Blaze can provide Call, Text, and Calendar notifications so that you can stay connected!

This post will provide instructions on how to setup your alerts so that you can see who's texting you, the content of the messages, who's calling, and what your calendar has on deck for you. For a detailed overview of alerts for Blaze, please see this help page

Setup Steps:

  1. Make sure that your mobile device is compatible with our notifications feature by visiting http://www.fitbit.com/devices
  2. On your mobile device, make sure Bluetooth is enabled, and make sure your device is nearby! Note that you'll only receive notifications on your tracker when your mobile device is within this radius.
  3. Open the Fitbit app on your mobile device and tap your tracker tile at the top of your mobile dashboard.
  4. Tap your tracker tile a second time, tap Notifications, and then turn on call notifications.
  5. To verify that set up was successful, look at the list of Bluetooth-connected devices on your mobile device. Your tracker name should appear.

Using Alerts:

You can easily see all of your alerts by swiping up from the home screen. Here, you'll see previous incoming calls, text messages for the day, and calendar alerts as well. You may delete these alerts either individually or all at once.

Notes

  • For Android users, please ensure that you've turned notification access on in your settings and enabled each notification in the Fitbit App. Please also ensure that message preview is toggled on in your phone's settings, as this should help populate the message content.
  • iOS users should allow reception of text notifications in their Notification Center settings, in addition to the workflow for alerts in the Fitbit app for iOS.
  • Calendar notifications use the native calendar app in iOS, and the native or select 3rd party apps on Android.
  • Windows Phones don't support alerts at this time.
  • Fitbit trackers currently don't support emojis. Notifications containing emojis will show a blank square, instead of the emoji that was sent.
  • Text messages won't show up if the message app is open on your phone.
  • When using Message+, your Fitbit tracker will show a notification that looks something like this: (Contact Name – 1 New Message). This is because when messages are received in Message+, they're stored that way in the notifications center on Android.
  • If you receive more than one text message in succession from the same person, your tracker may group the messages together as "2 New Messages" or "3 New Messages" instead of showing a preview of the message text.

try this:

go into your fitbit app on your phone

tap the 3 little lines on the left and menu appears

tap DEVICES

tap BLAZE

scroll to 'always connected"--turn on

scroll up

tap call and text notifications

and enable calls

and enable text notifications

(just use messages NOT message+--on my samsung galaxy 6 i was told)

enable notification widget

i am far from an expert--but this worked for me.  i hope it helps

Fands, that's very helpful thank you! Unfortunately I had already tried all of those with no luck. Hopefully it will help someone else.

Danielle, advising to restart devices is not so helpful, particularly as several of others have already stated we have tried that. Do you think we're daft?

Now randomly my Blaze did get the text notifications this morning, and then nothing this afternoon despite getting some texts to my phone and everything else working well. I suspect in my case it's something intermittent with my phone, which is occasionally rubbish in other ways. I'm getting a new one soon so I'll see if that solves my Blaze problem!

@jenshepherd sorry I'm in so late. When you say un-pair,  where you referring to Bluetooth Classic which is strickly used for music control?

Swipe down on the notofacation panel,  hold down on sounds amd let go.  Scroll down and make sure show on lock screen is enabled.

Now swipe down hold and release Bluetooth,  do ypu see the Blaze (dont worry about Blaze Classic) listed? If not try a sync again, this is the easiest way to pair the Tracker. Usually ot will show after a few syncs.

Ypu day the other settings are set

I suddenly stopped getting phone and e-mail notifications, and all settings are correct and on.  So, I switched to the BitTicker app and still nothing...  So disappointed in the Blaze.  I shouldn't have to work so hard to make it work.  😞

Thanks for this information about Notifications on Blaze. I searched through posts trying to find a similar issue I was having.  I have a Note 5 (I know it is not on the supported phones, but it does work) and I use Chomp SMS for messages vs the built in messages app.  I was finding that I would get TWO notifications every time I got a text on my Blaze.  I did a lot of troubleshooting, and never could find a solution when Chomp SMS was my default messaging app.  I decided to try to switch to the messages app built in, and the double notifications went away on my Blaze!  So my guess is it is something with Chomp SMS and now they do notifications.  When I was using Chomp SMS as default app, I made sure the notifications on Messages app was OFF.  So Chomp SMS was the only one sending notifications.  I put this on something with Chomp SMS.  I will still use Chomp SMS because of easy group texting and delayed texts, just not as my default app.  Is anyone else having such issues with double text notifications on blaze?  Did you find a fix?  Anyone using Chomp SMS on a Note 5 with a blaze connected by chance? 🙂  Thanks!

I just loaded a side app that lets me tell my phone to leave both Fitbit and FitTicker open all the time.  I think the phone is shutting these apps down and somehow losing permissions every time.  It's a royal pain.  I'm having to sideload apps to tell the phone to keep them up.  If I switch the battery, I've got to re-open the apps and re-establish permissions.  If I just keep charging the same phone with the same battery in it, I doubt I'd have these issues.  I tend to switch my battery in and out on long days.  They don't think about this with Android.  I imagine that is why Apple is not having these problems.

On Andtood both Fitbit , bitticker, i don't know about Fitticker, start up the background services apon restarting the phone, and notifacations should work.

At work i put the phone in ultra power save mode, no notifacations,  but when i take it out of power save, they start right up ive also recieved on my blaze, notifacations from the phone before it has fully loaded everything apon startup.

When notifacations have stopped,  ive noticed yhe Blaze is no longer paired, a forced sync will fix this.

I purchased my first Fitbit Blaze almost a month ago. Notifications for texts, etc. worked for a little more than a week and then they suddenly stopped working. I was also unable to get my tracker to sync. I tried everything suggested in the community help forums and finally exchanged it for a new Fitbit Blaze. I lost all the data between 6/11 and 6/25 since I was unable to sync it before I did the exchange. I am experiencing the same issue with the new Blaze regarding notifications. I have an iPhone 6 and the Fitbit shows it is pared with it under my Bluetooth settings, however, I do not receive notifications, texts, etc. I just called Fitbit Support and after working with my tracker for a short period, the representative said there is a "bug" with iPhone notifications and the Fitbit engineers are working on resolving the issue. If this has been a known issue for an extended period of time which seems to be the case, it is completely unacceptable. After reading through the posts on the forum, it is evident that there is an unresolved problem that needs to be addressed and fixed immediately. The rep could not provide an ETA for when the "bug" might be fixed.

I could not be more unhappy with this product. My instinct is to return the second Blaze while I can. Unfortunately, I have already purchased 2 new bands for the watch and will be out cost of the bands.

When I click "sync" it says it can't synch at first, but I think it's just
taking a moment for the phone to connect to the website. Generally it will
sync within five minutes on a manual sync, if that helps. Keeping it
connected all day is almost impossible, but I can keep it on short term
within range of the phone for driving or for a run when needed or when
shopping, which is handy when I can't hear my phone or check it.
