Blaze can provide Call, Text, and Calendar notifications so that you can stay connected!

This post will provide instructions on how to setup your alerts so that you can see who's texting you, the content of the messages, who's calling, and what your calendar has on deck for you. For a detailed overview of alerts for Blaze, please see this help page

Setup Steps:

  1. Make sure that your mobile device is compatible with our notifications feature by visiting http://www.fitbit.com/devices
  2. On your mobile device, make sure Bluetooth is enabled, and make sure your device is nearby! Note that you'll only receive notifications on your tracker when your mobile device is within this radius.
  3. Open the Fitbit app on your mobile device and tap your tracker tile at the top of your mobile dashboard.
  4. Tap your tracker tile a second time, tap Notifications, and then turn on call notifications.
  5. To verify that set up was successful, look at the list of Bluetooth-connected devices on your mobile device. Your tracker name should appear.

Using Alerts:

You can easily see all of your alerts by swiping up from the home screen. Here, you'll see previous incoming calls, text messages for the day, and calendar alerts as well. You may delete these alerts either individually or all at once.

Notes

  • For Android users, please ensure that you've turned notification access on in your settings and enabled each notification in the Fitbit App. Please also ensure that message preview is toggled on in your phone's settings, as this should help populate the message content.
  • iOS users should allow reception of text notifications in their Notification Center settings, in addition to the workflow for alerts in the Fitbit app for iOS.
  • Calendar notifications use the native calendar app in iOS, and the native or select 3rd party apps on Android.
  • Windows Phones don't support alerts at this time.
  • Fitbit trackers currently don't support emojis. Notifications containing emojis will show a blank square, instead of the emoji that was sent.
  • Text messages won't show up if the message app is open on your phone.
  • When using Message+, your Fitbit tracker will show a notification that looks something like this: (Contact Name – 1 New Message). This is because when messages are received in Message+, they're stored that way in the notifications center on Android.
  • If you receive more than one text message in succession from the same person, your tracker may group the messages together as "2 New Messages" or "3 New Messages" instead of showing a preview of the message text.

Hello Fitbit Team,

I had brought Fitbit Blaze and connected to my Iphone. I am able to receive notifications for iMessage, Call and Calendar. Can you please help us in getting Whatsapp notifications for IOS Devices as well (Android devices receives notifications from Message, Whatsapp and Twitter). Since Whatsapp is more frequently used now a days, we would expect Whatsapp notifications to be displayed.

I would also appreciate if you can make Fitbit behaves the same way for both IOS and Android devices.

This would help in increasing the sales as well.

Appreciate your help here.

Thanks!

Yes, I would like Fitbit to implement Whatsapp, Facebook and news alert. These would be ideal. I like apple watch but it looks more into the girly look. I hope Fitbit will implement WA, FB and News Alert.

OK, thanks - in the end I returned my Charge HR and exchanged it for the Blaze - my phone likes that one!

The only thing is I can't seem to get the call and text notifications working on it - it looks like I've done everything I need to do (bluetooth switched on, call and text notifications switched on in the app). Any suggestions please?

I am using my Blaze with a Motorola DROID Turbo 2. All of my notifications work perfectly and as expected except for 1 quirk: My calendar notifications coming from the stock Android Google Calendar always are preceeded and ended with 2 question marks inside squares for both the subject and time (see screen shot).

I realize that these symbols represent invalid characters, but there are no charactes or spaces on my PC and Android calendar where these are shown on my Blaze. I've searched the FitBit Community forums, but haven't found anyone else posting about this. Is this a known issue?

The appointments synced from my Google Calender include native Google Calendar appointments and Outlook appointments syched via Exchange -- both types have the same quirk.

Still having problems on my Nexus 6 where I cannot get any notifications. They worked when I first got my Blaze they just all of a sudden stopped working. I've unpaired and paired my Blaze and still nothing.

This happened to me too when an update rolled out a few days ago. I discovered that the notifications on the Blaze had reverted to "Off" apparently as an unintended side-effect of the update.

Simply press and hold your upper right button on your Blaze (or swipe down from the clock screen) and make sure notifications are set to "On".

Thanks, I've cecked that and it's on. Funny after posting this I got a phone notification but my text and calendar notifications still aren't coming in. I'm using Textra for text and the native Calendar app for Cale der.

OK. Thanks. It's sad though. I paid the same amount for my fitbit as the
iPhone users. Maybe they should change price based on your device. Smh....

I have iPhone 6S Plus running IOS 9.3.1. I have issues with my text notification, a lot of times my Blaze did not vibrate indication there were incoming text. I also saw some of the text messages were not show up on my Blaze. I cannot believe this Blaze has so many bugs (text notification, alarm did not go off, counting steps while driving, incorrect number of steps, etc). it is not ready for the market. I will wait for the next firmware upgrade if the problems are corrected then I will keep it otherwise I am going to return it and buy apple watch. My daughter apple watch seems to be good and less issues.

Went from Fitbit One to Blaze. Was working GREAT for DAYS!!!!!... up until yesterday. I was receiving notification, calendar and call and then it stopped for no reason. I have verified that I am paired, the alerts are set properly ect. All is set correctly, I have re-booted, re-installed app, deleted and started over the app and paring, pleaded with it, cried to it, promised I'd walk more and nothing is working. I have read all the posts, downloaded the manual and nothing seems to work. I have a supported phone blah blah blah. My husband's is still working fine (I set his up as well so I'm 1/2 a winner!), I have tried enabling the notification widget to see if that helped... and nothing. I am now officially emotionally constipated. Any other ideas before I run it over? Thanks all!

LannyD, I have a few ideas:

1) Looking at your screen shots, I see you have all-day sync off. Have you turned that on? I think having that off can delay or prevent real-time notifications.

2) You said you "re-booted" but not sure if you meant your phone on your watch. Have you rebooted your watch? (Press and hold left button and bottom right button simultaneously until logo appears)

3) Have you checked to ensure you have notifications turned on from the Blaze? (Press and hold upper right button and make sure Notifications is "On"

4) Have you called customer support? I've noticed that Fitbit support sometimes posts on these threads but most of the responses are just from other users.

Good luck.

Thanks eps105!

1. I had the all day syn on for 1/2 of today, but it didnt fix the problem, just drained my battery. I also turned on the widget as diecrted by some other users... that did not work either.

2. The re-boot, yes was to the watch. When shutdown did not work I did the left button and right lower button hold and waited for the logo.

3. Yes the notifications are on.

I think your right. Ill have to call. Grrr. I hate spending time on hold or talking to people who think I'm an idiot. Ok... Maybe I am. LOL

LannyD, now that you said that you rebooted the WATCH, I have to ask if you rebooted your PHONE? There was an Android Fitbit app update that pushed out yesterday, and after it installed, it displayed a notification on my phone saying that notifications may not work again until you reboot your phone. I can only hope that your problem is this simple, and if so, please don't hurt yourself when you smack yourself on your forehead. 😉

Mine has been working flawlessly for a couple of weeks now. Then the app updated today and it crashed and burned. I deleted the Blaze from my account to try to jump start it and it wouldn't re-pair. This was after rebooting both the Blaze and the phone several times/Bluetooth on/off, etc. I went through the process yet again, and it is all working again now, with neither rhyme nor reason. For what it's worth, I don't think you're an idiot!

This has to be a known notification bug across all Platforms that I hope Fitbit is working on. I was able to unpair, delete and pair again only to get notifications for my phone back. BTW I never was able to get notifications for my Calender on my Nexus 6 which is a compitable phone according to Fitbit. .
