Message notifications on Blaze

Hi everyone! Just two quick questions about the Blaze's notifications system:

1) From my understand, "text message notifications" on the Surge are limited to SMS messages, meaning iMessages between iPhones do not show up on the device. Is this also true for the Blaze? Almost all of my contacts that I text on my iPhone 6 are also iPhone users, so all of their texts are iMessages. Will none of these show up on the Blaze?

2) From my understand, the Surge only shows single most recent text message, as in if you miss a text notification, a newer text will erase the old notifcation. Is this also true for the Blaze, or will it be possible to view all of the unread notifications from texts?

I'm not sure about the Blaze, but both statements above are incorrect about the Surge. I definitely get iMessage alerts. Also, you can go back on another screen and read all messages from the previous 24 hours. After 24 hours, they are automatically deleted however.

@Nolander Thanks for the assist!

@dwang953 The above is correct- the Blaze currently holds on the most notifications you get throughout the day, resetting at midnight. On my phone now, I have all of my text messages, missed call notifications, and a few calendar reminders for the day (it's been a long week so far). Robot Happy

Once you pass that midnight barrier, they will clear out, and you'll start all over again. iMessage works fine for me, as does SMS. I know that WhatsApp works for certain Android phones as well!

Hello. I am hoping that someone can assist me. I'm sorry If I missed an existing response to my question, but would appreciate help. I have the BLAZE, a Galaxy Note 4 and utilize the messages+ app thru Verizon cellular service. I have not been able to read any sms on my Blaze; only receive the notification and the name of the person. I've tried to tap, double tap, push the buttons on the Blaze, etc. But nothing allows me to read any sms. I also closed my texting pop-up windows on my phone because the manual for the Blaze indicated that if the sms app is open you won't get it. I have all my notifications turned on, I'm paired and connected. Please help...or should I give up, sell this and buy a smart watch? Okay, I know that's drastic, but I think I'm beginning to feel slightly flustered. In advance, I thank you for your time and any support you can provide.

Even though Messages+ is an option to select from the Fitbit app, you will not receive anything other than the notifications if you continue to use it. You'll need to revert to the native app, Messages, in order to read the texts. Many people like the Textra app because of its customability, but most people also find that with Textra they receive multiple copies of the same text every time (which is what happened in my case). Since switching to the Messages app, I have not had any problems reading texts.

Note that if you receive multiple texts from the same person before you can read the first one, you will likely just get a notification that you have X-number of messages and won't be able to read them. This is not a Fitbit reaction, but rather the way Android pushes the notifications in those circumstances.

Actually, I think the Surge only holds on to your 20 newest messages from the last 24 hours.

Does Fitbit Blaze allow notifications from third party apps such as whatapp, facebook messanger?

Best Answer

@Hitz For the time being, the messages feature on Blaze is limited to SMS (iMessage for iOS included), though WhatsApp should be supported on Android. As a reminder, only one of these messaging applications will work at a time, so use wisely.

From what I understand, WhatsApp is not supported for iPhones (iOS).

Hello there! I have an android phone, I get text notifications but they only say who the message is from and not what the content of the message is. I have searched my phone and app settings for both fitbit and Messages/messages +. Can you help?

By viewing other posts, I have found out that the problem in my case was that I was using Message+ on my Galaxy. After changing to the default Messages app, my texts are coming through now!

Settings - Applications - Messages - Defaul messaging app

Don't forget to go back into the FitBit app and change it from Message+ to Messages.

hey @EmersonFitbit, I see you said iMessage works fine. I currently get alerts for phone calls and calendars...but iMessages are not coming through. I do have text message enabled, and it seems strange I don't get them since all other notifications are working.

Any ideas?
