Hi, ive also messaged customer support about this but wondered if anyone having or had same problem? My aria keeps giving me different weights in lbs and bf when I get on and off. The weight can vary up to 3 or 4lbs going up then back down. Its driving me crazy as I'm cutting and obviously need to know I'm getting a reliable reading incase I need to change my food. I don't move them, just literally get off and back on again

I have the same issue, just got it today and everytime it give a different scale. but the varation is very big. I'm 85KG and sometimes it shows I am 44, 58, 62, 82. i don't know what is happening.

I"m finding the scale shows a different weight when not connecting to my FitBit and when it does. The weights do vary by about 5 pounds which is very confusing. I also can't change my wi-fi network. Maybe it's the scale?

Thanks for joining the Forums @PL77 @Sazrahr @HSELIM! If your scale is giving you different weight readings when you use it, I recommend you recalibrate it by stepping on it for 5 consecutive times and on the 6 try you should be able to see accurate data. Also, reset the scale by removing its batteries for at least 15 seconds and then reinsert them.

As a friendly reminder, try not to move the scale since this device is very sensitive and moving it can cause this discrepancy.

Any other questions, let me know. Robot wink

I was having the same problem, and it's a calibration issue.  However, "issue" really isn't the right word. It's just that if you move your Aria between weigh-ins, and/or if you store it up against a wall while not in use (as I do), the calibrations get off. The first time you step on it, the number you see will NOT be accurate--it will just be the calibration numbers and figuring out who you are.  Step off, let it finish, then step back on again. This time the weight you see should be the accurate weight, but if you want to be extra sure, then step off and on a couple more times to make sure you are getting the same number each time. If you are, that's the accurate weight. If you don't want to go through that every time, then find a spot of set it down and leave it. 🙂

I'm having the same problem. This is ridiculous, that so many people are having the same issue. Surely this is a fault with the product? Each time we weigh ourselves, in quick succession, the weight is different. Sometimes wildly different, other times less so, but still different. I can't get a consistent reading from this thing, and neither can other users in my house. I've re calibrated and kept the device in one place. And tried removing the batteries. Is there any other advice please? Many thanks.

I changed the batteries even though it still showed at least half a battery life left and it has worked more consistently - until last night. Back to its old tricks. 17 pound difference - and it kept thinking I was a guest. No one else ever used my Aria. Very Frustrated

I also have this issue and have tried all the suggestions on the help page.  Ours is on a concrete floor, doesn't move around, etc, and never gives an accurate reading.  I tried to weigh 12 times this morning and never got an accurate reading.  My weight fluctuated by 7 lbs within a few seconds apparently.  I do not feel these scales are fit for purpose and Fitbit really need to address these issues as they are taking a lot of money from people for an item that clearly does not work.

Reset aria but giving differnt weights from 78.8 - 77.3 kg. The feet position and how you step on the scales also create a range weights.

Mine does the same, varying over 7kgs! But, I'm super shortsighted, and have to lean forward to see the readings when I'm on the scale. Then I worked out if i lean back i weigh much less! Appears to me weight distribution pplays a big part in accuracy of the scales. Now I check theapp to read my weight and not the scales while I'' being weighed

@cat8 It's great to have you aboard in our Fitbit Community! Seems odd that your Aria scale is not tracking your weight accurately. Please take out the batteries for 15 seconds and put them back in. Once this has been done, weigh yourself 5 consecutive times and check out if the accuracy gets corrected.

Keep me posted on the outcome my friend! Smiley Happy

Hi @JuanJoFitbit

I had already taken the batteries out, reset the scales and fiddled around endlessly and it makes no difference. It seems to me that the pads at the front an back of the scales are sensitive to fluctuations in pressure. Being short sighted I had to lean forward to read the scales, and by doing that I can easily add on 5kg. I find now I hop on the scales, don't look at them, and check on screen later on to see what I weigh is giving me a consistently accurate read.

Actually just discovered this too! Unsure if I was too far forward etc, but I just weigh myself 5 times, first three times no change then I didn't look and then like a 1.5kg lighter,  for the last two times,

i was questioning if my diet was actually working......

@cat8 Thanks for getting back! The readings may vary by moving a little by moving forward. Try weighing yourself without moving and standing still for the next 48 hours and let me know if the readings keep consistent.

@i8rett0wski Thanks for joining us in this thread! Please make sure that your Aria is placed on an even or flat surface. Also, make sure to stand still on the scale on every measurement so the scale doesn't track weird readings since moving just a little bit may affect the reading.

Let me know if the issue persists my friends! Smiley Happy

I'm glad I'm not the only one!

I keep the scales up against the wall, and take the batteries out to reset and position it on the floor in the same place every time before every weighing. Even then, it will vary up or down by up to 3 or 4 lbs for consecutive attempts.

I figure the trend over many days or weeks probably shows the truth, but I can't rely on any actual number it gives me. Frankly for £100 worth of technology it's utterly bloody useless! I'm sadly addicted to the wifi updates to the app though 😞

We're actually going to keep our old, cheap scales next to the Aria so that we can check whether the Aria is accurate each day and delete the readings from the fitbit app (and replace with the reading from the cheapie) when it's talking nonsense. The cheap one will tell me the same weight both times if I step on it twice - that's so reassuring after messing around with the Aria for a couple of very frustrating years where I don't think it's ever agreed with itself 10 seconds apart

Update:

Having seen fitbit staff advise to remove the batteries for 15 seconds and weigh yourself 5 times to get truly accurate, I though I'd try it.

I took the batteries out for 20 seconds, to make sure it was at least 15... planted the scales on a flat piece of the wooden bathroom floor and weighed myself 11 times over 6 minutes, looking to see when that accuracy kicked in (all in lbs):

218.1

215.3

215.9

216.2

215.6

213.2

213.8

214.8

214.1

214.1

213.2

Anyone care to guess how much I actually weighed this morning? I haven't got a clue!

I'd say having lost 5lbs in 5 minutes you would weigh around 170lbs now. Am I right???

And yes, that is exactly how well the scales work at my house. Every now and then they weigh so far out of range for me that the scales don't know who I am! The scales are in the one spot, never moved, no kids to muck around with them. They are just not worth the investment except for gimmick value

Having the same issue called cus service with setup that's a different issue in it  self. This is sensitive to anything you do to it expl. Just from one place to a nother  it's like it reset its self. This scale is junk wast of money never buying anything from Fitbit again. Going to stick with a normal digital scale. The Fitbit  scal uses old technology.  Plain and simple. How do I know this you ask read the setup institutions it tells you to be 10 feet from scale to set it up. That's old technology. You scale weight will always be of from 2-5 lbs ever time. Il put money on that any day.  Sorry everyone we all got take for a ride. Thank Fitbit
