Yes. And in addition to the tracked elements you mention that can no longer be corrected/edited by users when the tracker/app gets the data wrong, another critical tracked element that can no longer be fixed manually by users is Sleep!

It used to be (when Fitbit ran Fitbit) that we could delete and then re-enter corrected Go to Sleep & Wakeup times so if the app screwed up and said we got 3 hrs sleep and we really got over 7 hrs sleep we could fix it. No more.

Updating my app rendered my Fitbit with the app pretty useless.  Sync issues, crazy battery app problem; 100% to 11 to 64 to … you get the picture.  Without the app the phone appears to be just fine.  The problems start after syncing then using the app and the phone getting into a never ending sync loop until the battery appears to drop but not really.

If google really wants to hold onto Fitbit users this is probably not the way to do it.  The more I read the more I see users deciding to go with Apple.

Please help your loyal customers with this problem.

@bart8069I am at my peak frustration point.😤 I have said in this thread that I don't want to change brands because of the Charge's profile. But...

Sort of Workaround: I thought I found a workaround for the app not recording my activities. I choose one activity daily and use the app, not my Fitbit, to record that I did something for a sustained time. Well, that blew up in my face yesterday. After bouncing on my rebounder for 45 minutes, the app erased 2500 steps from my device. It then got stuck in a loop and kept deleting steps and miles. I took screenshots but don't have anywhere to submit them.

Frankly, I'm starting to think Google just doesn't care.☹

Not sure what is happening, my exercise days and activities are syncing.

But, if I pull down on the tab in the app to get it manually sync I still get the error telling me it can't sync with my watch.

So it looks like it can't sync directly from the watch, but in the background it is...

@Fotomaker01 Did your app update to 4.27? Mine did. It still won't record any activities tracked on my Fitbit. I tested it yesterday while doing an 1:50:00 min walk. The steps were recorded but not the activity. 😭 However the app automatically recorded a shorter walk earlier. WHY CAN'T GOOGLE FIX THE APP???😤

The real question is why did they break it then not apply a fix to the original issue to fix it.

Hello,

I just looked my Pixel and it said Fitbit was updated on my phone Oct 10th.
I am furious and outdone. I am not sure what bug fixes and better
functionality was added, for me this is a fail. I want a reply on the
things I use why are they not working. And I do not need to spend 10
dollars for peloton workouts.

@Emma_T  I'm having exactly the same issues.

My app has now updated to 4.28 which was supposed to fix all these issues. Have you updated to that yet?

Yesterday (on 4.28) I did a 70 min aerobic workout. I set my watch (Charge 2) to 'workout'. The app totally ignored it, insisting I'd done 'zero' exercise for the day. I gained 9000 steps and my heart rate was elevated for that time, so HOW is the app not recognising this as activity, what does it think I am doing?!!

I entered it manually, and saved it. In 4.27 this didn't work, the activity would disappear again. But this time it did allow me to enter it and save it, and it is still there today. So maybe we can do that now but it's really not good enough for something that was working perfectly well before. I'm not convinced that the manually added activity won't disappear sometime today, we will see.

I just found this thread. The updates must be why my fitbit suddenly would not sync, along with me not being able to pair my old luxe and a new luxe to my phone. I now have one luxe that will not pair but at least tracks steps, etc. as well as a brand new one that is stuck on the "download the app" message. Well done, Google.

I upgraded to version 4.28 and now the app won't sync my Versa 2. I ran through all the steps and even did a factory reset to no avail. I called support and they said this is affecting many android users. Hopefully, a new update will be issued soon to correct these issues.

I'm sure a new update will be rolled out [not] soon that just adds more issues and fixes nothing.

I managed to get the new luxe paired to my Acer chromebook (I can download android apps on it). My chromebook knows it is paired, but the luxe app does not. However, my steps are showing up correctly and the luxe now works, so I guess it is sort of a win. I am waiting to see if they fix the app before I try to pair to my phone again.

Updated to 4.28

The Exercise Days tab is visible with data in it.

The app is also syncing correctly now.

@Palexr You're fortunate. I'm still experiencing problems with activities not being recognized. I called FitBit and reported the issue with the new version. The representative confirmed that he could see my issue on his side and issued a ticket number.

@Linz16 Yes, I'm on version 4.28, and nothing's changed. However, I appreciate your tip about manually adding exercises. I will try that instead of using the app to record walks. I lost a few thousand steps today using that workaround.

My wife started having problems syncing her FitBit Inspire 3 to her Android 12 phone a bit over a week ago. I tried all the following things but it would not work:

  • Stopped and started bluetooth
  • Rebooted the phone
  • Reinstalled the fitbit app
  • Restarted the fitbit

I called fitbit technical support and they directed me to this thread and said that some Android users are having sync/pairing issues with their fitbits.

Now the fitbit app version is up to 28.2 on her phone but the problem still persists. I previously deleted the pairing between her phone and the fitbit. Now when trying to do the pairing, the app says it found the inspire 3, but then a few seconds later it shows a screen with "Not working?

Note that I was able to pair her Inspire 3 with my son's Android 14 phone. After doing that, we uninstalled the fitbit app on his phone and removed the bluetooth pairing.

So when will there be an upgrade that will fix the syncing/paring issues? I did a search for fitbit 4.29 and found:

The Fitbit app version 4.29, which is scheduled for release on October 28, 2024, will include bug fixes and performance improvements. I wonder if this version will fix the problem and when it will be rolled out to her phone.

Thank you,

Peter

Hi Peter,  All the sync'ing (and other issues - no longer an ability to correct/modify wrongly captured Sleep data, for a while no ability to display multiple exercises during a single day, etc., etc.) issues began this past Summer (Aug. 2024 timeframe) when the Google Fitbit development team moved from the 3.8.2 release Android Fitbit app to the 4.x.x series of the app. The app has been plagued with bugs ever since that change. There have been multiple "fix" releases they've issued that didn't fix anything (and, in some cases, made things worse for many users). Theoretically, there is a new release (as of Oct. 30) on the Google Play Store. But I suggest you check out the user reviews and star ratings there. Be forewarned, it will get boring to see the same thing over and over - they are all 1 Star (ie, worst possible) ratings. Users have requested for months that Google just re-release the 3.8.2 app (even suggesting that if they want to save face and not look like they're going backwards they just rename it the next number in the release sequence). If it's any consolation, you & your wife are not alone...

The issues actually began September 2023 for most of us. That's over a year of constantly trying  to make the app do what it had done effortlessly for the last 12 years. Constantly messaging Support to be told over and over that the next release will fix everything.

No user testing is done. If they took our suggestions on board they'd have a world class product now full if 5 star reviews.

I've downloaded 4.29 and nothing is different  just like the last 8 updates. I'm so bemused as to why they are doing this?!

@rohr22 I've stopped checking versions, so thank you for the heads up. I'll test to see if activities are tracked correctly. My fingers are crossed, but I'm losing hope.

I got version 3.88 from January 2024 and works perfectly on Android.

It's the last version that supports force dark mode, I will not update until a native dark mode feature exists.

If other smart watches had 7 day battery , fitbit wouldn't be around. Management should read how unhappy everyone is with the new changes

The 3.8.x Android series app worked! Agreed.
