@seanj92 you say that your Google email is not connected to a fitbit account. Then say that the email is connected to your old fitbit. You are going to have to remove the email from your old fitbit.
I see a few choices. Let's first decide
To save the current data, we have to disconnect the email from your old
If you don't care

@Rich_Laue Hi! Your post is very helpful! I think my situation is a little different and would appreciate your help.
- my Charge 5 stopped working on Wed.
- I use the Fitbit app but have NOT moved it to my Google account.
- my gmail email is associated with my Fitbit app
- I bought the Charge 6 and I DO want to save all of my data from the last 10 years. It looks like I’m unable to sync the 6 unless it’s on the Google Fitbit app account.
So, should I move my current Fitbit account to a Google account and then add the Charge 6? That seems like the easiest solution but since I’ve not moved the now non-working 5, I’m not sure if I’ll be able to make the move to my Google account.
I’m also seeing that people are having difficulty with email addresses on the old and new Fitbit devices/apps
I appreciate any wisdom and advice. Thank you!

Yes @Trisheeey8 you want to move your account to a Google Login by following the instructions found at https://support.google.com/fitbit/answer/14237024.
All your data will be transferred. With the possible exception of the weight data.
Most issues with email are when users have an unused gmail registered email address, and now using a non gmail address. Since you are using a gmail address, you will not have an issue.

Thank you so much! I have a Fitbit scale so guessing the data will also transfer.

@HannieWan I'm not sure what it is you are saying about your accounts.
It sounds like you may have to Fitbit accounts. I think you will need to remove your old account from your gmail address.
@Nawtykitty you are logging into your Fitbit account with a non gmail address. To add a Charge 6, you will need to change your log in to a Google Account login. (this is not the same as logging in with a Gmail address)

@Grumpgran when you log into your fitbit account.
If you log in with the Continue with Google, (circled in blue) then you have moved to a Google login

I have a similar problem. My active Fitbit account is linked to a non-Gmail address. When trying to Move Account, the Fitbit app told me that my Gmail account was linked to another device and asked me to provide another Gmail account. I contacted Fitbit support and they told me that I had two accounts. One, created in 2014, which is my active account; and another, created in 2020, linked to my Gmail address.
So, I decided to delete this account. I logged off from the current account, logged on to the other account, noticed that it had no data (I must have created it by mistake or when Fitbit started to ask us to migrate...) and deleted it.
Then I tried again to Move Account and was again told that that Gmail account was in use.
Do you know haw long do I have to wait for the account to completely disappear? 7 days? or 30 days?

I agree. I have tried multiple times to change to gmail and it says the account is in use. Yes, by me with an old Fitbit. I used a different email with my current Fitbit.
It is good (not for us) to see that your device doesn’t work after the system update either. It is beyond frustrating.
I will be changing brands.

After spending a lot of time trying to move my account to Google, out of sheer desperation I made up a dummy Google email address. After I did that, I clicked on "another email address" & as soon as I did that, it moved it over. Why I would have to do this is a mystery but it worked so I won't question it any further. Wanted to post because this might help others. What a PITA......never should've made this such a hassle.

@HannieWan You say that you had 2 fitbit accounts. The one you are not using had an older tracker connected to it.
You deleted this account. That is good, however Google gives you 30 days to change your mind. That account will not be deleted for 30 days.
You could contact Google and have them manually delete, or simply wait 31 days and try again

Rich_Laue. I have never HAD a "Google/Fitbit" account. So where does that leave ME? I have always signed in with my AOL account.
I have a Google account that I use for a couple of other apps. Does thus mean I will have to create a new Google account just to access Fitbit? And abandon my AOL login?
I want. To get this resolved before the deadline.

Eventually everyone will need to abandon a login through an email address. And use a google login.
You say that you have a google account. This is the Google account you will want to use when logging in to fitbit as well as your other 2 accounts.
Instead of typing in an email address, you will be choosing a Google account, and authorizing. For me, I supply my finger print

Thank you. It sucks, but I guess I have no choice. I may create a new Gmail instead of using my jam-packed one.
