Aria 2 won’t register guest weight

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Yesterday, my scales didn’t recognize me and said guest during the weigh in. In went into the app - recent weigh ins, and changed it to me. Today, the scales didn’t recognize me again. I went into recent weigh ins, but this time, there was no guest weight registered. So, I tried three more times and got nothing.

I then came to the Community to search for help. So far, I’ve tried removing the batteries and stepping on the scales 5 times (6 times, just in case) to recalibrate. Nothing. Tried that again. Nothing.

I’ve removed the scales from my app and readded them (twice); logged out of the app and back in (6 times); done a hard reset of my device (3 times), and then tried adding the scales again (twice). Tried removing the batteries again, and then stepping on 5 times again. I then got on to my Fitbit account via the web browser, hit the settings cog, gone into my Aria 2 to look for recent weigh ins and possibly change it to me there. However, I can’t find any data about weigh ins on the website.

It’s been 2.5 hours now, and I’m ready to throw the scales out the window.

Can anyone advise, please?

Hi everyone.

We appreciate the time taken in sharing your feedback, and the additional information. As it was mentioned before, this issue has been reported to our team so they can work on a solution.

Currently we don't have more updates to share; however, we're keeping our team informed of this situation and once we have information from them, we'll make sure to let you know.

As a side note, while every comment is always welcome, please keep in mind the Community Guidelines when posting.

Thank you Juan Carlos for the update.

@LizzyFitbitcan you give us an overview of the process from your end?

Someone submits an issue on this page, none of the quick fixes solve the problem. What happens next? You submit a summary of the problem to an internal page….

Do you have any interaction with the developers? Do you get status updates from them? Are you able to see any internal progress logs?

Everything about this process is a black box to us can you please shed some light on the process?

How dare you ask such reasonable intelligent questions!?!? You have been told many times you will get an update when they have one. While we wait, maybe we can all meet somewhere in the desert and stack all our scales up and set a Guinness World Record for the tallest stack of garbage ever made!

Kidding aside, great post!!

my aria 2 is not registering recent weigh ins as well as only shows guest weigh in on scale itself. I've removed and reconnected it several times. Uninstalled fit bit app and reinstalled. Took batteries out and reinstalled. This thing has never worked right. Help me please.

Mine started working

This happens to me as well.
Scale says it syncs. App says scale has just synced. Recent Weigh-in list is blank.

But have guest weights reappeared? If not, it's still not working properly

I tried it this morning, guest weights are still not appearing.

This is an example of how not to do customer support, I suspect this has been broken since the integration with Google and their authentication. The support people and the moderators on here probably have no power to do anything, I would hope that they could escalate to the head of customer services about the growing frustration with Fitbit (#Fitfail) and their inability to get their product teams to fix anything. Question for @JuanFitbit and @LizzyFitbit is, how do we escalate this or can you tell us truthfully if we can escalate from here?

I'd also like to know who is Head of Customer Services and Head of Product Development as it seems no-one wants to own this.

@LizzyFitbit

I can't speak for everyone here and share their stories but I can share mine, and why this issue matters to me.

I am 43 and have been struggling with my weight for a number of years now. Through active monitoring and better food choices I lost over 40 lbs. But then I hit a plateau, and my weight loss stopped for a year and then began to slowly creep back up. When life got hard combined with my frustration over my lack of progress, I broke, and I stopped caring about my diet and what the scale said. Now I am back to where I started, with an extra five pounds to show for it. I am trying to get back on the wagon, to retrace my steps and improve my health for me and my family. This scale helps me make this journey. It helps to hold me accountable and track my progress. I am ready to move forward, but this essential tool is unavailable. I have been a loyal Fitbit user for years now and I want to keep working with the company which is why I have been so patient and tolerant with the lack of information. I don't want to break up with Fitbit, but if comes between my health and loyalty to a particular company, my health is going to win every time.

I don't know why you took the job of forum moderator. Maybe you have an interest in fitness. Maybe the pay and benefits were good. But I'm hoping that at some point in the many years you have been with Fitbit you have found some satisfaction in helping people. Helping them to solve their problems, helping them to utilize these tools to improve their lives. Right now this community is asking you to help us. Help us understand what is going on.

@MAMUS Yes, I switched my account over to Google, and I'm still having this issue. The scale thinks I'm a guest and I can't re-assign guest weights.

@JCS3 Good for you for taking back control of your body.  Please don't let Fitbit get between you and your health.  Move on without them.  Record your own body weight from the scale into a spreadsheet, or into LoseIt app, which I have been using for years as a food journal.  I tracks exercise, sleep, weight, body fat%, and alll the macroingredients for your food.  It has a vast database of foods and you can create  your own recipes if you like.  I have used it for many years and have lost 130 pounds and maintained that loss for 3 years now.  Give it a try and STAY STRONG!!

Putting myself up on the list of disappointed users. This has taken way too long.

Add me to the list of furious people as well! How did a company like google manage to mess this up and taking 3 months to fix it? My partner updated his account to google when prompted and it removed him from the scale and made it so that guest weigh ins aren’t appearing for either of us. I’ve reinvited him to the scale but his weigh ins are still showing up as guest on the scale, without giving him the option to “claim” the weigh in as him, and I can’t see guest weights in the app to assign it to him either. Now he’s having to manually log his weights. You’ve effectively turned our smart scale into a dumb scale. The only reason we use any Fitbit stuff is because of this scale, so if it doesn’t work, what’s the point? We might as well get a new scale and quityour infrastructure entirely and you’ll get no more data from us. I’ll also be chasing a refund for the trouble if this isn’t fixed. Shocking.

@ErikSwan: Sorry for the late reply. I did not see your question.
I own an original Aria 1.

Perhaps I was just lucky getting the workaround to work.
If it makes any difference i did delete all registered weigh-ins from the past week - and then entered 5 manual ones through the iOS app.

Best regards
Martin

I'm confused, I'm pretty sure the original post had more updates than it has now.

Best Answer

Yeah there were five updates at one point, and now there are none.

I have done everything you mentioned literally a dozen times… I have injected manual entries for a week… I have help water jugs in my hands and poured out one ounce each time and weighed myself 50 times…

GUEST WEIGHTS ARE GONE

THIS SCALE IS JUNK

I wish Fitbit would have the backbone to just tell me to throw it away, I would at least respect the honesty.

I've got this same problem (missing Guest weights), but entering weights manually did get it assigning weights to the right people again instead of assigning to Guest. For now, anyway.

I had problems getting it assigning correctly a few years ago, and I think the step that fixed it back then was making sure I had entered a height for each user (we have four). I don't think it can calculate body fat without a height, and it seems to use the BF measurement to assign weights.

If anyone tries this and it works, I'd appreciate hearing about it. I still don't know for sure if that's what fixed it that time or if it was a coincidence.

Best Answer

Yeah but how do you work out your body fat as it doesn't tell you on the scale, it only gives you the weight
