Aria 2 won’t register guest weight

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Yesterday, my scales didn’t recognize me and said guest during the weigh in. In went into the app - recent weigh ins, and changed it to me. Today, the scales didn’t recognize me again. I went into recent weigh ins, but this time, there was no guest weight registered. So, I tried three more times and got nothing.

I then came to the Community to search for help. So far, I’ve tried removing the batteries and stepping on the scales 5 times (6 times, just in case) to recalibrate. Nothing. Tried that again. Nothing.

I’ve removed the scales from my app and readded them (twice); logged out of the app and back in (6 times); done a hard reset of my device (3 times), and then tried adding the scales again (twice). Tried removing the batteries again, and then stepping on 5 times again. I then got on to my Fitbit account via the web browser, hit the settings cog, gone into my Aria 2 to look for recent weigh ins and possibly change it to me there. However, I can’t find any data about weigh ins on the website.

It’s been 2.5 hours now, and I’m ready to throw the scales out the window.

Can anyone advise, please?

I have the exact same problem. Manually entering the weights did NOT fix the issue.

When will this be fixed, Fitbit? This is a $200 scale that can't do basic core functions right now.

I've officially given up. I decided to order a competitors scale. They just released a new line up.. Figured I'd give it a shot.

Next to go is my Fitbit sense.. I don't like where this eco system is heading now.. And the lack of attention/support on this issue speaks volumes.

After seven years, 2 scales and 6 trackers I am also dissapointed in Fitbit's support. My wife wants a new tracker  but said that Fitbit is no longer an option due to poor support. I don't longer trust Fitbit and dthe censorship on this forum is just rude.

Try stepping on the scale with a towel between your feet and the scale, that is the fix.

I'm also moving away from Fitbit after this. Just bought a Samung Smartwatch and sold my Fitbit tracker. next up is the scale.

A towel is maybe beter then putting my socks on after waking up and  standing on the scale 😉 Nevertheless this fixes my weight being added to my  profile it still doesn't fix the unassigned issue. Good luck with your new purchase!

But if you use a towel or socks, that prevents it from measuring body fat,
doesn't it?

Yes, it's one of the thing one might attempt in order to get the scale to re-recognize a user...

I know it was one of the things I tried. I put it in the category of the step-on-off-5-times reset.

To be clear, my scale is at a point where it finally recognizes me again. But it does not register guest weigh-ins.

Same here. Last time I entered my weight manually, it started recognizing
me. Didn't work the time before, so who knows. Still won't show guest
weights or other users weights, though.

Mine has been hit and miss but seems to work for now. But when it doesn’t work, it doesn’t record guest weights. Frustrating. It worked great for about two years and now this!

I went 5 weeks abroad, comming back and it didn't recognize me as I lost about 4-5 kilos.

I tried to update the app, unninstall, logout, clear cache even took the risk to installed an older version.
I tried to reset the scale, unpair, pair again, no guest data can be found.

On the app, I have a full white screen when I want to see the weigh ins. On Chrome I can't see any tab "mesurement" as described on some "manual".

Every post that really seemed to correspond to my issue is written as closed and best answer is that they will look for a solution... this is just a joke.
How to assign the weight to a profile if you can't see it ???

A few month ago it was working, the scale probably had an update and now it's not syncing correctly, why should I keep using it if I have to enter manually the data and don't even see the fat % on the scale while weighting myself.

Hi, on my aria 2 there are 2 users, myself and guest. Since Monday of this week, 16.10.2023, my aria 2 only registers guest weigh ins and not my own.  Somehow, when data was ported from my fitbit account to the google account, the fact that the default guest account on the old fitbit environment was lost. Now my aria2 only sees the  weighins as though they are being done by the guest. The aria2 thinks that I am the guest. On the fitbit app, the guest user weighins and the actual guest user has disappeared.

Usually, I could manually transfer guest weigh ins to myself manually, hiwever, since the guest user no longer shows up as a user, this manual correction is no longer possible.

This is frustrating.

How can I get the aria2 scale recognize me as myself and not as the guest account?

Why has the previous guest account also not been  transferred when my data was migrated from fitbit to google storage.

There is some confusion between the aria2 and the fitbit app.

1. The scale somehow thinks i am the guest.

2. The fitbit app is missing the previously existing guest account.

3. Because the guest account no longer appears in the  fitbit  app, manual correct is not possible.

Either google or fitbit forgot to take into account the (default)guest account when they migrated user data from fitbit to google, yet the guest user still exists on the aria 2. As another user indicated, the scale sends the guest data to the fitbit app (Rest api shows this) however, because the guest account no longer exists or exists but is no longer being displayed, guest weighin are not seen on the app and the manual correction from guest to myself is no longer possible.

If I were you, I would verify

1. If during migrating or porting data from fitbit to google that guest users on the scale were also registered and saved on the fitbit app. What may have happened is that there were no guest entries on the aria so no guest account was created under the (false) assumption that no guest account existed, although present on the aria.

2. That guest data sent from the aria2 or other aria models sent by the scale during synching is indeed received.

3. Consider testing migrating account data where an aria2 scale has two users, a real one and a  unused guest user. Verify that all users on the aria2 were also registered in the backend  and that your front end (web display) shows or reflects the same number of users present in the aria2.

All of this is just speculation about what might be happening and my imagination has been shown to be way off at times. However, if you identify the use cases which could lead so many users to having this same or similar behaviour, it seems that a fundamental use case was forgotten or because of time constraints never tested or never implemented or both.

Hope you can fix this ' booboo' soon.

Good luck.

Claude

Bottomline: although not being able to view guest weigh-ins is really annoying, Fitbit and Google are in breach of all data protection regulations!

They are recording your highly sensitive personal data, but not allowing you access to it. The fact that Fitbit has decided to assign your weigh-ins to a guest account is not your problem - it's Fitbit's. It's still a record of your weight and Fitbit/Google isn't allowing you access to it.

If you request a download of all of your personal data, if it doesn't include the guest weigh-ins (which are actually yours), Fitbit/Google is failing to comply with a number of GDPR's 8 core principles: the Right of Access, the Right to Data Portability, Right to Rectification and the Right to Erasure.

So essentially, Fitbit/Google are currently breaking the law in respect to data protection.

Just checking in and I got offered a survey about my satisfaction with the "Fitbit Community" site.

I hope that you all have an opportunity to reply to the same survey.  Please take advantage of it!

I agree with what you are saying.   However, I didn't switch to a Google account and all of that is happening to me.   I actually have 2 users - myself and my husband, in addition to a guest.    I can now see my weigh ins since I added one manually, but I can't see guest (even way back) or my husband's.   So I'm not sure it has anything to do with Google.

Hi,

Between Fitbit and Google a problem exists. 😁

One or the other or both may have their hands in the cookie jar of bugs...

Cheers.
