Fitbit Update: 09/3/2017

Our team is still actively investigating the root cause of this battery drain with Blaze and the Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+. I'm sorry that many of you are still having issues with a shorter battery life, but rest assured this is being looked at as high-priority for our team. My apologies for the inconvenience, and thank you all for your patience! I will provide an update as soon as there is more information available. In the meantime, please continue manually syncing your Blaze trackers only when needed. This will help preserve the battery-life.

Fitbit Update: 08/14/2017

Hi everybody!

Thanks for reporting your experiences with a rapid battery drain on Blaze trackers and your Android device - Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+. Our team is aware this is affecting Blaze users and they are investigating the root cause. I will update this thread when there is more information available.

As a temporary workaround, turn OFF "Always Connected" and the "All-Day sync" features. Make sure to manually sync your devices at least once a day.

Thanks for your patience!

Im sick and tired of hearing about this "work around fix". I bought the fitbit with the promise that the product does x,y,z. If I bought a car and it did not start with a key and the dealer told me that the work around is to crank it, I'd tell them to GFTS too.

Ive been told to turn off the heart rate monitor and the always connect. These are the reasons why I bought this product.

No reason for the attitude man. Just saying what has worked for me. Take the advice or throw it away. I understand the sentiment as I got it for the same reasons. At this point it is what it is.

@calecp01, The update did not fix Blaze battery drain.. Not for me.

Do you mind sharing where you're located and what carrier you have? I'm curious when this update will drop for me cause I'm hoping it also fixes my non-fitbit related Bluetooth issues.

I'm also having bluetooth issues.

Specifically bluetooth audio skips like a broken CD if my blaze is paired and the Fitbit app is installed.

The fix for me is to uninstall the Fitbit app, and unpair the blaze.

Fitbit, please fix this. I now don't have a convenient way to sync my workouts!

FYI I've uninstalled the FitBit app and unpaired my Blaze and the audio skipping issue still came back.

@calecp01 I'm living in Sweden, NEE region (Tele2).

But the update did not help. I also tested to use a old watch-layout but it dosen't help.
24-36 hours battery time. I'm also doing the test on all three blaze's I've got now.
Starting to wonder if I should abandon Fitbit.. But I have bought so many bands..
I think I'm wait over the summer, they must soon notice the problem. Perhaps I should look them up on Facebook..?

Yeah, I know it didn't help, I'm just having other Bluetooth issues with my S8+ (audio stuttering) that I'm hoping this update might address. The fact that they keep wasting time and money sending replacements to people when it is clearly not a hardware issue doesn't give me much hope that it is gonna get fixed anytime soon. I tried their Twitter support and it was more of the same, they were just like "the s8+ isn't a supported device, so, sorry!".

It's got to be something with the S8/S8+. I had zero issues with the firmware update for two months with my S7. I was getting 5-6 days of battery life. Upgraded to the S8 6 days ago. I've had to charge my blaze 4 times since then. Let it drain completely yesterday, charged it up fully last night, and I'm already below 50% today.

Unpair and remove fitbit app for now. My blaze lasted 36 hours before. Today it's barely drained. I have it paired with my Tab S2 for now to update my stats.

If we turn everything off what's the point of having it ?!?

It looks like fitbit has to fix this as it is the only device that is common to the problem. When I was in the Samsung store getting my 3rd replacement, another guy was next to me wearing a fitbit blaze with the same bluetooth problem. I later put 2 and 2 together and came up with the solution until fitbit sorts out their issues with the soft/hardware combination.

3 S8s, same problem. Many people with the same problem. This needs fixing by someone and I don't care who.

Samsung phones are too popular for fitbit to ignore it. Garmin Fenix 5 is looking good now as I contemplate my yearly replacement fitness watch.

That's good to know, it seems it's just coincidental that I got a new phone the same time the problem started. I heard others complain the same thing happened, so I thought that may have had something to do with it. I wonder if your blaze is as old as mine or newer? I got mine when they 1st came out in March last year. How about you?

Same problem here. I thought the battery was wasted. I did not realize that the Galaxy s8 was not supported. This explains the other issues I've been battling for the last few weeks. Connectivity is very hit an miss, very difficult to get it to sync. Notifications rarely work. I hate having to re-login to my app ALL THE TIME!

Hope Fitbit gets with the game here for sure. I love my Blaze, I don't want to have to buy a different watch, but that a lot cheaper than buying an older phone so i can use my tracker...

Have the same problem, fitbit contacted me and told me the watch should not be doing that and said my my blaze wasn't working properly, but since I was 3 months out my one year warranty they offered a 25% discount on a new one. Like I would waste my money on another one. No explanation on why it started doing it when I switched to the Samsung s8 though.

I have a Garmin Fenix 5x on the way. It's a bad idea for fitbit to ignore compatibility with such a popular flagship phone. Maybe they only care about apple fan boys?

Have an s8 and am getting 6 days of battery usage from mine. If you turn off heart rate, and the all day sync, it will get you better battery. You should not have to, But it does allow it to last longer.
