Notifications-Blaze

I am having problems with my notifications. When I receive a call, my blaze buzzes but the screen stays black. When I receive a text message it just shows who sent it. After reading it looks like i have to use the preloaded messaging app on my phone. Can anyone help me with this? I'd really like to utilize these features but it's hard to when they don't work properly.

The Blaze vibrates when a call is received. The screen does not light up until you bring your wrist up to view it, assuming you have Quick View enabled. The same with text and calendar notifications.

I can't speak for iOS, but with Android you likely cannot expect to use Messages+ and see your text message content, just the name of the texter. The native app Messages works for me. The app Textra works, but you can expect to receive double notifications.

If you receive successive texts before you have a chance to read them, you will be notified that you have X-number of messages, but will not be able to read the content. This is an Android reaction and not the Blaze.

There is a character limit for the texts that can be viewed by the Blaze. Sometimes I receive a partial message and sometimes no notification at all if the message is particularly long. Really long. I haven't had this happen very often.

Call notifications with Android are just that--notifications of the person calling, assuming he/she is in your Contacts. Answering the call is a feature reserved for iOS and unavailable with Android.

Try doing a restart by pressing and holding the Back and Select buttons (left and bottom right) until you see the Fitbit logo on the screen. This should take less than 10-20 seconds.

Holding the buttons down does not restart it. It just moved the screen up and down. So I did a shutdown instead of restarting it. If I hit a button on the side it shows who is calling but does not automatically light up. Is that correct?

As already suggested, your Blaze is working correctly.

You need to activate the screen to see a notification (quick view, pressing a button) and the Message+ app isn't designed to work with the Blaze so you can only see whatever the app provides.

It's great to have you here 🙂  The Blaze display doesn't turn on when you receive a notifications it only vibrates and as mentioned by @Kait5991 if you have the quick view option turned "On" when you move your wrist it will turn on the display on and show your information.

Hi Angela,

Thanks for your reply. I checked the quickview option and it's on, however, when I have an incoming call and I move my wrist nothing appears. Also, I have to tap my screen multiple times for it to display notifications and/or screens.

Pleae advise...

I find this really annoying coming from previously having a Fitbit Charge (first world problem, I know!).  I loved that I could simply look at my wrist when a call was coming in to see who it was.  I have a son in daycare, so it was extremely helpful for those purposes when I was in meetings and didn't have my phone right in front of me.  I don't want to enable the feature that illuminates the watch face when I raise my wrist.  I had it enabled in the beginning, and it drove me crazy.  Has Fitbit looked into improving the call notifications for the Blaze in the near future?

What your asking has to do with displaying of call notifacations,  not the comunication of the notifacation.

A very light double tap of the display will turn it on, requiring only a glance down.

Did you add your vote to thiz feature suggestion.

Hello @LivelyKris welcome to the Fitbit Community! 🙂 As @Rich_Laue mentioned you can add your idea or vote for some suggestions on the Feature Request board. I found this idea to Turn on the screen during notifications or calls in BLAZE or this one to Show notifications without tapping the tracker, vote and add your comments.

Welcome to the Community @Jodiebee1986 @SunsetRunner! You should receive your notifications in your Blaze everytime you get one. However, there are some requirements that you need to have in order to receive them:

  1. Confirm that your mobile device is compatible with our notifications feature by visiting http://www.fitbit.com/devices
  2. Make sure Bluetooth is enabled by going to Settings > Bluetooth.
  3. Make sure your mobile device permits notifications:
    1. Go to Settings > Notifications > Phone.
    2. Make sure Allow Notifications is on.
    3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 to enable notifications for text messages, calendar events, email, and other third-party apps such as Facebook or WhatsApp.

In case you're using a third-party app, then check the following:

  1. Make sure Allow Notifications is on.
  2. Make sure Show in Notification Center is on.
  3. Make sure Show on Lock Screen is on.
  4. Under Alert Style When Unlocked, select Banners or Alert.
  5. Go to Settings > Do Not Disturb and make sure these settings are turned off because they prevent the mobile device from sending notifications to your tracker.

Additionally, you may want to check this Blaze notifications information post

Hope this helps. Let me know how it goes.
