Syncing issues after update

I want to see how many of us are in this community. They can't lie to us all about this in a single thread of people still having this same issue.

At this point it's ridiculous.

Come on fitbit! Fix this *mess*. This is a freaking mess! My versa will sync for a day or two.... Notifications will work initially then get more and more delayed. Significantly delayed. Then it won't sync "device not found" and I have jump through hoops. Fix this!!! It's unacceptable. You broke something. At least acknowledge it. You've acknowledged issues before and even posted notices on your site. This deserves the same

My Flex is unable to sync since the update. I've tried everything I've seen listed to fix the issue, and nothing helps. I then deleted the Flex from my phone, and then it wouldn't even see it to let me re-add it. My phone is an Galaxy S7. My girlfriend has the same fitbit, same phone, same problem.

For whatever reason, I can sync both of our fitbits using my Windows 10 laptop.

I was also able to download an older version of the app on my very old Galaxy Tab 4, from the Play Store. It syncs just fine.

Being able to sync on a Windows 10 laptop, and on an older Android device which incidentally, isn't even supported because its Android version < 5.0, with an old version of the app, proves in my book that the updated app is at fault.

I'm in the process of trying to get the older version off of my tablet and onto my phone.

Having issues over here too!!  I got an Alta HR for my son for his birthday, and that was my first preview of the new "improved" update.  It seemed to take forever for the app to find and sync his data, but I thought it was an issue with an older phone (what he is using for the app).  He even said to me that he wished he could make his app look like mine!  So apparently a 13 year old can tell how much worse the new update is.

NOW they have forced the upgrade to my device, and it takes FOREVER for it to sync and won't stay synced! Though, if what I'm reading is correct it seems like I'm lucky mine will sync at all.

This is so completely frustrating!  It feels like the last several months there have been nothing bu issues with the app and the web dashboard.  I've had a fitbit for years now, and I'm ready to walk away and get a Garmin.

I just purchased a Garmin Vivosmart 4 which will arrive today.  Given all the syncing issues and lack of concern on the part of Fitbit, I will officially cut the cord (Bluetooth?) with the company once my Garmin arrives.  So sad that Fitbit seems to want to make our devices obsolete after years of dedicated use.

My husband jumped ship and went to Garmin a year and a half ago and loves it.  I'm torn right now though because we JUST bought my son his Alta, and I had purchased another one for my other son so they could both have on (his birthday is in a couple weeks).  Now I want to return both and move over, but I don't know if I can.

This is incredibly frustrating.  I wish you luck with your Garmin, I will likely be joining that community in the near future as well.

I'm having the same issue with my Flex. Won't sync unless I reset it, EVERY DAY. I thought it was just me, but yes, this didn't happen until the app was upgraded.

I cannot even setup my Charge 2 or my Flex on my LG K30 phone after
deleting both in a fix effort. The Fibit App. (Old version) won't even
see/find those devices using Bluetooth ! I can't download the new version
App (thank goodness cuz apparently it is complete cramp & has even more
problems. The download fails, saying I'm not connected to the internet
(which I am and can download/install other Apps. Just fine)
What is wrong with FitBits programmers & tech. Dept. ??

Are they planning to stop the zip?  I've had this one for 5 years and really want to keep it. I don't want a new device!

Best Answer

Hi @HuiTriesToBeFit  the Zip was retired. A friend of mine has a Zip and loves it, too. I never had a Zip, but the new Inspire has an optional clip to wear it like the Zip. If I had to use a clip, I'd go with that.

@HuiTriesToBeFit, I think that they don't make the zip anymore. Given all the current problems with the discontinued models there is a consensus of opinion that fitbit are actively trying to kill them off.

I've been having nothing but issues with it syncing. At this point I am ready to drop Fitbit all together and go with another brand because in less than a year this almost 200$ fitness watch I paid for is now useless for anything including telling time.

I am having the same problem with my Charge 3 not syncing properly ever since the new update. All these people are having the same problem. Why isn't Fitbit doing something about this. We pay good money for these things, should work right. Very frustrated.

Best Answer
I believe we are not seeing FitBit fix these problems because they have no
in-house programmers or technical people who have any clue about firmware
or software. I suspect all that work is farmed out to (possibly several
different) 3rd party programming/development houses. FitBit did not write
any of the code themselves, so have no idea what is wrong or how to fix it.
Their 3rd party software developers are either denying it is there problem
or finger pointing at each other ... Or they want more money to fix it than
FitBit is willing to pay.
Very, very sad! Such technology all revolves around the almighty dollar
and because such companies never see or deal with their customers
face-to-face, they don't feel the pain and find it easy to just walk away
once they have the sales dollars. The pathetic world we live in has no
ethics, empathy or morals. I vote we go back to the 60s !

I agree entirely with you!  I have been told that my Samsung A5 is not compatible with the new updated version 3 3 1. The crazy thing is the list of compatible phones are much older than my phone!!!! Mine is 2 years old!   So I need to buy a second hand older phone whilst taking a chance that the new update will work on it??? I think not !   I am so disappointed as using my tracker in sync with my phone this past few years gave me great motivation and now nothing!  I dont even know what the best option is for me to do..Im waiting patiently each day and reading the comments in the hope someone can give us some answers but I am losing confidence in Fitbit customer care as I dont think they do care!

I decided to dump my Fitbit and bought a Garmin Vivosmart 4.  Best of luck waiting for Fitbit to fix their app.  I decided to move on after over 5 years of loyalty to the Fitbit brand.

My phone downloaded a new update today. Version 3.5. Everything is working again. Thank you fitbit.

I just did the new update (9/4/19) and at first I was still having the issue. I gave it a few minutes and it worked! It finally synced! I just hope it stays fixed.

Best Answer

Oh great I will have to see if I got the message to download this update. Thanks so much for getting back with me.

Ik heb net via de Playstore een update binnengehaald. Mijn Fitbit one wordt nu weer herkend door mijn telefoon!
