Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

In order to ensure an optimal experience, please take a moment to update your Fitbit app to the latest version by September 30th for those using Fitbit app versions 3.00 to 3.90 and 4.00 to 4.21. If you wait beyond that date to update, the Fitbit App could experience performance issues.

Visit the Google Play Store to update the Fitbit app.

To determine your app version:

For Fitbit App 3.00 - 3.90
Google Account: Today > Account Menu (Top Right Icon) > Help > Version
Fitbit Account: Today > Account Menu (Top Left Icon) > Help & Support > Version

I upgraded to the latest version and now the app is completely useless.  It shows steps in the dashboard, but if I open the Steps tab, it shows zero steps.  It shows no active minutes, but in the tab I see the bars where minutes were acquired.  I can see how many minutes each bar is, but the total is still zero.  Moreover, I don't think anything gets reported to the cloud: a third party app that has been receiving my steps data has not received anything since the upgrade happened.  Someone help me!

After the update I can no longer see individual exercises in the app. My Versa is showing 4 days of exercise and the app only shows one. I followed every suggestion for restarting the app and my phone in several combinations. The exercise for all dates prior to the update is now missing from the app.

This is very frustrating for me as a runner and swimmer since using the app is the only way for me to track my lap split times unless I manually divide the total minutes by number of laps, which defeats the purpose of using the app. This applies to both running for miles and swimming for individual and 100 m lap times. I specifically chose a fitbit and have used one for over 10 years for these functions. How can it show that I have 119 activity minutes today but not show an exercise?

I feel incredibly frustrated and am thinking of getting a different fitness tracker or literally bringing a pencil and notebook and an oven timer like I did in 1997.

Mine is the same. I can't see my steps or distance which I need. Nothing matches my Fitbit versa I bought about a month ago. It looks like the backend might be working. I have connected my Fitbit to a virtual challenge app called conquerer and I can see both things there. It is so frustrating though as it is happening on my mother's too.

It is a horrible update  have had nothing but problems with it since I updated.  Biggest issue is when I open the app to see how far my is so far when I go to close the app it pauses the workout unbeknownst to me

also this week dropped two of my outdoor walks

have been a loyal Fitbit user for close to ten years and am thinking about switching if these things are not fixed! Very disappointed

PLEASE STOP CHANGING THINGS!!

I am on v 4.25.1, it updated itself.

Since yesterday it will not track my activity. When I work out I always set my device to 'workout' to make sure it records. I noticed yesterday that the app did not record any activity at all, so I manually entered it. But it's disappeared and now states I have did no exercise yesterday.

This morning I have worked out for 45 minutes, my device again was set to 'workout', the app shows a 'walk' of 17 minutes! Please advise ASAP how to fix this. So fed up with these updates.

It feels as though I'm on some kind of weird beta test with Fitbit, but one without the usual helpful collaborations between user beta testers and developers!

I can't believe how a completely shoddy application has been forced upon us with obvious bugs and issues and a lack of any useful interaction from Fitbit beyond "have you tried uninstalling the app, restarting your phone, and then installing the app again".  Have you seen how many of the responses to Google Play reviews of the Fitbit app just literally say that?  One review was complaining about the design of the app and Fitbit "support" responded saying to try to uninstall and re-install the app, as if that would solve things!  I wonder whether Google Gemini has escaped and is now running their support department......

I work in IT, and if this was my product, I'd be livid.  Google Reviews are terrible, users (customers!) are obviously very unhappy and things keep breaking; the latest I've observed being the Exercise Days not working.  It was working, then it wasn't, now it isn't again.

If Google want us to use this as a health device they need to up their game.  I've simply lost trust in the application, with me certainly they have damaged any potential future reputation as a company looking after your health.

I've just had another painful 'chat' with their Support, they just say they are 'working on' the issues. They refused to give me a timescale, saying that would be 'unethical' ?!!! So strange.

We said on these forums last year that it seemed they are determined to make the app worse and worse until everyone gives up. I am just about at that stage now. What is the point of a fitness tracker that doesn't track your fitness? I asked this question to Support and they just said 'we truly apologise for the inconvenience' 😬

I totally agree and was thinking the same things yesterday.

Seems another patch/update was released 09/11/2024. Still didn't fix the issue.

Still no tracking of exercises manual or otherwise.

Is this now limited to new wearables devices?

WTFC?

Yes. Agree. The latest app design is hideous. The all white "color" scheme and thin font make at a glance reads difficult (unlike rel. 3.81 which was great and I desperately want to roll back to!). The data aren't accurate - my Fitbit Inspire 3 will read (for example) 3,785 Steps and the (#*&@#%) latest app at the same moment reads 3,950!

My Aria (Fitbit) scale shows my weight on its display, that same weight is captured in the the weight Log in the Fitbit app, but the Dashboard, most of the time, adds 0.1 to that weight.

