Blaze Clock Display

Fitbit. Why can't the time be displayed at all times on Blaze!!! Very annoying. Going from surge where I could always know what time it is back to a blank screen (and NO. It does not always turn on when I move my wrist to check time. Only occasionally does it do that). Better update soon to make that an option.
And while you're at it. Make the swipe to steps right there. Jeesh. Have to swipe to Today then look. Really awkward and unconvenient.

That's kinda what I thought....a jerk.  Now that you've proven it beyond a shadow of doubt, you and your Blaze can go crawl back under your rock and live happily ever after.....**ahem**!

It's such as shame that you have to keep resorting to insults. Even when others are offering advice in good faith you reply:

I can assure you that I'm very familiar with all twelve of the watch faces..... Maybe you should learn how to tell time then you would know how long it takes to change a watchface on the watch. Otherwise, I could just deal with a watchface that doesn't appeal to me so I can have one piece of functionality....that I still have to tap to make work

How does learning to tell the time compare with how long it takes to change a watch face on the watch? That doesn't even make sense!

If you'd used the energy you've spent being angry to focus on what people are saying, you might understand their opinions more clearly. Or at least have a clear head to accept that other people can have differing views to your own which you can disagree with respectfully...

I'll just pop off under my rock with my perfectly functioning Blaze and leave you to get angry with the world.

Thanks for reminding me..... yes, lack of clockfaces (12) is another issue.  A user configurable clockface would be ideal.  But, that's still secondary to being able to see what time it is without having to lift my arm several times.  My wife and I both are having a hard time justifying the additional features, which we like a lot, but not in exchange for the ability to see the time easier.

Respect is an issue. I lost all respect for you when you responded,

obviously have. For future reference, if you want to be heard or responded
to in a respectful manner don't insult your intended audience right off the
bat. Exactly what motivated you to respond to a post that doesn't concern
you in the least if you're happy with what you got. Could it have
been.....anger?

In parting, be careful not to bump your elbow multiple times on the bottom
of the whichever rock you choose for you and your Blaze.... just to see
what time it is.

Thankfully I won't need to bump my elbow because I can get my watch to come on with a gentle flick of the wrist, hence if you look through this thread you'll see me suggest several times that perhaps people aren't doing it properly or have a faulty watch...

The problem is, the wrist is not always at the correct angle to twist, this causes you to have to flick your wrist twice. And even then, it doesnt always come on. I cant imagine that everyone that is having a problem with the wrist flick either has faulty device, or they dont know how to flick a wrist properly. I think it's just not a great systematic feature. Even when i get mine to come on, I find that it's slow to respond. Even if others find its works fine, for me, it's slow.

Last i checked there where several feature requests for different screen timeout options. Go find the one you like and add your vote, why not let tye Fitbit develooers know what you would like to see. Complaining in this tgread only is getting yourselves upset, and will never get snything changed.

Hi. Actually, I feel people complaining here is a good thing - it lets me know that I'm not the only one having issues, and helps other people understand the product better.

When I bought Blaze 18 months ago, I didn't really understand exactly how it works - that you have to move your wrist in certain ways, and the display can't stay on.

I voted on a number of feature requests hoping that in time an "always-on" would be implemented (https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Feature-Suggestions/Allow-time-display-to-stay-on/idi-p/7935).

As you can see, that request is 4 years old.  And it's an issue in the new Fibit Ionic too (https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Ionic/Always-on-display-on-the-Iconic/td-p/2181204).

My takeaway from this experience is:

- Voice your issues but be prepared to accept the device as it is.

- Understand better what it is that you want, what are must-haves to you.

- Watch YouTube reviews, ask questions before buying a device to make sure it fits your needs.

It is apparent to me that the Blaze/Ionic line is a more casual device and doesn't fit my needs.  The wearables market is heating up at the moment, there's plenty of other options out there if FitBit won't listen.

Just out of interest, what exactly are your needs that aren't being catered for by the Blaze?

I can see you want an always on option, but what else do you require the device to do?

Is there a solution to this issue yet? I also at first twist my wrist to show the time but now it does not. So I have to press one of the three buttons in order to view the time, a bit inconvenient if your hands are full as in carrying things.

My apologies, I saw another forum that there is a Quick View setting which was turned off, after turning it back on, the clock display is shown again upon a wrist turn.

Best Answer

No, there is not a solution. And these threads and comments have been around for a really long time and Fitbit hasn't changed anything so I have a strong feeling it will never happen.

I need mine to stay on at least fifteen seconds which it does not.

The Fitbit idea is a sound one. But they push cheap crap on us. They don’t
always work and they don’t last. All you really need to stay fit is to
watch what you eat exercise and get on the bathroom scales as often as you
need.

Hi it drives me mad not being able to see the time when I look at my blaze. Please please please provide an update software to sort this. I have to really flick my wrist to get it to come on and I've actually got a repetitive strain injury in my should as a result. So have had to resort to pressing the left button to see the time. As I don't look at my watch so often (inconvenience of pressing button) I'm finding that I'm late for things. I know a few people with these watches who say exactly the same thing - option to have it on permanently and are happy to recharge every day if need be like your mobile. Thanks here's hopefully!

I've just upgraded from Surge to Blaze.

The wrist rotation thing is pretty annoying; I get something like a 50% strike rate for the screen to wake up.

So far I am not that happy with things.

Best Answer

@PhilthyC hold the forearm somewhat close to horizontal then rotate 90 °.

Hi,

Yep I get that.

But I don’t expect to have to make artificial and mechanical moves so I can see the time on my $400 watch!!!!

As I say, loved my Surge for many years; hate my Blaze so far.

Phil.

I’m all for the display turning off, but man it annoys me when I just want to see the time and I have to get through 2 screens to get there. Esp at night. I think the comment should have been I want the display to default to time? Or have the time on “all” screens?
