I agree 100% It is BS that this is taking so long to fix. I will be turning off automatic updates for fitbit after this.

Before I realized the problem was the 3.37 version of the app, I went through the whole troubleshooting routine with my Ionic, which ended with a hard reset that bricked it. Dead at 1-1/2 years. Terrible, the Ionic had been working fine, including sync, until then. I thought about leaving Fitbit, but, ironically, I really like the app; its UI is better than the competitors. There is the old maxim: software sells hardware. Anyways, I bought a Charge 4 as replacement, and it could not set up, because setup requires sync, and app v3.37 fails on sync. I was going to return it for a refund, but then I tried sideloading an older version of the Android app. This worked, the Charge 4 installed fine and sync was smooth and reliable. That was two days ago, and Fitbit (this thread) has officially communicated that there is a sync problem with v3.37. This morning I wake up to find that Fitbit has automatically updated my phone app to v3.37, and my Charge 4 has not synced since yesterday evening. Really?
You do realize that, with my fourth Fitbit since May 9, 2015, I am one of the customers the company should not lose. I feel like a co-dependent to an alcoholic...

How long it takes to rectify the error?
My Fitbit Versa 2 cannot sync. I tried to reset to factory setup, delete the apps and install again, still cannot detect the Bluetooth.
Very frustrating and disappointing. 😠

Bricked my original Versa too. I've had that since the Versa first came out. I've been with Fitbit from the beginning and this is the first time I am truly saddened by them. Didn't even know there was an issue until I had already bought a replacement for the one their issue bricked. Guess that's one way to get an extra few hundred out of me.

I'D LIKE TO ASK THE COMMUNITY (no, I'm not screaming, but I do want your attention): HOW MANY OF YOU HAVE RECEIVED A REPLY FROM AN ACTUAL FITBIT EMPLOYEE IN RESPONSE TO THIS MESS THAT SEEMS TO HAVE NO END?? ANYBODY RECEIVE AN APOLOGY FOR FITBIT'S LACK OF COMMUNICATION DIRECTLY TO THE USERS? ANYBODY RECEIVE AN UPDATE ABOUT WHAT FITBIT IS DOING AND WHEN WE MAY EXPECT RESOLUTION?
I thought so. Does Fitbit have a board of directors? We need to contact them.

@SWISS, if you resolve this issue via sideloading a previous version, you should also turn off automatic updates. Otherwise, it will just update to the latest version again. If you sideload it again, remember to turn off auto updates in the Google Play store. 🙂
So sorry to hear that Fitbit tech support bricked your device. They also tried to get me to factory reset mine, but I told them no. When they insisted, I just told them I did it, but I didn't really do it. It's risky, and it has no chance of resolving this issue. Tech support is completely incompetent.
If anyone is interested, here are my recommendations, here are some FAQs I wrote, and here are your options if you have followed Fitbit's instructions and factory reset your device (and it did not brick it). Please be very careful if you decide to sideload the app. I really recommend people try to use some of the workarounds instead. 🙂

Both my partner and I have fitbits. They haven't been syncing to our phones for a few days so we rebooted our watches. Trying to set up watch again but just let's us get as far as finding phone through Bluetooth but won't connect.
