Charge 5 vibrates but screen won't respond

Hello all,

Yesterday, my fitbit 5 screen turned black. I tried to reset it by plugging it in and pressing 3 times the button on the charger. This did not work. He fitbit started to vibrate very heavily for 20 second or so.

The next day, I tried again the hard reset. Every time I press the button on the charger, the fitbit vibrates, but it does not get reset.

Does anyone know what is going on or how I can solve this?

You have to return only the watch, not the strap and the charger. My replacement was also only the watch itself, without strap and charger

So after doing the freezer trick and having it charge all day, it came up.  But it has the time pegged at 1AM (it's 7PM) and it won't synch with my phone.  Any suggestions?

I guess this trick doesn't work for this problem. I think there is no solution for it. So ask Fitbit for a new one when still under warrenty or try to get a discount for a new one like this user:

OK all, my fitbit is now working again (not sure for how long, but it is).  Here's what I did:

- Put it in the freezer for numerous hours.  Let it thaw it, then left it charging overnight.

- In the AM, fitbit was up, but with the wrong time etc.

- Installed the fitbit again via the phone app.  It deleted my old fitbit and added it it again.

BINGO, it's up with the right time and other settings I had.

This just happened an hour ago.  I'm going to wear it the next few days and see if it's logging everything it should be.

Hmm, could another software update have been sent out without us knowing to get it up again???

Same with me.  Fitbit 5 simply died yesterday.  Resets don't work.  It's a bust.

Good morning,

Of course the same thing happened to mine. Called customer service, and wouldn't you now it's out of warranty. FITBIT is a joke!

Surely with what seems to be an obvious issue now with this watches they are in breach of consumer laws. It’s quite clear that these products are not what they are supposed to be the worst thing is that Google/Fitbit  clearly are acting with a crap attitude towards its consumers

And now after a few hours,  the fitbit has reset itself and is back at the dotted logo screen...sigh....

I contacted C.S. and they gave me some solutions to fix to issue. Unfortunately none of them worked. I now get a new one for free.
