Counting steps when not being worn

I took my blaze off and left it on my bedside table overnight, and wake up to see I've walked 18500 steps. This has happened before, and I've fixed this by going to the activity log online and set my activity to driving for the period the blaze apparently recorded my steps. However I have done that this time, but it still says I've walked over 18000 steps and burned 1000 calories. Does anyone know why this has happened and how to fix it properly?

A warm welcome to the Community @JackLofts21! Thanks for letting me know that you've fixed this issue by logging driving in your account. I would like you to restart your Blaze and after this keep monitoring it.

I believe the reason why it's showing steps when you're not using it, may be because your Blaze isn't restarting at midnight. Please double check that it has the correct timezone.

I'm afraid to mention that at this time, the only alternative solution will be logging driving as an activity to delete those extra steps.

Hope this helps!

@JackLofts21, $ome people turn their Blaze off at night, when they are not wearing it, occasionally this causes your s5eps from yesterday to carry over to today as @SilviaFitbit points out. Unfortunately if the steps where recorded yesterday and carried over to today, logging the time as driving will not work, sonce these steps where recorged yesterday.

Some also have reported steps being recorded while the tracker is on a table next to a fan that is on the same table.

I have a related problem.

I wear my fitbit when sleeping. I do wake up 2 - 3 times every night and go to bathroom.

When I wake up in the morning, the Blaze usually reports that I have walked 300 - 600 steps during the night. Not true.

I may have walked 100 steps or so going to bathroom. Definitely not 300 - 600.

@RichardMW, are you a restless sleeper and move around a lot?

Your tracker monitors arm motions.

Rich_Laue,

I don't think I move around a lot while in bed.

I do get out of bed every few hours.
