I have had the new Charge 5 for 2 days. The battery discharges within a day. GPS is off, the phone is not set to always on. In looking over the troubleshooting instructions from Fitbit, it seems that you essentially have to disable all of the features that were selling points of this device in order to get decent battery life. Even my ancient Charge 3 got 6 days on one charge! Has anyone with this battery problem found a solution other than disabling everything?

Am seeing exactly the same thing. Second day with the device. Charged to 100% before wearing yesterday and battery was below 20% this morning (and it was fully charged at 3pm the previous day). Charged this morning till about 11am to 100%. Now 9:20pm and device down to 65%. I suspect I’ll be out of charge tomorrow morning. I don’t have gos on, don’t have spo2 on, don’t have screen always on. Will be seeing how I make out this weekend and then seeking a return. Loyal Fitbit user for many years. My charge 3 (from which I upgraded) would reliably last at least 7 days. This is horribly disappointing particularly given both the advertising of “up to 7 days”. For the price maybe just time to try someone else’s gadget instead.

Sent mine back and hoping they fix it. Loved the watch but if it’s not as advertised it’s not worth the money. I put my Charge 4 back on

I’ll be darned. That seems to be working. Restarted about 12 and it’s still about 99%. Crossing fingers

There is a major problem with the software in the Charge 5 and I think it has to do with the GPS. I was unable to turn off the GPS completely on the device until I went to the online setting from a web browser (The app and device does not allow you to turn off GPS, it only enable "phone" GPS).
I'm going to try using it again with GPS completely off and see if that fixes the battery drain. I think the software glitch it happening when the device detects a workout and then enables GPS but does not turn it off correctly causing massive battery drain. I've have done literally everything else possible to stop the battery drain!!! *Fitbit/Google engineers please fix this ASAP!!! (GPS that does not last more than a day is useless!)

I'm turning everything I can off and see if that helps.

Just go to settings, restart device.

Unfortunately, the charging problem had to be escalated to the "higher ups" because it's a new product.
Yesterday they asked me to restart the device and it died within hours twice and now is totally unresponsive. 😞

Restart device works for me. Battery drains issue only surface after I initiate an exercise that uses gps such as walking, running. I suspect even after ending the exercise , gps continues to be on in the background. Even though there is no indication it is. Really hope that Fitbit firmware engineers read this. I believe that after we restart the device, everything is back to normal. Just like a reboot.

I tried everythingto stop the battery drain and nothing worked. I get at best 2 days with everything disabled. No GPs, no live stats, dim, no display on, manual display, default everything else. I am forced to return it. Shame on Fitbit! Does the Inspire 2 have any problems? I don't know if I want to buy another Fitbit again after this.

Have you tried restart device? The rest of the settings just remain as what you get out of the box.

Yes, restarted after turning everything off and followed fitbit advice. Still battery is draining very quickly. My old Charge 3 got 7+ days with same settings. The Charge 5 is a step backwards.

I just turned off AOD and nothing else. so my gps is on , live data is on every other function is on. Haven't really used gps since the last full charge but today it's 5th day and still got 28% . So it might be a problem with your device's battery.

Last Update: I've had the Charge5 for 18 days now and the battery has never lasted more than 2-3 days going from 100% to 0%. I've figured out the pattern, it drains battery after a workout. It's fine until I hit an "Active Zone" and it ramps up the power drain and never stops. Example: Day1 Morning it went from 100% to 78% by late afternoon, 72% next morning, and after I worked out on day2 (around 3pm) it drops fast to 45% and then down to 0% sometime in the night. Only lasted 2 days, this was normal.
In the example above, I already did everything possible to extend battery life. I disabled GPS in web settings, live stats off, uninstalled EDA & Sp02, display dim, manual clock face turn on, I had only a few notifications, basically I dumbed it down to the same settings my Charge 3 had (that lasted me 7+ days). No luck. The Charge 5 battery life just sucks and I don't think it's a defect, I think it is a software glitch.
I've returned it today, with the $5 return fee x2 with the extra bands, thank you ;( Now I own the Inspire 2 and after having it on most of today it's battery life has only gone down 4%. That is amazing compared to the battery hungry Charge 5. The Charge 5 is a flop.
