"Something went wrong" during Aria Air setup

There has been a consistent difficulty with setting up the Aria Air scale since Fitbit moved to Google. When attempting to pair the device, an error occurs. Scale issue.jpg

The issue is not the scales. The problem is Google pushing us to convert our accounts.

I created a non-Google account, ignored the multiple nags, paired my Versa 3 and Aria Air, and all work just fine.

The dev team half-assed the account conversion and broke pairing via Bluetooth. I can still pair my watch with my Google account, but not the scale.

The devs probably have more on their plate than some randos complaining about scales. I suspect that there are no devs assigned to Fitbit exclusively at all, and coming up with a fix for this issue would require someone who knows both the fitbit device API and the Google account API.

So, yeah, Google won't be fixing this anytime soon. It better be before they force us to migrate.

Google, are you listening? Don't be evil, remember?

I'm currently using mine to flatten some towels in the bathroom. I was actually thinking of then using it as a feed mat for y cat's bowels.

You raise a nice idea. @tgodden... maybe we can start and list alternative uses for a set of Aria scales.

Has this been resolved yet?

I am unable to use my scale as intended.
I’m now looking at Garmin products.

Same problem- can’t get it to pair. I’ve reset the devices, removed devices. Removed app, reset everything, phone on and back on etc etc. nothing

Every since the company switched to Google, I get the same thing ..  A continuous loop of nonsense.  I spent hours of my lifetime I will never get back

@Wjeder is your aria air scale new enough that you can return it? Fitbit support gives all these suggestions of things to do to make it work, but having spent hours following their instructions over and over, I finally gave up. I don’t know why they just didn’t respond that this is a known problem instead of acting like we did something wrong  and that’s why it’s not working. Since manufacturers warranty is worthless if you didn’t buy directly from Fitbit, I have to wait until it expires to file a claim against extended warranty.

Is there a resolution to this?  It is November now, and I am having this exact problem.

I should add that my scale is an Aria 2, but it was just fine until I had to change the batteries, and now I need to set it up again.  I've tried everything I am reading here, including restarting my phone, taking out batteries on the scale, turning Bluetooth on and off again, etc.  Sometimes I get to the point where I can put the 4 digit number into my device, and sometimes I don't get that far before having an issue.

The scale is useless at the moment.

I appreciate the feedback. I’ve submitted to Amazon for an immediate return
and already dropped it off at UPS. Thank you all!

The only way currently known to get pairing working is to use a non-google
email address to setup the Fitbit account not using google authentication
i.e. using the original Fitbit authentication. Links to this can be found in
other posts.

I joined this forum only to answer this question as it has been such an issue for me as well. I tried everything suggested here without luck; but I now FINALLY resolved it. Here is my solution: I initially had my Fitbit account connected through my Google account. I deleted my watch/partially connected Aria Air off that account, logged out, and created a new Fitbit account through their website (NOT by linking my google account). After creating this Fitbit account and signing in to the app with it, I was able to log in my Aria Air on the first try!

Glad that works for you. But what happens in 2025 when you have to use a Google login to Fitbit. Google made us switch to keep Fitbit premium from our health insurance. 6 more weeks and I can file a claim against the extended warranty, since Fitbit’s warranty appears to be valid only if you bought directly from Fitbit.

Lmao it doesn’t matter. You can’t create a Fitbit account now.

Interesting, sounds like Google will not be supporting out dated products
at that time. They should make this very public. Hopefully they do for
those purchasing products now. I’ve had mine for years, and don’t want to
purchase new. Will reassess next time I need to reset if needed - may need
to change products if I’m forced to upgrade. I’m sorry this has gotten
this complicated for everyone!

Have you tried the link in one of the other posts, it took me straight to
the creation of a Fitbit account.
