ISSUE: Can't sync or pair Blaze with an iOS device

BLAZE FIRMWARE VERSIONS AFFECTED: (8.301.7) & (8.200.3)

iOS VERSIONS AFFECTED: 10.2.x

*** FIXED IN BLAZE FIRMWARE VERSION (8.301.8) ***

Still having trouble? Can't update or sync?

Read the difference between unbonding and unpairing first:

Unbonding - going into the bluetooth settings of your iPhone or iPad, selecting the Blaze, then choosing "Forget This Device".

Unpairing - going into the Fitbit app, selecting the Blaze, then choosing "Remove This Blaze".

*** DO NOT DO THIS TO TROUBLESHOOT THIS SPECIFIC ISSUE ***

Now that you've read that, try unbonding BEFORE trying to update your Blaze firmware (see screenshots below):

  1. Go to your iOS device's Settings > Bluetooth > Find Blaze in the "My Devices" list.
  2. Tap the info icon and tap "Forget this Device".

Okay, I've unbonded. Now what?

Try syncing your Blaze, then try to update the firmware.

Still can't sync or update? Here are some suggestions:

  1. Try doing some standard sync troubleshoots
  2. Sync/update using an alternate device (if possible)

Updated on 1/20/17 for clarity.

There were people posting a fix last week. Mine was only down 1.5 days and I followed the steps provided and it was working fine.
I'm glad yours is working now! I was glad they fixed the issue, I bought 3 blazes as Xmas gifts, and didn't know what I was going to do if the fix didn't come through.

Hello,

since yesterday I have been trying to update and sync my Fitbit blaze to the app. The tracker will not sync also has the wrong time and when I try to update it goes back to the screen giving me the option to update. I have tried restarting my Fitbit as well as my phone and I did "forget this device" and then when I tried to connect the device to the app again it sends me the code but does not go any further then that and gets stuck on the code screen. Please help!

Thanks,

Leah

I still see some confusion here so I want to clarify the steps you should take if you're having trouble updating your Blaze.

Here's what you should do BEFORE re-attempting to update your firmware (see screenshots below):

  1. Go to your iOS device's Settings > Bluetooth > Find Blaze in the "My Devices" list.
  2. Tap the info icon and tap "Forget this Device".

The update on my won't install. It gets about halfway through then stops. I've powered down my phone, restarted my blaze, turned Bluetooth on & off but it's just not doing anything??

I'm having the exact same troubles.  I tried removing app, restarting phone, reinstalling app.  I've tried resetting the Fitbit three times.

The time/info on the Fitbit is wrong and nothing is syncing or updating.

I don't know if it's due to a recent iOS update that I did with my Apple iPhone?

Delete it from your Bluetooth completely and retry it.

I managed to update last night after the release and I am still having the same issues, after the update it synced fine, tried again earlier today and it still couldn't find the blaze, turned off/on BT and restarted blaze and it synced.... tried again to sync tonight and guess what... same issue, still not finding the blaze after the update.... I would test the connection more than once through the day to confirm if this update actually works because on mine it does not

I agree with Moderator AndrewFitbit's assertion that there is 'Confusion Here', but not on the User side.

I, like many others, have done the following:

  1. Go to your iOS device's Settings > Bluetooth > Find Blaze in the "My Devices" list.
  2. Tap the info icon and tap "Forget this Device".

And still had the problem with the FitBit loading.

Additionally, I've deleted the FitBit App, and reinstalled it from the App Store.

Restarting the Fitbit App, I re-entered the email and password for access. Sort of like setting up again for the first time.

I've done this 3 times, and this time I went to document each screen as it came up and the "Loading..." finally completed.

Some combination of connecting, forgeting device, deleting app, rebooting and resetting finally caused it to update.

I can tell you that it is not as simple as merely 'Forget This Device' on Bluetooth, or everyone's probelm would be fixed by now.

Well, the steps i have done fixed my syncing issues. The update that was put out broke a few things

1. No more reminder to walk, even if i turn it off, sync, turn it on, sync.

2. Notices don't work unless i use the default "Original" face in my blaze.

When Apple releases their next iOS, will we have then same issues as we have here???
