Your Blaze should light up for a second with the battery screen when you initially remove it from its band and close it in its charging cage that is plugged into the USB port of an active (not asleep) computer or smart phone charging block. If it doesn't light up, ensure the row of gold connections on the back of your blaze matches up to the row in the tray you are dropping it into 😉 It only takes about 10 minutes for your Blaze to gather enough ummph for you to tap the screen and see the battery status briefly pop up. If you don't see it be sure to contact customer service to let them know what you have tried.

Welcome to the Community @Aztek, @WendyB and @wmchapman thanks for stopping by.
I would like to know if the recommendations provided by our friends worked? You won't be able to see the battery icon until you paired the device. To set up your Blaze from your Fitbit app check this post and follow the instructions provided there.
