so I encourage you to check it out if not already using it.

We're constantly striving to improve Fitbit products and services and we appreciate all of the feedback we receive from our customers. We currently do not have any plans to revert this change; you can find more information about the app and how to start using it by clicking here.

If I had wanted the new dashboard I would have tried it and kept it.  Instead, I went back to the visually useful dashboard and tolerated that stupid banner.  I see I am not alone in my opinion!  How many complaints do you need in order to listen to your customers?

If UA continues with this dashboard, I will find a tracker which does value it's customers.

It's amazing just how tone-deaf Fitbit is.  A dozen or more pages in this thread, even more in others, and I've seen one post from a user who likes the new dashboard.

Not that I think anyone from Fitbit is listening, but rather than just complaining here are the biggest issues with the new dashboard.

1. It's broken.  When a user swipes side to side to see a different day's data, only the step count changes to that day. Floors, miles, activity, water, everything else stays on the current day. Why would anyone want to see yesterday's step count tied to today's water consumption?  This is just dumb, and should have been corrected before release. Apparently, this was brought to Fitbit's attention by beta testers, and Fitbit chose to release a broken app anyway.

2. It provides LESS data. On the old dashboard, I see not only my current value for the day (steps, minutes, floors, etc.), I see my goal for each. The new dashboard no longer shows the goal. It shows a circle, which approximates how far you are from reaching the goal, but the old dashboard showed both a graphical indicator AND the actual goal.

3. When you exceed the goal, the old dashboard makes that clear, by showing your current value and the goal. The new dashboard gives no indication. Once you reach the goal (e.g., 10,000 steps), the circle is completely green, and any additional progress beyond the goal isn't shown in any clear way.

4. There's too much wasted space, especially at the top of the screen.

There are more things I could mention, but these are the biggest issues. How Fitbit can call showing less information, in an app that doesn't even work correctly, to be progress, is beyond me. I'd love to see someone from Fitbit respond to the above, and explain just how the new app is "better."

So, if they have no intention of taking their customers opinions into consideration, why did they even bother to ask for our opinions?

Probably because the complaints are only a small number of total users.

I have no problem with the new dashboard, it works and looks great.

@Dragonfruit it shouldn't matter how many, a complaint is a complaint and should be looked into, because each one of those small numbers know others and recommendations either way can make of break a company,

its good that you can get on with this new monstrosity, but you must also take into consideration it is not for everyone, and if you have seen all the posts in this thread you will realise that they have alienated a lot of users by not listening to changes that were put forward by the Beta testers and general public to improve the app for everyone,  not wishing to seem discriminate but why would someone in a wheel chair want a huge tile with steps and floors right at the top of the app where they want heart rate and activity, or someone who wishes to control calorie intake/burn there needs to be a little more flexibity another one is when we scroll back to look at yesterdays data we want to see it all not just 1 tiles worth (like in the old dashboard) I personally made 8 such suggestions and although a small amount of votes shows it was a valid comment.(you are welcome to scroll and take a look some may even appeal to you as well

Looks great???? you must have a different dashboard to what the rest of us on here are seeing - a lot of improvements can be made and while they sort through them we should have the option to still switch between the 2...looks like you still have the option if you are on 2.45 the choice is great, not to have it sucks

I'm running 2.48 signature needs updating.

I think Fitbit have far more important things to focus on such as making their software work with the myriad of new android devices out there. They are ao far behind with the device compatibility list it's not funny.

Dashboard is just look and feel.. So many of us with new phones and sync, notification issues.

I also dislike the new dashboard.  Would much rather use the old dashboard.

im on Samsung S6 Edge with Nougat , I accidently updated to 2.48 and regretted the fact the took away the function to swop back (had to trawl to find how to revert to 2.47 which worked fine) -

I agree with your comment " making their software work with the myriad of new android devices out there" which is why I would have thought they should have keeped the ability to switch to a proven working system until ALL the glitches and updates have been made viable and if they are going to use Beta Testing LISTEN to what has been fed back by all not just the feed back that falls in line with what they want, its our money after all, if we didn't buy into it they wouldn't have the funding to expand and explore

I understand not everything will work first time and there will be teething problems as there were with the sleep stages

onward and upward - but they don't have to trample on there customers to achieve it

Hi. I think the problem is that, for many of us, it doesn't work. Many of us use our kit in a way other than that which is now prescribed. I'm sure you can imagine how you would feel if it DIDN'T work for you having been great for very many years - that's how we feel.

I accept it's horses for courses and have said all along that, worst case scenario, could we have the functionality back if not the visuals. Taking tools away is bizarre.

Really TRYING to get used to this new dashboard. It continues to suck. Biggest complaint today: Why did they remove the GOAL number from the dashboard. People on the community board like to post their end-of-the-day board, I personally snapshot mine and post to my Instagram, but it's sucks that you can't see just how far over their goal they achieved.

The new dashboard is useless. Our does not make sense. I am ingredient enough worth words that i do not need a big button picture.

BRING BACK THE OLD DASH!

Best Answer

The problem is that it's clunky and difficult to use. The tiles are too large, so it requires a lot of scrolling, and you can't sweep between days... you have to scroll back up and click a small Arrow to go to any previous days information. On top of that, once there, the data is mostly incorrect... it reflects today's information rather than the date that you've selected, so you have to physically click the icon to see the real data behind it. Incorrect information, and requiring high level of user interaction is why I switched back to the old format to begin with. There's a reason that most of us did that... maybe you should give the option back until you fix these problems.

Sooooo clunky. I hate it. I want more streamlined. It's just unnecessarily awkward. Major design fail.

Bring back the old dashboard, it is much better imo

I have been reading comments about the new app.  So far I haven't seen anyone say the like it.  So I've tried searching for positive comments.  Can't find a single one.

Go here to "officially" register your dislike of the new dashboard  (per email received 05.09.2017).

So glad to see that fitbit listened to its customer base. Very disappointing in the new dash board being forced down our throats. Do not like it. Might be time for a Garmin anyway.

Is there no way to get the choice back for the old dashboard?  I hate the new one and wouldn't use it when there was the choice between the two. Very frustrating