The wonderful prior app rel, (noted above) recorded all my significant exercises sequentially and retained them in my daily Dashboard. This awful new app design eliminates the prior exercises with each subsequent daily exercise conducted, so I can't see & don't know if all my exercises are being retained & counted and I can't glance in the Dashboard anymore to see what I've completed.

Sleep tracking is unreliable and gets posted as two separate sleep cycles if I wake up for a short period (aka, a few minutes) vs recording as 1 sleep cycle with awake moments (the prior app never did that - thankfully!).

There is no longer a great way to long press & rearrange data tiles, like in the prior app. The arrangement of what I'm supposed to like is dictated to me (beyond the topline custom icons). I hate that.

I can no longer use my Win 11 desktop Dashboard which I referred to several times/week before it disappeared.

I've been a Fitbit user for over 12 years. It feels as though it has gone significantly downhill and is becoming increasingly less useful and more user unfriendly in the past 4-5+ years. Yet we keep getting barraged with "Move to Premium" appeals when the fundamentals are failing, the app is becoming less flexible, the data are consistently inaccurate, app aesthetics are unreadable and the "Premium" content is overwhelming & obtuse.

Unethical??!!! What the heck does that mean in that context? The word they were grappling for should have been 'incompetent' - which is what the Fitbit experience is now.

If their plan is to get all of us Fitbit users disgusted so we'll migrate to their Pixel. I will not be one who does so based on how Google engineering has tanked what used to be best in class fitness and health tracking with the original Fitbit devices, computer Dashboard and apps. I see nothing that justfies or motivates that type of device/app loyalty anymore. The original value promise of Fitbit (pre acquisition) has been tarnished.

I have called Fitbit twice about this issue. The problem started for me on September 4th, 2024, and the app is still broken.

I called support this morning (Sunday, September 15, 2024). The representative told me that there are no guarantees that the app will automatically upload past activities.

I'm so disappointed with Google that they have not prioritized repairing this problem. What's the point of wearing a fitness watch if you can't record your fitness activities?

If you want people to update regularly, maybe stop putting out completely broken updates?

I've been toying with leaving Fitbit, but I love the Charge's profile, and I am waiting for the Charge 7, fingers crossed.

However, I might start shopping for another device if they can't fix the app. It's sad because I've worn a Fitbit since 2015.

I said the same thing. Why would anyone buy any of their devices based on what's happening? I'm so disappointed with Google.

I need to stay on version 3 because it's slighly less crap than version 4 which is offensively bad.

What is the matter with you **ahem**s that you make such rubbish?

Best Answer

How did you get the older release? Where did you find it and how were you able to re-install it to replace the crappy rel. 4.x.x series app?

I want to roll back from the currently awful, inaccurate rel. series 4.x.x to rel. 3.81 Fitbit Mobile vers. 38123001! It was accurate, maintained all my workouts throughout the day, wasn't an unreadable all white with thin sans serif font terrible design, it compiled all my overnight sleep tracking together as one event vs splitting it into multiple sleep events, it tracked the number of my steps accurately, etc.

The series 4.x.x app updates immediately broke the accuracy of my Fitbit mobile apps (Android on Samsung devices). Whenever my Inspire 3 syncs to the app (this began immediately with the 4.x.x series update) it adds steps on the Dashboard that are not captured/recorded on the Inspire 3 tracker. This never ever happened before the update. I will try to upload a pic of my Inspire 3 sitting on top of my Fitbit app (most curr. rel. from Google Play) after having performed a sync then not walked. See the discrepancy between the Steps showing on the tracker and the Steps amt showing on the Dashboard (below - 5489 = Tracker,   5516 = Fitbit rel. 4.x.x Dashboard). This did not happen while I was using rel. 3.81.

I want to roll back to that 38134001 app version. Google ppl, how do I do that and not lose my historical data and not have to reset all my Fitbit settings that I set up 14 yrs. ago when I 1st started using the wonderful Fitbit One???

Inspire 3 steps vs Dashboard stepsInspire 3 steps vs Dashboard steps

If either (Google) Fitbit devices themselves don't capture data accurately or associated apps don't sync data accurately from the mobile devices throughout the day/night, then Fitbit is worthless as a Health and Fitness system! I need a way to roll back to the version # I've noted above (that worked just fine) without losing my 14 yrs worth of Fitbit history data. If the app is not rolled back and made to work like it did in that release (by end of Sept. 2024) I will have to discontinue wearing and using Fitbit devices/tracking b/c (as mentioned) bad data is no data. It is worthless. It would be heartbreaking to stop using Fitbit that I loved pre-acquisition by Google. But I won't wear devices that either don't work or can't sync completely and accurately to a summarizing source that is meaningful to me, my health and my fitness. I will not migrate to a Pixel device either based on how Google engineering/prod. mktg has handled design and customer experience (in the "old days" we'd call it 'user friendliness').

Have a look at fitbit en (up to down) com / android / versions

add the dots as this may be censored, parenthesis removed and one word inside

numerous versions but avoid the ones with x in front of the file extensions.

delete the current version and open the old one in your phone or look up my user name on telegram, will help as this is beyond strusfrating.
