I have 5 dots towards the top of the screen that will not go away. I cannot navigate or double tap to remove. I have had the watch for less than one day.

Mine happened on a damp day when cycling and wrist of cycling jacket was therefore wet and most probably touching screen.

I lost my charger and had to get a new one. My fix was to go in and change
the watch face, it fixed my fitbit.

This worked for me also.  With as many people that seem to have this problem, you'd think Fitbit would publish this solution.
Thanks

Welcome to the new users in the Community, @Souper76 @Jack1952

Thank you for confirming that you're having the same problem with the Charge 5 display.

If you have a Charge 5 charging cable, you'll find the button on the USB end of the charging cable. It's the little circle on the USB connector. Let me know if you're able to find it and complete the restart procedure:

It's good to see you around the forums for the first time, @Peteyb

Thank you for sharing that you're having this same problem. You can find a picture of the button here, it should be at the end of the charging cable.

@Peedee67 Thanks for sharing this update!

I'll be around.

I have a Fitbit 5 and my device is showing the 5 dots on the top of the screen. I read the way to reset your Fitbit and it won’t work because my charger doesn’t have a reset button. So how do I reset my unit?  I have only had it since end of February.

My Fitbit 5 won’t do anything but show the 5 dots on the screen. The screen is froze up. It will not allow me to do anything. M

I had a similar issue -- Charge 5 black screen with 5 dots. Still recording data, just not able to see the screen or toggle. The charging cable method did not work, it was fully charged, and the software was updated.

Before I found this post -- I figured a possibility was the background clock face because some of my past cell phones have had similar issues -- black, unresponsive screen but still working and not responsive to normal resets -- when the background screen is no longer available or missing, especially after a significant update.

The clock face I  was using on my Charge 5 was called Target.  Once I changed it to another clock face, it fixed the issue.

Hopefully this helps research in fixing the bugs!

Thank you,

----------

To reset your clock face

  • Click on your avatar in upper left corner of Fitbit app.
  • Click on the icon of your Charge 5
  • Select Gallery
  • Select Clocks from the top of the screen
  • Select a new clock face (make sure to report the one you were using so it can be fixed)
  • Tap install and then the back arrow
  • Select Charge 5 from top of screen and make sure your new clock face is active
  • Select the back arrow
  • Then tap sync

Hopefully this will reset the screen  and you'll be back at it!
