Charge 5 Not Tracking Sleep

ANSWERED

I bought a Charge 5 for my wife for Christmas and it doesn't track her sleep. I now see that this is a common issue with these, something she didn't have with her Charge 3. We've tried a few suggestions, but nothing has seemed to work. One night it did start recording 4 hours after she went to sleep. Is this something that can be fixed with settings or should I just return it?

It's really such a bummer about the new CHARGE 5. My son uses Garmin and has not had such an issue ever (even with the 2017 version). The sleep tracking on my CHARGE 5 was fine for about a month when I bought it. Now it's more down than giving me any sleep data. I am really disappointed because I primarily use this function. It's really strange such a big fim is unable to fix this. An incredible fail I'd say. I am plannig to return the watch back to the seller.

The Fitbit description of the button location is inadequate. The button is located on the other end of the charging cable, on the USB connector. I’d be interested in knowing if using the button helped you - it didn’t do anything for me.

I deleted all logs. Will see what happens today. Thanks!

Yes, the fitbit instruction is not correct but I figured out what button they mean. This did not help. I deleted all old logs now, changed the clock face. Sounds ridiculous but maybe I will suceed tonight.

This did help. I also did all that was suggested on this site but the log deletion probably solved the issue. My sleep data was absent for about two weeks but now after I did the following I got the data (fine for 2 days now);

1. Deleted ALL data logs from the app.

2. Logged out of my fitbit profile and went back.

3. Changed the clock face.

4. Restarted a few times.

5. Updated the IOS on my iphone SE 2022.

Please see my task list above. The watch is a bummer of course but I found a way to revive it. Still - I am eager to give itr back and never again buy a fitbit (should the problem come back again).

Apart from updating iOS, I’m disappointed that Fitbit takes users back to a 1990s style fix-it-yourself of deleting logs and rebooting. This should be an automated fix, and the underlying issue still needs to addressed.

I have tried all suggestions with Fitbit 5

Sleep function..nothing works.  When and if it does record sleep it is always very inaccurate.

Had charge 3 & 4 previously always recorded sleep hours accurately.  This is obviously an issue with charge 5 perhaps it could be a priority to improve this issue asap.  It appears several users are having the same problems.

Hello everyone!

Unfortunately, the problem is back. After 10 days today I got no sleep index. I will try to delete all logs again but still the watch is a total failure. It seems we have to delete all data all the time so that the latest data can be displayed. And actually I've no idea which of the hints helped. I am just assuming the deletion of all old logs did the job. Will try again. I am so disappointed.

I do not see any BEST solutions in this blog. Nothing really helps.

This is extremely disappointing

I have tried all suggestions and nothing has worked.  I was always happy with my Fitbit watches up until this purchase.  I am thinking this will be the last..time for a different brand .

The silence from the FitBit product team, and the FitBit customer experience team is deafening. Ignoring this sleep tracking issue won’t make it go away. But it will turn us loyal FitBit users away toward more competent brands.

After weeks and weeks trying to solve the problems of the charge5 and the sleep registration, I found the solution: I went  back to the first clock: named Continuum.

I use Continuum clock face all the time and I am afraid it doesn't make any difference to my sleep tracking accuracy.

It is about time Fitbit made an effort to fix the problem.

Anything is worth a try before I send it back. Thank for the post

My charge 5 was not recording sleep at all or it would record it sporadically. After a week I changed the band to an aftermarket one on amazon. Not sure if this was the fix but its started recording sleep after I changed my watch band.
