Charge 5 Firmware Update 194.61

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

7/13 Update: We’re continuing to roll out this firmware for the Charge 5 Firmware Update 194.61, and expect more customers are able to update their devices. This is a progressive rollout and all customers can expect to have it within a few weeks. We release updates in phases so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed. If you don't see the option to update, don't worry - you'll have it soon!

We’re excited to announce that a firmware update version 194.61 for Charge 5 will be available soon! Some of you might already have this update available. If you installed it, let us know what you think!

We release updates to customers in phases. If you don’t see it, check the Fitbit app in a few days, and you’ll see a message when you can install the update. We appreciate your patience while we get this update to all of our customers.

*Firmware releases are not distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside. We do not recommend performing a factory reset to force the update to your device as your data will be lost and you may not get the update. Please be patient and wait until you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app to begin the firmware download.

@SunsetRunner I agree completely. Been there myself and even went on an unexpected "vacation". I want my Charge 5 fixed, replaced, or my money back! This is beyond ridiculous.

Yep, as I've noted in another post, I had to take an unexpected "leave of absence" for 2 weeks not long ago. I think the funniest and saddest thing I got called on was posting a section right out to the community guidelines that are constantly referred to when something is edited or just disappears. Called it inflammatory.😨 Wow. If referring to the community guidelines is inflammatory, then I think every post in this thread is inflammatory. That's pretty absurd. Also called me on not typing @ (whoever I would be replying to) when I replied to a post. Said it was multi-posting and confusing to other members. It's clearly in the upper right hand corner of every post that is being replied to. Wow again. I can't even find the full blown community guidelines anymore, just a watered down version???

Doesn't really matter.  My Fitbit charge 5 is totally dead now.  The offer for 50% off a device that doesn't have GPS really doesn't cut it.  This is a major fail!!!!!  I am not a happy customer.  Offer 50%off the new Google watch

I notice that on the Charge 6 page there are a growing number of complaints. Perhaps it should have been launched as the "Charge 5 Mk 2"? 😁

I’m not a happy customer either. I have a new Fitbit that bricked the day after I updated it and they don’t care. With most Fitbits lastiny2 years or less I would have bought several more but after this con job, I will never spend another dollar on Fitbit but will tell everyone about how shabby I was treated

I had a miband 1,2,3,4,5. One day I logged in, all the data disappeared. Contacted Mi. Nothing. Has to create a new account. They are cheap, but best avoided!

No thanks you can take it back. Since the update my watch can't even keep a charge for more than an hour.

@6TJS6

It's comical because half of the replies make no sense when the post they're replying to disappears.

These posts are ON topic! We are all beyond frustrated that we aren't getting any answers about our Fitbit Charge 5 was bricked a few months ago. Whether they were in or out of warranty, you have a responsibility to tell us what happened. The lame offer of a percentage off of another one of your products that we no longer have confidence in is ridiculous. Fix the ones we own or replace them with a working model or refund our money.

Hi,

It's mid-way through October and still no sign of the firmware update - I'm desperate to have more than 6 exercises available! Is it still being rolled out, or has my app missed the boat somehow?

I never thought of that but you bring up a good point. I noticed you typed in the @6TJS6, but if you look at the top right you'll also see that it says "in response to 6TJS6" as well, which is what I tried to point out to them. I've quit caring anymore to be quite frank, like a lot of others are.

Somehow i highly doubt their active players in this anymore. As far as i am
concerned, never will i buy another fitbit/google device. Funny thing too
on the google app site, comments for the app run similar.pure crap.

@6TJS6  But on my browser running on Android the "replying to ..." is not shown, so the @ is needed.

Okay, I guess I didn't consider other platforms. I always read and answer to posts from my Windows machine. It just seemed redundant to type it in, when it was showing up in the reply automatically.  Reading your reply now, I see you both typed in the @6TJS6, but it's also showing up in the top right hand corner. I suppose when I was called on that by the mods, they could have mentioned that as well, but of course didn't. Thanks for the heads up. 👍

@6TJS6  It becomes more strange. I told the browser to act in desktop mode, but it made no difference. I looked in the settings and didn't see anything useful. I am using the Brave browser.

Hmmm, perhaps Fitbit have problems with hosting websites as well as firmware and application programming 😁

For those waiting for the charge 6, go to the help forums there… be careful what you wish for 😆

What a joke 🤪

If your charge 5 is still working you don't want the update because then it
won't work.

The mods have not released an update or communicated to us in over three months, and I'm absolutely fuming about it! This company is clearly more interested in making money off of new products than actually listening to their customers. I'm so disappointed, and I'm starting to think that I need to find a new fitness watch entirely.
