Hi Everyone, I figured out what's going on with my phone. I have a Samsung
Galaxy Note 5 and it's battery management software is killing the fitbit
app in the background. Depending on which phone you have, your phone's
battery management software might also be putting your fitbit app to sleep
in the background. In addition to doing what was suggested, such as
clearing the cache and the data of the fitbit app and restarting the phone,
you also need to look at your battery management software and make sure the
fitbit app is not part of the list of apps that gets put to sleep. For my
note 5, it means to go to Settings - > Device Maintenance - > Battery - >
Unmonitored apps - > and add the fitbit app to the Unmonitored apps so it
doesn't get put to sleep when you are not using it. Also restart your phone
too. Once restarted, don't forget to reselect all the app notifications you
want to go to your fitbit device.

Hope this helps.

Update: I tried what was suggested above about the battery saver. It worked!

I went into Battery under settings and found that it was suppressing the Fitbit app. I changed it and I am now receiving notifications.

@Riaavalos have you gone into the fitbit app and pick what notifications that you would like to receive?

When I first got it, it gave me the option to do that then it updated and
then it went away I don't have that option anymore. Do you know how I can
get it back?

Yes. I've done that, unsynced the fitbit from my phone, uninstalled the app and reinstalled it. I get all other notifications except text notifications

I came to this forum just to post the same solution. Good work man.

For my One Plus 5, the navigation is Settings >  Battery > Battery Optimization > Fitbit > Don't Optimize

After disabling the battery optimization for the Fitbit app, notifications resumed working without any problems.

Hope this helps anyone who is still facing the issue.

I tried disabling the battery optimisation for the app this morning and unfortunately it didn't solve the problem for me.

Hey! After disabling the battery optimization, have you tried restarting your device and enabling the notifications again in the fitbit notification settings. I had followed the same steps and it worked. It might be worth giving it a shot.

After trying every solution from this topic, this worked for me (android 8.0, honor 9 lite., latest fitbit app)

1. Disable chrome (don't use it anyways)

2. Update Andriod System WebView from Play store

3. Restart the phone

I even tried resetting my versa to factory settings and uninstalling app on my phone and starting all over. So far nothing is working

For my Android, Huawei Mate 9, I removed the battery saver options for the Fitbit app, logged off Fitbit, cleared the cache for Fitbit in the apps setting, then restarted and logged back into my Fitbit app. It significantly reduced the number of times I get the message to restart but didn't fix it.

How do you clear the cache for fitbit?

Go to the Android settings, navigate to apps, select Fitbit and you should see something related to storage. Once there you should see an option to clear cache and clear data. Clear the cache and leave the data as is.

Any ideas why disabling Chrome would do anything at all?
