My Charge 5's screen wouldn't respond, so I put it on to charge, and it got hot, far hotter than it should. Too hot to handle, actually. It still won't respond, and won't sync with the app. Also, a couple days ago, it was repeatedly giving a message to add a credit card. I kept hitting "got it," but the message came back. After a while, that stopped, but that's when it stopped responding. It's a couple years old.

My screen also started doing this same thing this morning. At first I thought the battery was dead but then I took it off my arm and saw the green light still working. It also still syncs to my app but the screen is black. What's going on?

My Charge 5 which I bought in November 2023 lost its charge very rapidly 2 days ago. This is my 2nd Charge 5...
I have bought a total of 6 Fitbits including the 2 Charge 5.
I put my Charge 5 on charge and it became VERY hot. It charged some and upon using it, the charge was used up within 1 hour. I also noticed that the time changed without my input.
I again put it on charge and again it became extremely hot.
How can I remedy this problem?

Fitbits are junk! I’ve been buying them and replacing them because starting with the charge 2. Same issue every time. After 1 1/2 to 2 years it gets stuck on the Fitbit logo and according to support, nothing can be done except to buy a new one. Well, not doing it this time, I’m getting an Apple Watch!

I also have unresponsive screen but no overheating. Phone app syncs fine and battery was about 50% when issue first noticed. I tried rebooting with charging cable 3 times. I can feel vibration but screen never came on. Also tried changing clock face, nothing. I'd love to try updating firmware or doing a factory reset, but nothing is the same in the fitbit app, I think it all changed when it switched to Google account. All help I find online I think is pre Google. I can't for the life of me find how to do those things with the current fitbit app. I think they are gone.
Update: The next day after being unresponsive, it magically started working again. Coincidently (?) I got an email on the day it started working saying that my FitBit premium was recently cancelled - perhaps this transition messed up my Fitbit?
