Even with new batteries, the Aria keeps turning on and off until the batteries die. It will not recognize me, I'm always a guest. But, it recognizes my wife right away.

@wpeggleston It's great to have you aboard in our Fitbit Community! Seems odd that your Aria scale turns on and off all of a sudden. Please take out the batteries again and clean the contacts of the Aria with a cotton swab and a little bit of alcohol. This will remove dust that the contacts may accumulate.
After cleaning the contacts, weigh yourself 5 consecutive times in order to re-calibrate your scale and check out if it recognizes your user.
Keep me posted on the outcome my friend!

All of a sudden I am having the same problem. The scale is just over a year old. I'm going to try to clean the contacts.
HOWEVER, $149 for a scale is a huge amount of money.
There are other threads on here on here dating back to 2015 with this same problem. I haven't seen any solution yet. I'm going to be really upset if this problem isn't resolved and get "oh it's out of warranty". It's a known problem. It should have been addressed a long time ago.

No, cleaning the contacts and the battery compartment did not work.

I would add to this - my scale is perhaps 2 years old, and it from time to time goes into the constantly-on mode. This drains the long-life battery in 2 months at most.
The scale is clean, no dust, etc. Taking the batteries in and out does not help much more, it only adds the setup process to go through again. Obviously I am not treating seriously the advice to clean the contacts as this is pretty random advice and rather proves there is little knowledge on the root cause.
Support Team - would you please share what the root cause of the well-known for a long time issue is? I think the community of customers would appreciate the outcome of your investigations and hopefully with time see some solutions on the horizon.
Thanks!

I have the exact same issue. Very frustrating. Seems like the product was engineered to last 12-18 months. Mine is out of warranty so I guess there is no recourse.

I have done everything Support has asked me to do. But still the problem remains. If I buy batteries for it regularly I use a 4 pack of AA alkaline batteries about every 10 days.

I have the same issue and am not pleased to hear they will not fix it. I guess I will look at other brands.

Same thing here. About 1.5 years old and now just burns through batteries. I walk by it and see it on when nobody has used it. Cleaned contacts everything they said, the only thing left to do is put a "on-off" switch on the **ahem**. With no more help from the manufacturer, I will never buy another one of thier products again. RIP Aria.

Below is an email I just sent support in response to my ticket.
===========================
I have tried all you have asked. But nothing is correcting this problem.
I have seen several new posts from other users since my original reply to this post, saying they have the same problem but still no solution.
Every user is replying back they are following suggested troubleshooting steps.
It is apparent this model is greatly flawed.

My aria is doing the same thing as the others on this thread. Are there any solutions to this problem? I love the scale but it keeps turning itself on.
Regards,
Robert

next time i use the scal suprise suprise batteries dead
costing a fortune in batteries
