Charge 5 battery draining too fast

I have had the new Charge 5 for 2 days. The battery discharges within a day. GPS is off, the phone is not set to always on. In looking over the troubleshooting instructions from Fitbit, it seems that you essentially have to disable all of the features that were selling points of this device in order to get decent battery life. Even my ancient Charge 3 got 6 days on one charge! Has anyone with this battery problem found a solution other than disabling everything?

I echo your sentiment and that of many others on this thread. I've been on and off with Customer Services for weeks and being sent around in circles. I'm tempted to contact Best Buy where I bought it and maybe see if they can work to get me a replacement.

At a certain point, they should have just offered a free replacement or upgrade if software cannot remedy the issue.

Guessing your question was directed to somebody else because my first post
about this problem wasn't until late April or early May.

Hope I don't jinx myself by saying this: But since I began the simple
procedure of restarting my Charge 5 after a full charge, I've had no more
problem with excessive battery drain. I'm back to getting easily a week on
a full charge. Tracker is using about 6-8% of a full charge per day.

I never resorted to turning off any features to save battery. The only
default setting I have changed (aside from the clock face) is that I have
my GPS set to PHONE. The only exercise app I use is WALK. Aside from
that, I use my Charge 5 mostly to track sleep, though I wear it 24/7 except
for showers.

To restate what has been said here before, there appear to be two different
battery drain problems being reported: Those complaining that their
batteries don't even last a day have something much more serious than I
did, perhaps their batteries are really defective. Even with the fast
drain on mine, I was still getting 3+ days on a charge.

The last thing I saw here about firmware was a couple of weeks ago, saying
they were about ready to roll out in phases new firmware on two models of
tracker, Charge 5 being the second. Since the restart workaround is
working so well for me, I'm actually dubious now about new firmware. I
prefer that they will take their time and get it right.

my experience is similar to yours. Since restarting on 4th day after going flat in 24 hours, 3 days in a row, I’ve had no problems and am now at 48% after 5 days from last charge, I did the firmware update about 5 days ago but I was already getting good discharge rate so don’t think that made much difference. My usage is similar to yours.

What Fitbit update did you do? Is this the magical one?

I’ve only received one update. It was about 5 or 6 days ago. I deleted the email that informed me about it.

The LONG awaited, LONG promised Charge 5 firmware update just loaded onto my tracker moments ago.  Now, we test and see what happens......

I have not seen a firmware update. How did it come down? Was it in an email or automatic update through the app? I am just asking. I don't know if I should do the update as since my original post in March, doing the same thing you are doing has so far. I restart my fitbit after I charge it to 100%. Doing this, I have gotten about 8 to 9 days out of my fitbit.

Thanks in advance for your response.

Can someone who got the firmware update please share the firmware version (its viewable in the app, when you select your device from the account page)

I'm currently on 57.20001.149.11, that is without any recent update that I am aware of

Thanks

My Fitbit Charge 4 died on me today. Fitbit offered me a discount to purchase a new tracker from them. I've read lots of good things about the Charge 5 until I come here and read about the horrible battery life. I guess I'll hold off purchasing it until I hear this software issue resolves the problem. Sounds like it might have for some people. I guess I'm in "stay tuned" mode.

That is the same version I have 20001.149.11 yet someone else seems t have a more recent one 20001.171.50. I have charged and synched my device but no change. Does Fitbit publish the latest version anywhere. I am beyond frustrated.

@Wildcatguy What version loaded for you?

I went to the app on my phone and it said there was a firmware update there. I just got done downloading the firmware update. I hope it does not mess up my C5.

I think that My version is 3.63 (36355015). Not sure what the numbers in brackets mean.
