Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ Compatibility

Just got the S8+ yesterday, but my Blaze no longer receives notifications from my device. I've reset the Blaze, removed it from my account, gone through setup, restarted the phone and Blaze, uninstalled the app, and every other troubleshooting recommendation on the forums. All permissions are granted. No luck. Everything else syncs. Is this just a compatibility issue?

It's pretty amazing that I just dropped a couple hundred bucks on a new fitbit blaze specifically for the ability to get notifications on my wrist only to find out that my phone is not compatible without any idea of an update timeframe.  This phone has been on the market for months and is considered cutting edge and in high demand so surely they know more and more customers will have this problem.  I totally agree that this post should NOT be marked as "Solved" because it's not. Really I just have a useless fancier version of my Charge HR that worked just fine.

Please update us on progress fitbit!

I second this, I have the Blaze/S8 combo. Check your settings, make sure your devices are up to date. I received my Blaze for Father's Day and I wasn't receiving notifications. After I got everything squared away with my devices, on the second day my Blaze was buzzing away with notifications! Hope you guys can get yours figured out

Any updates on when this will be compatible? It was working fine yesterday and then stopped all the sudden. I tried unpairing and pairing again and now I can't get even add the Alta whatsoever...

edit: I was able to pair it through my computer, but have NO luck on the phone still. it sucks being in step challenges without being able to pair at all times...

I have no idea about any other phones being added to any fitbit lists...
I'm an everyday consumer just like most of us here but will keep my eyes &
ears peeled for when the Galaxy S8+gets added to the list

Hello @Tallen8212 let me tell you it's nice to have a new faces around the Fitbit Community! At the moment the Galaxy 8+ is not listed as supported in our list of Compatible devices. I recommend to review the post of my friend @ErickFitbit for additional help.

Let me know if you have more questions. I'll be around.

I emailed Fitbit but didn't get any info on a timeline, however I do think something has changed as i am now getting notifications.  I am putting a history of my Blaze setup in case that helps:

Sun 2nd July - bought and setup Blaze with Samsung S8, not able to use GPS on fitbit when out for a walk, not able to get notifications, very hard to get phone to sync.  Uninstalled and reinstalled app several times with no change

Mon 3rd July - no change, noticed phone not able to sync sleep either

Tue 4th July - uninstalled and reinstalled app, phone now able to sync but still no notifications

Wed 5th July - noticed that sleep was now synced on phone.  Setup notifications on app (again), started getting notifications - app, email and text.  I also had a go at connecting to phone gps via exercise/walk and that looked to connect OK as well.

Besides unistalling and reinstalling I haven't done anything different, I definitely haven't had a phone update and have nothing on my phone to suggest the app has updated

Interestingly Mobile Track appeared as a device on my fitbit app today, which is something I looked for on Sat when I lost my Fitbit One (which worked fine with the S8) but it wasn't available so I do feel like there was maybe an update on Fitbit's end after I reinstalled that last time on Tuesday morning, but cant see if that is the case.

I find it frustrating that instead of making a suggestion that might work we are told to check out the list of supported devices.  All I needed to do was restart the Fitbit.  Instead all that is out here is negativity about it not being supported.   I checked out the list of devices and none of mine are on there.  How do you even sync with a computer?  Very frustrating.   Glad I figured it out on my own.

I don't have time to go through a lot of changes to make my fitbit work.  Nor should I have to change my current habits because fitbit has not keep pace with current technology (ie. Bluetooth 5.0).  I have had the Surge and now I use the Blaze. Fitbit has been at the top of the market of wearable devices if you wish to continue that status, you need to fix the compatibility with current technology. I saw post going back to April about this problem. It should be solved. If you can't fix it with the current devices then you need to hurry up and come out with ones that are compatible.  Then in order to maintain your customer base you should offer people such as myself a discount for the new the device for the inconvenience of all this, then communicate this to us so we know it is coming.  In case you did not realize those of us who buy new technology are your current and future customers.  If you cannot keep up I will find a device that can despite the fact that I would rather stay a Fitbit customer.

I would love a timeline for the Alta too. Love my S8, but don't know why
Fitbit won't give an honest answer.

They won't I'm afraid. They're completely dishonest. They advertise these
trackers as Android compatible when they have made absolutely no progress
on adding compatible devices this year (or longer), yet they keep saying
their engineers are working hard. I don't believe they have any engineers,
or if they do they must be playing ping pong all day!

It is a shame that Fitbit aren't providing any information on when their devices will be compatible with the S8 and isn't really what I expected from them as customer service has always been really good.

My blaze and S8 started working properly yesterday so there is hope but an explanation from FitBit on why some S8 phones can send notifications to the blaze and others can't could be really helpful for people's whose devices aren't working yet.

I don't know what everyone else issues with the Galaxy S8 are, but I bought my Blaze yesterday, and except for some initial issues paring, mine is working fine with the S8 as well as its connection through to MyFitnessPal, as well as notifications.

Don't come back here complaining when it stops working.

Until it's on the compatibility list the app hasn't been optimised for the S8. It may work, it may not and is not supported.

Have you tried holding down the button on the charge 2 for a couple seconds?  Once you do this it should pop up saying "notifications on" or "notifications off."  My charge 2 luckily had no trouble syncing to my S8 when I first got it, but then it just stopped working one day.  I finally was just messing around with the Charge2 and held the button down and it showed that the notifications on the tracker were turned off somehow.  Once I turned the notifications back on it started working again.  It's worth a try.

Hello- per the moderator response in June the tech gurus were still working and getting S8+ on the list of supported devices and that there would be some updated message in this thread re the status. From the latest comments posted today 07/07/17 there is still a problem getting notifications and I am still having trouble, yet when I click the link in this message to find out if the S8+ is on the list sure enough it's there and shows that supposedly notifications is a feature that works but this still does not appear to be the case. Very misleading😣 Looking forward to any follow up that a moderator can give clarifying the latest status. Thank you.

Maybe since version 2.52; don't make light of the fact the device hasn't been supported until just now.

The problems experienced were real.
